The MOST important work we do here is to help people with disabilities to transition from nursing homes and other institutional settings back to the community, or to avoid entering the nursing home at all. Stavros has many programs and services that help thousands of people in western Massachusetts to avoid nursing home placement. "Mercy Adult Day Services offers social & adult day health services. A professional staff offers support and reassurance to enable participants in group activities. A noon meals and two snacks are provided daily. Transportation in Westfield and surrounding areas can be coordinated. Skilled nursing services are available for adult day health clients and restorative services are available if needed. We offer a trial program an individual's initial visit. Arrangements are made for a 2-4 hour stay, usually around the lunch hour. We ask that a caregiver be available to fill out some paperwork if the odler adult would have difficulty doing so. There is no charge for the trial visit. Families are encouraged to visit and we offer counseling and support for tham as caregivers. Mercy is certified by the Western MA Alzheimer's Assoc."
