My mom was at Evergreen Bakersfield Healthcare for three weeks. The only way I could see her was through the window, but what I saw was that they were very attentive to her, and everything looked very clean. They brought her meals out to her, and if we brought her something, they would go and take it to her. I would ask mom how they were treating her, and she said very good. She's in a shared room, and because of COVID, they weren't allowed to roam around. The staff was very attentive, very friendly, and very informative. The facility was very clean and very well kept.

My dad was recently in the facility for 3 months. He needed skilled nursing help and therapy to use his limbs and walk. Our family and my dad had a very positive experience with Evergreen. My dad liked the food and the nursing and therapy staff were terrific. He re-learned to walk there and was able to come home. Very clean facility. No bad odors. God staff coverage and attention to patients. I would highly recommend Evergreen. I have only good things to say about the facility and staff. My dad says he was treated very well

When my loved one was released from a primary hospital her goal was to return to her home. She went to Evergreen where she received excellent care. She had a great room with lots of space and big windows. The nursing staff was knowledgable and efficient while always being polite and considerate. While the patient is their primary concern, they were very kind and accommodating to family and friends as well. The physical therapy and occupational therapy professionals were wonderful. They gave her opportunities to progress at a comfortable rate and were flexible enough to work with her when she was ready. When the time came, administrative staff helped to coordinate with hospice and made sure her last days were comfortable. Staff was even more attentive, making sure we all had the support we needed. God bless all the wonderful people at Evergreen for their skill and compassion!

My mother was in this nursing home for rehabilitation and unfortunately it is better than many in Bakersfield. The staff seemed to care, but they were hard to find and many times they all seemed to be in the lounge instead of attending to the patients. There is no cell service in the facility and there are no phones in the room. My mother's first roommate was dying and so her room never had fewer than 8 extra people sitting around. There should be a private place for such patients and their families to say their goodbyes. Her 2nd roommate kept the TV blaring 24 hours a day and yelled into her cell phone on speaker at all hours. The meals were decent, but they were left on her table, often out of her reach, even though she had broken her dominant arm and could hardly feed her self let alone cut up the meat. Her blood oxygen level was allowed to fall extremely low but no one would have done anything if I had not brought to their attention her confusion and lethargy. They assumed it was normal for her even though they knew she was just there for physical rehab. If I hadn't gone every day to help her, she would never have been fed or cleaned. It is unfortunate that this is all that was available to her in her time of need.

My grandmother 83 yrs old fell and broke her hip, and a neighbor recomended Ever green. she was there for a week, 1st night got no sleep because they allowed her room mate to keep tv on all night. moved to a new room after I threw a fit about no quiet hours for people trying to heal. food was horrible. dinner one night was a piece of toast with some kind of canned meat on top. on weekend nights trash and used gloves on floor. her last night there my gpa went in to visit she had a stroke was paralized, couldn't speak right, don't know how long she had been that way. took 45 min to call ambulance. She died 1 week later. never ever send someone there!

My dad was at Evergreen for over a month requiring more acute care. I was not that impressed with the facility because it required my intervention to get things done which I did not expect I would have to do.

The patient care staff at Evergreen really seemed to care about the residents, whether the residents were actually able to communicate or not. The facility was always clean. My grandmother was a resident for a couple of years, and she never had any sores or wounds. She did have a couple of falls and two escapes out the fire door. That was a little scary. My grandfather received loving care there in his final days. He was comfortable and aware until the end. We were at peace with his decision to spend his final days there.

On appearances alone this facility seems to be one of the nicer nursing homes in our city (Bakersfield, CA). It was for this reason that my mother requested that my grandmother stay there to receive her rehabilitation treatment. After being in the hospital for two weeks with pneumonia and a failing liver she was having trouble walking and needed assistance to learn how again. The room was comfortable but had no phone and the meals provided good, but everything else was dreadful. Only half of the staff seemed to sincerely care about their patient. We had to make a formal complaint about one of the employees who scared my grandmother to death. She said he had come into her room at night, rubbed lotion on her legs, and told her now I can begin to heal you. We didn't see him again after this incident but my grandmother started having nightmares and then had a small stroke which sent her back to the hospital. They thought this was caused because they weren't giving her the right medication at Evergreen. We didn't make her go back to the nursing home after that horrible experience. Instead we took her home and cared for her there. I would never put a beloved family member into a nursing home for any reason after that experience.
