It was very expensive and was very bad. They were only there for the 4 days that I had to go away and the things that I wanted to be done, didn't get done, and my father missed a day of medication. I wouldn't do it at all. They keep and hire high-quality care providers. I left my father in their care for 4 or 5 days and when I came home it was a disaster and she didn't do anything she was supposed to do. I left instructions. When I came back, she didn't open any windows and it was 82 outside.

It allows me to sleep at night, but it doesn't change my daytime challenges. If we made the choice to have somebody help during the day, that would be good, but I'm home during the day and can't justify that. We're relatively new to the company and my mom went back in the hospital again. In the first two weeks, we had a lot of turnover of people coming. They were trying to find a good fit and someone who could consistently come. I wasn't getting a phone call. At 10 pm, a stranger would be knocking ion my door and I wouldn't know their name. They don't always initiate that communication.

They are very easy to work with. The gentleman in charge actually sat down with us to understand what we needed, and they found someone that they thought would be compatible with my mother, which was very important to us. The woman who comes is able to take my mom to the grocery store, to get her hair done, to get her nails done, and to do other things that we used to need to do on the weekend. Now we can spend our weekends just spending time with her rather than running errands.

I loved that it was close to us. It was never a contract, and I could change things if I need to. I could always get more or less hours if needed. At that time, I was able to go home, sleep in my own bed, and not worry about who was with my mom.

They definitely call when there's a problem, and they call if they can't fill the need which is important. I'm not waiting for them thinking that they can provide an aide when they can't. They give me plenty of notice, which I like, and the owner meets every family which I think is very important so that he can anticipate what the needs are in the household. I do care management. I coordinate services for older adults so for me to know that that person is going to show up, be in the house, and be there when I expect them to be is very important.

I went online and I looked at agencies that serve my geographic area and I looked at the rating that previous customers had given to the agencies, Synergy sounded like a well-rated agency so I called them. We pay for them out of the pocket because they are not Medicare certified. The only service we pay them for is home health aide to come and clean my mother and they are terrific.
