I have been a hospice worker for 20 years and recently needed hospice care for my father. Evercare did a very god job. Unfortunately, my dad only received care for 8 days, but Evercare was very responsive, in addition to the scheduled visits, they checked to see if we needed a visit several times, provided the aide services we needed, and came as soon as humanly possible when we needed them. Sadly, some hospices are only running a business and it is about $ not care. Sometimes things happen in hospice that leave a bad impression that is not warranted. No matter the details, every hospice family deserves respect and compassion. We received that from Evercare.

Unbelievably responsive providing hospice care in our home. My 91 year old mother, a Sunrise resident, was rushed to the Reston ER on a Sunday morning and admitted with pneumonia, MRSA, and additional life-threatening conditions. After two days of oxygen and antibiotic treatments, her condition continued to worsen and the prognosis was dire. Because she had an advanced directive, we asked for information about hospice care. A representative visited us in the hospital on Tuesday morning and explained the Evercare program. By Tuesday evening, they had arranged for all necessary medical equipment to be delivered and set up in our home; round-the-clock staffing; ambulance transport of my mom to our home; nurses, caregivers, social worker and chaplain all contacted us. Mom died the next day in the early afternoon as we held her hands. I was overwhelmed with the support Evercare provided to our family. I highly recommend them.

I must write of my experience with Evercare Hospice of Reston. I am compelled to share our families experience. Our loved one was told by the home health agency caring for them they could no longer take care of her needs and we must seek Hospice care. This was on a Friday afternoon. Upon calling Evercare we were contacted immediately by the director and on Saturday morning the social worker and two different nurses were in and out of the hous all day. They loving examined our family member and expressed concern for us as care givers. the equipment and meds we needed were provided very quickly. Any time we needed to contace them during the 5 weeks they carred for our loved one they were responsive and prompt. The morning our loved one passed away a nurse was there very early in the AM and wept with us. We have had an extended time of care from another area hospice group previously and Evercare stand head and shoulders above them. We recommend them highly

I was on- line searching for the Evercare survey, which I misplaced but intended to complete, and found this site. I read the review that was previously posted. I can only empathize with the writer if that was their experience but I feel compelled to post, that my experience with Evercare Hospice in Reston Virginia was not anywhere similar to what the prior post described. I struggled for many months trying to make a decision whether or not to put the love of my life in hospice care. In my eyes, making that decision was an admission that I alone was no longer able to control the uncontrollable. I was unsure as to what expect, what to do and whether or not I was making the "right" decision. Having made that decision, the service provided by Evercare in Reston from hospital supplies, to include bed, oxygen, tray tables, commodes. Lotions, medications etc, to the amazing folks that provided any service was absolutely awesome. The people I encountered, Mary (aide), Steve (minister), Adele ( social worker), Edwin, Jennifer, Carol, and Faye (nurses) each in their own way were not only my love's angels and support but also mine for which I will be forever grateful. They were never too busy to talk and advise or comfort. If the time comes for me, and at some point in time it will, I would without question want people who are as dedicated and caring to be tending to me and my family needs. It doesn't get much better than that in difficult times. I score them off the chart! Thank you ever so much Evercare in Reston! I could not have gotten through this without each and every one of you.

Had our family known we had a choice in hospice are we would have chosen a different company. They promised us when my mom came home they would be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and if we requested, they would have a nurse at our house within an hour. They also told us they would be there for the family and were a loving caring organization. They were far from any of that. As our mom lay dying we called and ask for help and were told what to do. We called back and ask that someone come to our house and were told "I can come but I am just going to tell you the same thing I just told you on the phone", We said never mind. They next morning my mom passed away. We called and were told abruptly "I will be there to pronounce her dead" Two hours later a "nurse" shows up. I was sobbing at the head of the bed, The lady walks in listens to my moms heart never even acknowledges that I am there, Walks in the living room asks my sisters what funeral home to call, and for moms medicine. She throws the medicine and walks out. It was the absolute worst experience of my life. Not only did I have to go through the experience of losing my mother. I also had to go through the experience of having rude uncaring people treat me like the fact that my mom was dying meant nothing to them. PLEASE know that you have a choice with hospice company's. Had I known that I would have never have chosen Evercare. I had never had to go through the death of a loved one and I had no idea what to do. I needed guidance and support. I did not get that from Evercare. So sad.
