The Friends for Life Family:

Founded in 2010 in Massapequa, New York, by Amy and Michael Recco, Friends for Life Homecare is a labor of love and empathy. Both Amy and Michael have personally experienced the challenges of having in-home caregivers for their own parents. This personal experience gives them a deep understanding of the emotional and practical dynamics involved, making them uniquely qualified to lead a team that is more than just a group of office staff. They are a support system dedicated to providing comfort and relief for you and your loved ones as they navigate the complexities of aging. Every member of our specialized and well-trained team is committed to understanding your unique needs and going the extra mile to ensure you and your loved ones receive the proper care. Whenever you speak to someone from Friends for Life, you can be sure they genuinely care about providing you with the best care and services

Our Caregivers:

Our caregivers are more than just caregivers - they are your new friends for life. We understand that inviting a stranger into your home may not initially sound like the most settling idea. However, when you choose Friends for Life, you can rest assured that our specialized caregiver-to-client matching system is like no other. We ask a series of personality questions alongside every care assessment to ensure we find the perfect fit for you.

You may wonder, "What if I don't think our caregiver is a good fit for us?" Well, to that, we say: "No problem!" That is the beauty of using our agency - we handle all the details, allowing you to focus on your family. Our flexibility and adaptability ensure that your needs are always accommodated.

Our caregivers are thoroughly vetted through background checks, reference checks, and an extensive hiring process with our recruitment department. This rigorous process is in place to ensure your security and peace of mind. We work with specialized caregivers with extensive experience in different niche areas, including Dementia and Alzheimer's care, Parkinson's disease care, companionship, personal care, hospice care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, housekeeping assistance, and more.

When you choose Friends for Life, you're not just getting a caregiver - you're gaining a trusted friend dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized care. We understand the importance of finding the right fit for you and your loved ones, and we're here to make that happen.

The Services We Provide:

PERSONAL CARE:

Friends for Life is committed to upholding the respect and independence of our clients. Our personal care services encompass:

- Assisting with mobility, such as walking, getting in and out of bed, and navigating around the home safely - Reminding clients to take their medication - Helping with daily activities like bathing, personal care, dressing, and using the restroom - Running errands and grocery shopping - Providing light housekeeping and laundry assistance - Offering transportation to appointments and visits with loved ones - Providing regular companionship

Together with you, we create a report tailored to the client's specific needs and conditions. These plans outline the personalized services we will provide.

In certain situations, our personal care services can be combined with other specialized care, such as Medicaid Consulting or Geriatric Care Management, to meet our clients' unique health needs.

ALZHEIMERS AND DEMENTIA CARE:

At Friends for Life, our team of caregivers is made up of experienced and caring individuals who specialize in providing personalized dementia care for seniors facing Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or other forms of dementia. Our dedicated caregivers offer not just personal care services but also:

- Support in creating a comforting daily routine - Meal preparation with love and attention - Encouragement and positivity every step of the way - Help with social interactions - Safe and reliable transportation to appointments, errands, and visits with loved ones

In this role, our caregivers take the time to truly understand our clients' life stories and focus on the person behind the dementia. Just like our personal care services, each dementia care client undergoes a thorough assessment and receives a personalized care plan, which is regularly reviewed and adjusted to ensure it meets their changing needs.

HOSPICE CARE:

When our loved ones reach the end of their journey, hospice support is there to comfort and support them and their families. Compassionate hospice caregivers offer assistance with personal care, medication management, and light housekeeping for seniors. Additionally, they provide nourishing meals and emotional support for family members, allowing them to maximize their time with their loved ones in their final days or hours.

COMPANIONSHIP:

It's important to remember that many seniors experience feelings of isolation and loneliness, especially if they've lost a spouse or live far from family. At Friends for Life, our caregivers work hard to create meaningful connections with our clients. Our companions visit seniors regularly at times that suit them best, giving them the chance to enjoy a good chat, play games, solve puzzles, or spend time outdoors.
