DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THE DAY STAFF IS GREAT TO WORK WITH WHEN THINGS ARE SIMPLE AND MANAGEABLE, BUT WHEN YOU REALLY NEED THEM, THEY ARE NOT THERE. THE NIGHT STAFF IS HORRIBLE. THEY DO NOT RESPOND UNTIL AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN CALLED SEVERAL TIMES. THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANY 24 HOURS CARE OR ANY SUPPORT NEARING THE TIME YOUR LOVED ONE IS NEAR TO PASSING. THIS COMPANY OFFERS ZERO SUPPORT.

My mother had Kindred at Home service for two months and I was somewhat satisfied but looking for a little more help. The nurse came once a week as well as the PT. Mom had to transfer to assisted living after that and remained there for the next 3 months. We decided to switch to Kindred Hospice as we were told in great length all of the benefits. Once signed up and after being told mom would have an extra 2 baths a week, she only received 2 extra baths during those last 2-3 months. A nurse came once a week and took her vitals and a pastor came 2x during those last 2-3 months. The nurse would call me and then not leave a message or a text. I would call and ask about mom. I would get the same phone call with no message. She was pleasant I guess but no warm and fuzzy feelings and bad communication skills. Not very apathetic. Mom had a horrible rash she picked up from a local nursing home in December where she had stayed for a hip replacement rehab and was itching badly since January. Absolutely no help or aide was given when asked repeatedly. I had to take her to a local Skin and Cancer Clinic to find out it was Scabies. She had ointment prescribed to help relieve the itching. It was barely touched. No one helped apply it from Kindred. Moms legs and feet were swollen from the congestive heart failure and had cuts where the assisted living had bumped the wheelchair legs against her. This causes her legs to weep were the wound was. My sister and I had to leave work to apply ointment and a Band-Aid two times a day for about a month. No one helped us with this. Kindred left a bag with one box of Band-Aids, gauze and cleanser. No help was given after that. We were on our own. Mom had anxiety from congestive heart failure and needed something a 90 year old could take safely. She was finally given something …the week she passed away. It was supposedly a low dose of Ativan but it out mom I’m such a deep lethargic state, she didn’t wake up until 2.5 days later. Once awake she had lost use of her hands and some motor skills. The Kindred nurse came again and said it probably wasn’t a stroke …but it was. Her cannula had fallen out of her nose during the Ativan weekend of sleep and her oxygen dropped to 74. I partially place some of this on the assisted living aide that day as she is the one who called hospice when the cannula had fallen out. They never checked in on her as they should have. Mom was to have a hospital bed delivered that week after the Ativan experience. I visited her when the bed was delivered. Mom was almost or appeared to be in a state of possibly passing. I prayed over her and basically gave her a mini funeral at the time as no one was around while I was there from noon-1:00. When no came back at 4:40 mom had passed sitting in her chair as I had left her. The hospital bed sitting there, unmade. No one ever checked on her the entire time I was gone except to leave the monthly menu and activities schedule on her lap. The whole thing…from assisted living to Hospice. The bare necessities were done….the small things or the actual needs were very hard to be met by anyone other than our family. Which was me and my sister. Kindred seemed disconnected. The higher ups would step in when I sent in continuous complaints and they did their job. But the nurses who were sent out did NOT come through. It was not an experience I expected. Could have just stayed with home health.

We got Kindred Hospice Gahanna, OH for my husband. I love all the people, everyone has just been very helpful. The problem that I saw was, I didn't feel that the coordination was smooth, there would be so many different people here, that I never knew who to call if I wanted something or needed something. They have provided him with nursing, aide services, equipment, and whatever he needed. We've had lots of medical supplies from them.

We had called Kinder Hospice To come in And care for my mother. Who was dying from ovarian cancer we were given medicine and help the nurse was putting it all on us until they got us a new nurse near the end and her last days when she had passed. I had called to have someone come out to pronounce her dead the nurse told me she would be there I waited 4 hours. She never showed. We had to get the police the EMTs and the funeral home she come in and call the corner she could layed there till 2 AM the following day. They had told me a representative would call me I never heard from anyone except for the social worker once. Who is very apologetic and very kind but when it comes down to it Kinder Hospice Dropped the ball.

My mother was in hospice , twice with this agency, hospice my mother had 8 children, hospice only met with 2 of her children to discuss the process , the other siblings were left out of the loop of what was going on . My sister who had no medical training was allowed to give my mother pain medications , we believe she over medicated my mother with these pain drugs to keep her sedated so she could not communicate with her other children . My mothers condition worsened during the morning hours according to her home health aides , she passed away about 3:10, her other 6 siblings were never notified her condition had worsened , and we did not receive a call until about 4:15 and that was to tell us our mother had passed, one sibling never received a phone call , Hispuce catered to these 2 family members who kept my mother isolated from her family. I would not recommend Kindred to anyone .

Kindred was assisting my father daily, and then as he got worse, they were at our beck and call whenever we needed them. We started out with another hospice provider, which was terrible, so we transferred to Kindred, and they were wonderful, very kind, and patient to dad.

Wonderful caring nurses. My dad was in the hospital and wanted to die at home and we called Gentiva hospice on a Saturday. They came to the hospital within an hour or so and arraigned everything. We got dad home and a nurse helped us to get him settled. Later that evening dad passed peacefully in his bed with his dog. Thank you and God Bless the nurses at Gentiva.
