My momma lived at Kivel Memory Care for the last 2 1/2 years of her life. She had Alzheimer's. I spent a lot of time there during that time. The facility was always very clean and the staff is wonderful. They had a lot of activities for them. Even though momma didn't understand a lot of things that were going on, the staff always tried to engage her in the activity. I took care of my momma for 6 years until I just couldn't do it anymore. Trying to care for someone with Alzheimer's was a very hard journey. I was devasted that I had to find somewhere for her,to get the 24 hour care that she needed and to take care of her the way I did. Laura, the director, eased my mind and my heart telling me "I promise we will take good care of her and you can be the daughter again". The last 2 1/2 years making memories with my momma will last the rest of my life, I got to be the daughter again. I really can't say enough about the staff - caretakers, cafeteria workers, housekeeping, administrative staff and even the maintenance staff. They were all very respectful, caring and attentive to all the residents. I absolutely LOVE Kivel.

We visited Kivel Manor. We're Jewish and felt that we wanted to be in a place that had some amount of Jewish identity and program, which would help us in terms of affordability. However, it was a little bit depressing. There were more people visible to us who had disabilities and looked sicker. It was not as inviting, but the staff was pleasant.

The place is spotlessly maintained even the lawns are lush and green. I watched the staff and they were very attentive to the residents and most importantly to me, they spoke respectfully to the people. I met two women sitting in the lobby with while I was waiting who said the food is excellent and they confirmed that the place has lots of things to do. I like the apartment I was shown as it will fit most of my furniture. I hope to move here soon.

As a resident of Kivel Memory Unit my mother received fantastic care in the hands of wonderful staff members. She was constantly engaged by various activities through out the day and totally enjoyed their daily music therapy program. The facility is very clean and well planned out to meet dementia needs. During her time at Kivel my mother was happy, healthy and had quality of life. Thank you Kivel for doing that for her.

I liked Kivel Campus Care (Kivel Manor Assisted Living Center). They took good care of you; that's what I saw. They rooms were nice. They were smaller than what I was used to, but they were nice. They had a lot of activities to do. The staff was very good. They were informative and helpful. They were willing to help you make any kind of decision. I didn't try their food, but I understood that it was very good. The dining area was organized and very pleasant.

Mom is on a waiting list at Kivel Manor till the end of the year. I have a friend that lives there already; she loves it. The rooms are light and airy, well-maintained. I'm going on a friend's recommendation that it's pretty good. It's in the same area where mother lived for a number of years, so it's something familiar. I think it has a good location for meeting everyone's needs.

I'm moving in to Kivel Manor. It's just 20 minutes away from my daughter. The staff is very nice, they have recreational facilities and they have everything on there like stores, dentists and doctors right on site. They also have an assisted living facility in case you'll need it.

This facility is in northeast Phoenix, in an area that is no longer very safe. The building is very old, and the grounds are not well kept; there is nothing that pops out as pleasing or pretty. When you walk in the front doors, it's an institutionalized setting that greets you"”with a nurse's station with at least two beds in a room. There is even an institutional smell to the place, rather like ammonia mixed with dirty laundry. The inside floors are mostly tile, which seems cold and uninviting. The residents don't seem to be overly happy about where they are; most seem rather listless, just existing. The activities are the standard fare: sing-alongs, card games, religious services, birthday parties for residents each month. And the food is adequate, if not exciting"”with Jewish kosher food provided, although other options are available. Lots of chicken is on the menu. There is an LPN and an RN on staff for the 50 residents"”and they are not that prompt in answering calls. Overall, the care seems adequate but very hurried; few take the time to engage with individual residents. One good touch: The memory care residents wear bracelets that act as safety devices to alert staff if they wander out the door.

Kivel is an older facility, located in a less-than desirable neighborhood. The building itself is dimly lit, and there isn't much going on, socially. The apartments are cramped, and difficult to navigate, especially if you use a walker. Everything seems old and musty, and I leave there feeling depressed.
