In 2016 my wife of 42 years had a very bad stroke. We were living in Illinois at the time. After four months of hospitalization and rehabilitation she was finally able to be released to home care, but I was told she would require 24/7 support going forward. While my wife was recovering I decided to move us to Woodstock Georgia where my brother lives and we have other friends and family nearby. After consulting with knowledgeable friends and healthcare professionals, I selected BrightStar Care of Cherokee County to provide in-home care for my wife. I'm so glad I did! The services had to be arranged by phone before we actually moved here--I took my wife directly from her rehab facility in Illinois to the airport for our flight to Atlanta so everything had to be in place when we arrived. I hadn't even seen the apartment we were moving into, but I need a CNA to be there to help me tackle this new responsibility. BrightStar was extremely helpful in supporting me during this difficult transition and continued to provide CNAs 7 days a week for the next 18 months until her passing. We became very fond of our regular CNAs and I still consider them to be part of our extended family. I cannot overstate how grateful I am for the professionalism and dedication of the BrightStar team. I had regular communication with their staff and owners, and they always went above and beyond to address any scheduling changes or other concerns. You won't find a more dependable and professional provider service than BrightStar Care of Cherokee County.

I have an occupational therapist, and she works very hard to try and get my hands to work. She works very hard to do what she can to exercise my hands and get them moving. There doesn't seem to be any regulation when the therapist comes. They just frequently show up without me knowing when they are coming. I am glad they are there though. I just don't know when they are scheduled to come.

A year ago before it started, I didn't want to be here anymore, and now, the caregiver has helped me get through an awful lot and showed me how I can get through life productively. I wake up ready to get started. I would tell people that they work until they can get someone that suits you and works with everyone's schedules. All the people I've had have been exceptional.

I can't see, and for someone to be able to help makes it easier for me. I like the convenience of it, and they help me out a lot. The nurse that comes by is very nice.

I wasn't that handicapped at that point. They made sure that I didn't fall down again and that I had companionship. The people were nice, and they came and did what they were supposed to. I had no complaints.

I needed someone more than I knew so when I got someone that I liked, I was extremely pleased. When I need someone to come out when my caregiver is unavailable, they do not send people that are as qualified as the main caregiver. They might have a good personality, but if they cannot pick him up, then it is not acceptable.

Under the contract, the women were supposed to do housekeeping. Most of them did not do that. They need to be staffed more so that we avoid the call-off problem. Someone would call off, and then we didn't have anyone for a couple of days.

They send very professional and caring people that do their job. They are very professional, very caring, and they put the patient's interests as their first priority.

They seem to be a bit lazy and undependable on showing up on time. I am not using them at this time, but they have a staff problem. They did not want to come to Canton.

They could be a little more friendly and a little more understanding. I did not like the intake nurse or the representative that talked to me and screamed at me about not talking to the worker.

They need more skilled workers, that know how to deal with the elderly, and veterans. They need to have more staff. We went through a period of time where they had a hard time getting people out there.

Having the same caregiver come in and get started would have made things easier. We just needed the same person every time.

She's had a little bit of fluctuation of not having consistent people. They're very good at communicating.

It would have made my life easier, if I had the same few caregivers. I didn't like having to explain everything multiple times. We didn't like how many different caregivers we had.

The lady is very good. She just checks up on me and explains what's going on. They send out a good person to take care of my medical needs.

They help with organizing. I like the way they go from one thing to another. You don't have to lay out an itinerary before they come, but the caregiver knows what they have to do and you have to know the same thing.

If staff doesn't come she can't get out of bed and she is very frustrated, which frustrates us as a family. They need to have stable staff. W have probably had 6 to 7 staff within in the last 2 months. They do not schedule and people are either late or don't show up.

When they are here, I have a good day. So far I have liked the personnel and that they can do short hours. They are just right there when I need them.

The caregiver that we have usually does whatever we ask her to do. Their communication skills are horrible.

They could come up with things to do for me instead of asking me what I want done. They could show up on time and stay until the end of their time.

That is good. They have helped with whatever I need. I can't drive and they take me to my doctor appointments and to the grocery store. I would recommend them to anybody. I would not hesitate at all to recommend them. Every person knows what they are coming out for.

My husband has Alzheimer's, so they bathe him and feed him. The services are wonderful. They are the best company to get for home care.

They need to have better communication with me. There was no communication, they need more training, and they have bad scheduling. I would have to call to see if someone is coming.

I have had one bad incident with a poor caregiver. However, all the other caregivers have been great. They help me out by doing something I cannot do for myself. I have tried that, and only ended up hurting myself, so I would be in a real fix without them!

BrightStar Care wasn't there when I needed them most. I don't like that they didn't keep my doctor informed, and BrightStar Care didn't care about me when I was sick. BrightStar Care could have been there when I needed them, and to not be rude.
