The Mayflower Manor Apartments for low-income seniors 55 and older is located in the renovated Mayflower Hotel in Akron, once a celebrity A-list destination. Its distinctive art deco architecture and decor remain from the original building.Mayflower Manor Apartments includes studios and one- or two-bedroom spaces, each with several distinct floor plans. All have private baths with showers and bathtubs and an efficient kitchen complete with stove, refrigerator, trash compactor and sink disposal. Carpeted living/dining areas improve comfort, and residents have control of their heat and air conditioning. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development subsidizes the rent: Residents pay a monthly fee based on their income. Each apartment allows one pet, either a dog or a cat, to provide companionship. Also included are a laundry facility, 24/7 on-site maintenance and wheelchair accessibility, with an elevator. Utilities such as gas, electricity, water, sewer and trash removal are included as well. Residents have 24-hour controlled access to the building.Among the amenities offered at Mayflower Manor are a fitness center, a multi-use room and concierge service.
