My dad was really sick and the BrightStar employees did everything that they could do, and it is a very difficult service. I think that there are moments in my father's case where the patient is sleeping or doesn't need a lot of care. In those moments, the Brightstar employee would just kind of sit. Some caregivers could have been more proactive.

The service is hit or miss. There were some caregivers that were better than others. The people who came were fine. The biggest problem I had was the administrative piece. The billing department was terrible. My biggest complaint was that they couldn't get someone who could figure out the billing system. They would tell us there was one bill past due but they can't tell us which month it was. Every month my loved one would get a statement saying they owed more than what they did. They were bothering us with notices that we haven't paid when we had. I couldn't recommend them to anyone until they fix the billing. I would go out of my way to tell people not to use them until they fix the billing system. It is horrible.

This was very stressful although I had taken into consideration that they hadn't been trained properly. A lot of the girls weren't really experience enough to know what to do. One girl got three speeding tickets when driving me around and she said she was paying them but didn't so I got in trouble with the state. Another girl cooked me a hamburger and while I was watching TV she forgot about it and all of a sudden my house was full of smoke and my curtains were discolored. Another girl worked for an institution and she didn't know how to go from institution care to private care. She washed my rugs and ruined them, although she was trainable within reason. They think whatever they do is perfect and tell me to keep my mouth shut.

BrightStar Care has a staff that is willing to help people. They pay attention. I wasn't able to anything on my own and BrightStar Care did what I needed.

BrightStar Care had a rough start. We are still working out the kinks. They were good at putting me at ease. They knew it was hard for me to get help. They promised, though, that they could do anything we asked of them. It turns out that they couldn't cover the shifts that we have asked of them. They say it is about location, but that is not what BrightStar Care said at the beginning. It has since become better, and so I hope it continues to improve. BrightStar Care seems to be very trustworthy overall, though. BrightStar Care didn't positively impact our lives at the beginning, but it has since gotten better. We will see if the current caregiver will stick around and continue providing quality care.

BrightStar Care treated me well. They treated me like they knew me. BrightStar Care would give me my medicine and my IV when they were supposed to, and I am happy now.
