My sister was sent to Denver hospice and within a few hours of being at the facility when here family was not present she was told that she was not sick enough to be there and they would be moving her. The staff did not even give her a 24 hr evaluation. This news given to her made her very distraught. When we arrived shortly within minutes of her being told this and spoke to the case worker and PNA and was told she was not ill enough to be at the facility. Mind you a team of 6 doctors and a hospice employee had all evaluated and said this is where she was in this fase of life. The staff at Denver hospice made there recommendations with her being at their facility less than 12 hours earlier. Within less than hour she was in servers pain almost having convulsions due to the lack of medication needed for pain. We went and asked for nurse to come to the room and no one came after 5 minutes I started pushing the nurse button and the CNA came a rushed out of the room to get the nurse. The nurse gave her pain medication. When my sister came back to 1 1/2 later her first words were why are they going to move me. We assured her she was not moving. The staff quickly reversed the opinion she was not sick enough to be there. She past within two 1/2. days being at Denver Hospice. The following days were better but what happened to her should have never happened.

My father in law, age 89 was cared for by The Denver Hospice for nearly 11 months. Had he not been with the Denver Hospice, he would have been hospitalized 4 times. A nurse came to our house every time he needed help to keep him home and comfortable. My Mother-in-law was helped tremendously in caregiving, in planning for the eventualities of end of life, and with partners in care that she grew to love. I was shocked that his pulmonologist didn't order hospice, and I had to ask his PCP. I have no idea why some doctors shy away from helping people work through their final chapters of life. My gratitude is deep for the care we all received from The Denver Hospice! And, I love that they are a Not for Profit organization!

Run! this is a horrible provider. When we were looking for a nursing home, several refused my Mother because she was under Denver Hospice care .We could not place her in the 2 nursing homes we liked because of this. When we did find a nursing home that would take Denver Hospice and she was placed .The visiting hospice RNs did not care for her she had the same bandage on for 3 weeks. Denver hospice RN told the nursing home staff not to call our family to tell us of her decline in health. The hospice RN then left, leaving my Mother to pass away without her family being notified that she was declining and without notifying clergy. I walked into my Mothers room to find her dead and cold . Then half hour later was pressured by hospice staff administration to find a crematorium so that she could be disposed of quickly. She was never seen by a Dr or coroner . I now see why may nursing homes will not take Denver Hospice as a provider.

When my mother was diagnosed with multiple myeloma we had never heard of her diagnosis and were so traumatized by the disease we never thought of care. Denver hospice provided all of the support we needed (including a volunteer that came and sat with her so we could go do errands). When she had to go to the center for her last weeks the team took excellent care of her and we were treated like family. The nurses, chaplain, social worker all were very helpful and answered questions throughout the day and hight.

I can't thank The Denver Hospice enough for being there when we needed them most when my father passed away in their compassionate care. Our nurse treated us like family, the chaplain brought us much needed comfort while the CNA was very helpful in providing personal care that would be difficult for us to deliver on our own. To our entire Denver Hospice team, we say thank you!

I would like to express my gratitude to The Denver Hospice for the wonderful care of my mom. She wanted to stay in her home and The Denver Hospice team came to her to make that happen. The entire Denver Hospice team treated her with dignity and respect while also looking out for our entire family to ensure we were doing OK. We are so grateful to have found such a compassionate, caring group of people.

RUN!! DON'T WALK away from Denver Hospice!! They have demonstrated consistent disorganization and a lack of professionalism and responsiveness! Have bern on hold for over 30 minutes tonight with an urgent concern about my father. Still no response. "Pam R.N." literally chewed me out for asking her to start an iv that was ordered 6 hours ago. She is angry at "the day shift for leaving this" for her to do. I have been a physician for 20 years and am stunned by her callousness and complete lack of empathy. Tomorrow, we will be exploring other hospice options.
