I am a past client of this provider

Hospice Austin helped to care for my grandmother. They were amazing and allowed my grandmother to pass away at home, well supported. When my grandmother passed away, the on call nurse was able to come quickly to pronounce and support the family. The aide was amazing as well as the nurse. The equipment was delivered on time when requested. Communications with the doctor and NP were efficient and helpful to help ease the symptoms with dying. I am so thankful for Hospice Austin during this delicate time.

Hospice Austin provided care for my mother in her assisted living facility. The only positive comment I have is that the nurse assigned to my mother visited her often and was kind when she visited. Communication between Hospice Austin and the assisted living facility was so delayed, it took days for new orders to be placed into effect by the facility. There was no communication between the hospice nurse and the hospice aide assigned to my mother. The nurse would order bed rest for her, and an hour later the aide would arrive and insist she be placed in the shower, causing her undue suffering. This happened repeatedly. The family had no contact with a doctor except through the nurse who supposedly relayed all information and requests to a doctor. Changes family members requested because experience showed them they were beneficial for our mother and we believed our mother would greatly benefit from them either never made it to the doctor for review or never made it back from the doctor to the nurse. This included some standard comfort medicines. As we tried to get comfort help for our mother, we saw her decline daily. The night she passed away, hospice was called. No nurse was available for her. She had passed away well over an hour before a hospice nurse showed up to "help." Hospice Austin was well staffed with social workers, and people who gave my mother no benefit. She needed medical attention, and when she needed it the most, Hospice Austin did not have personnel available to help her. Our family has worked with other hospice companies in the past, and was blessed by their help. This is our first experience with Hospice Austin, and it was stressful for family members as well as our mother. She passed away without enough pain medicine and without any medical assistance. This is not the way hospice should operate

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Hospice Austin is providing in-home care visits for my elderly mother who was released from the hospital recently with pneumonia and chronic COPD. Their staff is exceptionally kind and very responsive to all of my mom's needs and all of our questions. All of her medications are free and called into the pharmacy around the corner. Any medical equipment or oxygen refills are delivered promptly and we can reach them 24/7 on their hotline for any concerns or emergencies. Their scope of care is customized to meet the individual needs of their patients and we are at peace knowing that they will increase visits and services as my mother's needs change.

Not sure what I would have done without Hospice Austin. My husband was diagnosed with ananplastic thyroid cancer at the age of 57. There is no cure for this disease. Thanks to Hospice Austin my husband was able to die comfortably, at peace, and with dignity in our home with his family, friends and beloved dog. This would not have been possible without all the the great support we received from Hospice Austin. I think their many years of experience is what made the difference. Not only did they help with my husband's physical and spiritual pain; but they helped me and my family with our emotional pain. Hospice Austin staff was always available to night and day. I took advantage of two of their many grief programs that enhanced my ability to grieve appropriately. I never felt alone when Hospice Austin was supporting me. I recommend Hospice Austin to anyone that may not be around in the next six months. Not only does the patient receive wonderful care; the family and caregivers are also supported and assisted through a most difficult time.

my mother was under their care for about 6 months before she passed away and they were terrific. The person who came out to spend time with her became a genuine friend. They were compassionate and caring and made my mom's last few months far more human and pleasant than they otherwise would've been. I'm very grateful for their great work.
