Highland Valley's respite program is designed to offer relief to those who provide daily care to an elder. The respite program is also available to individuals who are under 60 years of age with a physician's documented diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease. The purpose of the respite program is to alleviate caregiver burnout so the elder can continue to live at home with appropriate and safe services

"Mercy Adult Day Services offers social & adult day health services. A professional staff offers support and reassurance to enable participants in group activities. A noon meals and two snacks are provided daily. Transportation in Westfield and surrounding areas can be coordinated. Skilled nursing services are available for adult day health clients and restorative services are available if needed. We offer a trial program an individual's initial visit. Arrangements are made for a 2-4 hour stay, usually around the lunch hour. We ask that a caregiver be available to fill out some paperwork if the odler adult would have difficulty doing so. There is no charge for the trial visit. Families are encouraged to visit and we offer counseling and support for tham as caregivers. Mercy is certified by the Western MA Alzheimer's Assoc."

Stavros advocates/peer counselors will work with any person with any disability who is facing a challenge to their independence. The MOST important work we do here is to help people with disabilities to transition from nursing homes and other institutional settings back to the community, or to avoid entering the nursing home at all. Stavros has many programs and services that help thousands of people in western Massachusetts to avoid nursing home placement.
