I am not having such great care sometimes which is why I am rating it this way. I am not able to get the help I need. I have had to do things myself and after they leave if they don't do it I have to and its unsafe for me. My current person is depressed and it makes it hard for me because I did not want to say anything.

We're using Home Helpers of Enfield and we're very happy with them. One woman comes every day in the morning, and two other people handle the night for the whole week. The caregivers are very nice, they watch my mother, and they take care of her very well. They also feed her well.

We recently signed up with Home Helpers to assist my 86 year old mother with cleaning, meals, laundry etc. I contacted the franchise owner who came to our home and we developed a plan of what type of care was needed. He assured us his company could meet our needs and said to call him directly if any problems with the service occurred. We started out with one day a week for three hours per day and she did a good job. However, when we needed to add more days , the care providers sent were substandard. The young woman sent on 31 Dec arrived and was coughing continuously. She stated she had a bad cold for the past several days. She did not put a mask on until my mother asked if she had one. My mother later asked her to bring up two small area rugs for the bathroom that were hanging on the drying rack in the basement. She came up with the old rugs that were in front of the washing machine. When it was pointed out that these were not the right rugs, she said she didn’t know what is a drying rock. My mother then just told her to put the rugs back. After she left the house, my mother noticed a light was left on in the basement and went down to turn it off. She also found the door was left open to the unheated basement. I called the franchise owner, told him what occurred and asked why they would send a sick caregiver to care for an elderly person. I then asked to replace her. On 7 Jan 20, Home Helpers sent a new person who arrive 45 minutes late and by her own admission was a heavy smoker and reaked of smoke. My mother immediately asked her to leave before it triggered an asthma attack. I immediately called the owner and instead of being alarmed and wanting to correct the problems, he just said he didn’t think this is going to work. I immediately cancelled service with the company. I believe the home care provided by Home Helpers was very poor and actually put my mother at risk of getting sick or falling. The franchise owner states the people working for him are all his employees and well trained, but the reality is he doesn’t have enough quality people. I would not recommend this company for any home care for your loved one.

The person in charge of Home Helpers was very conscientious and thorough. He came to the house in the beginning and assessed the type of care she needed. Home Helpers should've been a little more proactive about communicating about what needs to be done. The caregiver could've checked with us before doing anything that the client asked them to do.

So far, there has been no negative experience. The first caregiver who came just didn't connect, so they gave us two other caregivers, and these two are both great. William doesn't do anything on his own. When he goes up to the shower and comes back down, they remind him of all that he has to do. They make sure everything's done.

This latest one, my caregiver does everything before I even think of it. She's right there,m takes care of me, cleans around me, and just cares. Everything about it is easier. My caregiver makes my meals, she'll help me dress, shower, and I couldn't get in the tub at all if she didn't help me. She makes my bed, cleans around me, reminds me to take my pills, and she's good all around.
