My mom has been using Homewatch CareGivers of Cary since mid-May. It's been working great. The people are always punctual. They always let me know if there's a conflict of schedule. They do cleaning, meal preparation, grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, and just taking a walk or spending time. It is great. They're doing medication reminders, too. They were coming twice a week, four hours each day, but we just changed it starting this week to three times a week. My mom recently fell, and she needs a little more assistance. It was the same person coming in for the last couple of months, but she just got another job. We have a new person starting this week. It worked out well with the same person coming all the time. Homewhat Caregivers have been very helpful and very organized. They keep in touch with you, and they are easy to get in touch with if you have a question or if you need to tell them anything. They're excellent.

She could not stay where she is without them. Assisting of activities of daily living. Some have a better way to communicate with her. They usually very receptive to the client's needs. She is a difficult person to take care for.

My dad has Alzheimer's and he can't walk very well. His caregiver given him homework to help with his memory, and she works with him to help him walk. We love the caregiver that we have. We are not totally thrilled with all of the administrative people. In the beginning they were difficult to work with.

They only come two days a week. When they come it's okay, but some of the people are really good and engaged, others less so. Some people sit on their phones during the visits. If you are only going to come a few days a week, you really need to have better engagement on the part of the caregivers. They need to hire good people and match those people with their clients.

My dad didn't like anyone bothering him, but it was very comforting to the family. It was very comforting to know someone was going. The only problem was when the caregiver left, it was someone new, and we had a chart that each morning they recorded BP, pulse, and weight. The new person forgot to record the blood pressure a few days. The main one that worked with my dad was just very caring and patient.

They do the medications for her, help do laundry, and clean up. My mom would not be able to do that on her own. It means I do not have to go do that. There is a caregiver that is great. She stays on top of things, makes sure everything is done, and helps me remember things I need to do.

They were very helpful, got him out of bed, and into the wheelchair. They used to come four times a day at the beginning. He had to have a lift, and they did it safely. There could have been better communication between us. We wound up not being able to get a caregiver one day because of it. I was able to go to work and know that she was being taken care of. I liked that they were able to find caregivers when they were needed. It is always a challenge to find caregivers in this field because of the turnover rate.

Out of the people that are taking care of my husband, only one I would give an outstanding rating. The other ones who have came in I have had a problem with them. I think that the coordination between the caregivers could have been improved. As each caregiver changed out their shift they brought each other up to speed, but as a family we had to start over with each new caregiver. The advantage was giving some relief to the family, in terms of the service, but it still remained pretty stressful with bringing each caregiver up to speed on the needs, even though they had a short interaction with the previous ones. I liked that the management seemed to be very efficient, although what I disliked was that we struggled with a number of the people who came to provide the actual service. That was something that was difficult for our family to filter through. We had people who just really weren't up to par for providing those services that they were supposed to be offering.
