Bishop Care Center is the first one I've ever been in. I'm getting daily medical care as far as wound care and management. I am in a separate small wing. We share a common parking lot with Northern Inyo Hospital, which is a full-service operating hospital. So, anything that they can't meet my needs here, I just roll across the parking lot and I'm at the hospital. So, there's close proximity to the local hospital for the entire county right across. They provide the standard three meals a day. It's pretty close to federal guidelines for food service. I've been a professional chef for over 40 years, so my standards are a bit different than most people, but I know who they're buying their food from. I know what it takes to prepare it. It's a basic meal and they serve pretty much everything. Sometimes Oriental food. Sometimes Latino food. Most of the time it's just basic, like comfort food. The medical staff that I interact with is excellent and the CNAs are good and attentive. The nurses are knowledgeable and very thorough. They have a dining room, and an activities/recreation room. They have local artists come in and do music every once in a while. They take people for walks around the outside of the facility. They have bingo, movie nights, and just basic things to keep people occupied and keep you from being bored. They're efficient.

I'm in the Bishop Care Center. In general the staff here is pretty good. The food is above tolerable, and the facility itself is OK. It's a little old, but not bad. The staff is fairly well trained. They're responsive. They have an activity center, and some of that caters to some of the older people here. They do things rather consistently, like bingo and cards. They have a physical facility center, and they do a pretty good job of that.
