HealthSouth East Valley is where my sister is right now. They don’t just put them in their room and let them lay there. They try to rehabilitate them. It’s the best place I’ve seen. Everything is clean. The employees are just fantastic. The food is good, and the cafeteria is spotless. The restrooms are immaculate. The furnishings are well maintained and/or very new. The exterior is very clean. There is nothing that I can think of off-hand that they could do to improve, as it is that good.

My dad stayed at Healthsouth, and the experience was really good. His motor skills -- ability to walk and talk -- was a really speedy recovery. When I first flew in to see him, you couldn't understand anything that he said, he couldn't walk, and he was struggling to use the knife and fork. By the time he finished, he was functioning normally and had no issues whatsoever. He had his own room with his own bathroom, and he had a view of the courtyard, which was in an interior portion of the building. They had a cafeteria, which was very inexpensive for guests and was a benefit because we were able to purchase a meal plan for my mom so she could go eat meals with him each day. They had a huge physical therapy room, which they were able to put him through various exercises to make him mobile, and before long, he was even walking without any support such as cane or a walker, which was different from even prior to the stroke. People were very friendly and very attentive. Because I lived in Florida, I was able to call them and talk with them on a regular basis to find out how he was doing, and they were really open to working with me on that.
