I visited this facility as a student volunteer during the summer of 2007 - I was also the relative of a resident at the facility. I found their staff to be extremely positive and supportive of all of their residents. This positivism extended throughout different wards, especially with the more difficult-to-care-for residents. Residents are offered daily worship services, social activities (such as Bingo, movies, and other games). Food options were adequate for the standard in the area. Visiting hours were also very flexible and the staff respected the wishes of residents and their families. The location of this facility is also ideal (located within five miles of two hospitals). I would feel very comfortable staying in this facility.

The facility itself was lovely. Staff were very helpful and cleanliness was not an issue. I felt safe, secure and at ease walking around the site. Tenants looked as happy as they could be and were treated well by the staff. The only thing I could knock them for was their attitude towards guests. However I suppose, it is better that they treat their patients right rather than the guests. Thank you.

My grandfather was staying at NHC Place after he had broken his hip and could no longer be care for at home. He was in a room with an Alzheimer's patient. My grandfather was still mentally cognizant to some degree and was quite bothered by the other patient's ramblings and mutterings. We requested to have him moved to another room, but were not accommodated. My grandfather was unable to bathe himself and would often have to wait until mid-afternoon before getting any kind of bed bath or change of clothing. The staff was not uncaring, but I did feel that they were perpetually shorthanded and unable to meet the needs of patients in a timely manner. Overall, the facility was fairly clean, but I would see piles of soiled bedding and towels left in the hallways for several hours which produced bad smells. I think this facility could have been improved with a more efficient or larger staff. My grandfather was a resident of this facility for several months before he passed away. I can't say that I would recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place to help their loved ones.
