In-home care and home health care provide somewhat different services to seniors with different care needs. Though both services are provided in the senior’s home, home health care is more medically focused and includes professional health services. These may include wound care, medication management, IV medicine administration and help with medical equipment. In-home care is not a medical service and caregivers do not perform medical interventions for the seniors they serve. Instead, caregivers can help perform chores around the house, assist with activities of daily living, and help out with grocery shopping, meal prep and light housekeeping. Cooking, cleaning, dressing and other activities typically fall within the scope of in-home care.
