I chose Royal Oaks. I tried to find a place that was conducive to regular ongoing living, i.e., independent living, and then when I can no longer go on in independent living, I will just transition to assisted living or transition to a dementia unit or to the care unit. This place uses LifeCare. You have never met a staff that is so compelling because it doesn’t matter where they are, it doesn’t matter if they are cleaning the rooms or whatever it is that they’re doing; they’re very, very accepting of our situations. They have a smile on their face, and they’re ready to help us. They’re very caring individuals. The food is delicious. We have a lot of choices. They have so many activities that there’s no way you can do them all. They have so much. They have courses and physical therapy.

Royal Oaks Lifecare Community was wonderful, but they don't take dogs. They've probably done some remodeling since we were there. The staff members were nice.

We visited friends at Royal Oaks, and it was very good. It has 2-stories, and when you walk out, you have a pond, a lawn, grass, and trees. The staff was very nice, and the food was good the few times we've been there. The dining area and the rooms were fine. They have some classes that you can take. However, it was too expensive.

We liked Royal Oaks very much. It was very pleasant, very well furnished, and beautiful. Everything from recreational facilities to the dining facilities to the residential living area and the common areas was well appointed and very nice. It was very bright and cheery. We liked the services that they offered, like transportation to doctors, the grocery store, and social events. Everything was just wonderful.

Royal Oaks was gorgeous. I would love it, but I couldn’t afford that one. It was very expensive. It was like being in a resort or something. It would have been my first place, if I had the money. They had restaurants, and they had well-known chefs come in and do something. They had mass there or any church affiliation you had. They had little learning things if you wanted to do a little more education. They had everything, but you had to pay for it. We saw a couple of rooms that were empty, and they looked very comfortable and clean.

I visited a friend who is in Assisted Living building. When I was in the main building, I walked around. The place feels like a fancy hotel. Not sure I would like it. A long walk from apartment to restaurant, to pool, etc. Also, it is very, very, very expensive. Think I will stay in my condo. Royal Oaks recently switched from Skilled Nursing Facility to Critical Care. The jury is still out as to whether this is a good or bad thing.

I think Royal Oaks is very good as well. I know a lot of people that live there; so that’s a possibility for my mom, but they didn’t want to leave Sun City West. The apartments are not as light and bright. They face courtyards which gives you a feeling that you’re looking across another person’s balcony. The staff is excellent, they’re upbeat, joyful, smiling, and welcoming. The food is very good, and is presented well. The dining room is fine dining, and it’s very nice. The people that live there are happy.

My grandmother has lived at Royal Oaks since 1997, and I visit her there at least twice a month. This is a wonderful facility in many ways. My grandmother lives in an apartment, but they also offer assisted living and health care. I have visited all areas of Royal Oaks with my grandmother to meet her friends. The staff there are wonderful. I have had the most interaction with the wait staff. There are three options for dining: the Grill (casual), the Oak Room (sit down dining) and the Arbor Room (fancy dining). The food is great and the staff respect the residents and have great customer service. There is also a wonderful workout facility which is brand new. There is a large pool, cardio machines and weight lifting machines, and aerobic classes. My grandma volunteers with hospice care at the care center, and I have visited her friends there frequently. The nursing staff is kind to the residents and take good care of them. There are plenty social events to attend, and local trips to go on. They encourage their residents to be active. I am so thankful my grandmother lives here.

This is a huge community with 263 apartments and homes for independent and assisted living. It sits on 38 acres. There are four courtyards in the center with grass, shrubs, flowers, sitting areas, and walking paths. It is very well maintained. There apartments are studio, one, two, and three bedrooms. All are handicapped equipped with an emergency call system. All apartments have patios or balconies. They offer housekeeping and laundry. They have three meals and snacks a day in the main restaurant style dining room which is elegant. There is a separate dining room for assisted living. There is a private ding room for visitors and residents for celebrations. They also have the Acorn grill available. They have a library, sitting areas, movie room. fitness room, a bank. and chapel. They have one indoor and one outdoor pool and offer water aerobics. They have an outdoor patio with a fireplace and a spa area. They have a wellness center upstairs with a doctor, dentist. and podiatrist who come two times a week. They have a nurse. All care givers are certified. The staff is very friendly and caring. They offer transport to appointments. They have numerous activities as bingo, parties, bbqs, entertainment, and games. They transport to shopping, restaurants, and events. This is a beautiful place.
