This provider was awesome. Amazing Grace took care of my mother in her final days. They did everything for her, draining her lungs, changing her diapers, dressings, wound care, sheets, bathing, provides pain relief, spiritual care and blessed family support. I couldn’t have taken care of my mom without them! I would not hesitate to ask them to help me again.

If you have a limited support group to help you through the end of life hospice experience with a loved one, Amazing Grace is not the right company for you. If you have never participated in the end of life hospice experience or you have limited knowledge, Amazing Grace is not the company for you. When I engaged Amazing Grace, I did so, not for end of life, but for pain management. I was in the process of getting comfortable with the fact that trips to the hospital was no longer a good option for my mother. Shortly after, my mother took a downturn. Amazing Grace gave me a book. They did not explain to me what went on during the end of life process. I will say that it is horrifying for someone that does not know what to expect. Amazing Grace told me that they were not only there for my mother, but they were here for me. They provided me almost no support. I had to deal with three different nurses. One was just a disaster and had no compassion for a grieving family member. It appears that this company is all about their service. They have lost their way as far as the emotional support needed. With all of this said, if you are educated, Amazing Grace may work out fine. They did supply the medication. They did make sure the facility gave the medication. And there were in fact problems with the facility and they did try to help. I just needed guidance and I received very little. The original nurse assigned to me was very nice but she had to go on vacation and that was unfortunate. The other two were not as good. After my mother passed away, they did not call me. When I engaged them, they said that Medicare paid for them to follow up with me. Wow...that was a complete disappointment. Actually it was far worse than a disappointment. Shame of them.

I would highly recommend Amazing Grace Hospice. The nurses, the spiritual care, all of them -- they were all just wonderful. There actually was a lot of information about end-of-life, so they gave us this whole booklet and it gave us a better idea of what to expect. It was wonderful because it helped us understand the stages that she was going through as she was dealing with this process. It is so different when someone is dying like that versus someone dying suddenly, but they were able to help us through it. They were calling us and checking on us. They had the nurse and the nurse's aide. The nurses would come and check her vitals and everything -- I think she came like three times a week. The nurse's aide also came in three times a week, and her job was to help bathe my mom, wash her hair, change her clothes, and change her bedding -- she helped the other nurse that we had. They were getting tired because they were pulling a 12-hour shift and it was almost the same two people the entire time. It was hard on all of them, but they worked as if she was their mom. Their counselor was really good with my daughter and me. She actually took a lot of time out of her day to talk with my daughter when my daughter was visiting, because it was hard for her to lose her grandma. She was very good with her: she was very understanding, very caring, and she came by when mom died just to be there. There is counseling and they also have a spiritual adviser that comes by. He came every other day to see her. They have RNs, doctors who follow them, and there are nurses' aides, so they had all the bases covered. Whatever we needed from them, they had it covered.

My sister used Amazing Grace Hospice for just a very short time during her final days. Everyone was caring and gentle with her. All of her needs were met almost immediately. They provided her equipment and supplies and all needs to make her comfortable. They were caring with the family and gave great support.

This company provided more supplies that my mom needed than the other companies we called here in Houston which saved us money. Another positive thing is this company does have their own nurses aides and doctor to come to the house to do the certification.

This particular company has beat out Houston Hospice and one other one because they provide diapers, wipes, and thickener for mom's drinks. They do not do the blood work that needs to be done to make sure her coumadin levels are correct. They really push the morphine. Mom's nurse wasn't getting anywhere so she had someone really rude with their company that talked over me to tell me why morphin is so great. My mother's pain has been mostly toothaches and leg pain from her stroke. She has had side effects from other pain pills that either cause her breathing problems or hallucinations, so I want her on something mild, but having to settle on tylenol and advil because the nurse acts like the only pain meds they are willing to give my mom is morphine. Louisiana Hospice Companies such as Oasis Hospice, Alexandria, La. and Stillwaters, Alexandria, La. kept my mom comfortable, ran tests, all meds and comfort needs were provided even before I asked for them. The only bad thing about the hospice companies in Lousiana are the aides...but you get what you pay for. I rated them high because I think this company is probably a little better than most companies here in Houston, Texas
