Watch out - this is a hard sell company that behaves in unethical ways. We had a very informative phone conversation with them regarding possible hospice services for my dad. We got some great information which helped us understand the entire hospice process and requirements. That being said, once the phone call was over, we felt more like we were being sold than that my dad's care was the priority. They checked back with me a week later, as I had agreed to. I told them that their services were no longer under consideration because they were not a good fit for my dad at this time. Several weeks later, I got a follow-up phone call from them to go over what their staff doctor had discussed with my dad's primary care physician. We had never signed any type of waiver or consent form for them to access my dad's medical records, and I had made it clear that their services were not in line with my dad's needs at this time. They were going behind our backs to get this information. And calling to share this information with me was just another sales tactic. I didn't listen to their assessment, told them they had no right for their doctor to have contacted my dad's doctor and told them to remove us immediately from their prospect list. If my dad ever does need hospice care, Vitas won't even be on the list of companies to contact.

Vitas Healthcare provided our aunt excellent care in her last days, in her assisted living facility. This time was during the Covid Pandemic so we were not able to visit but were kept informed every day as to her condition and what types of treatment/care were being administered. Vitas offered spiritual support through a chaplain and offered grief counseling as well. We were very impressed with the level of professionalism and empathy provided by all of the Vitas staff we spoke with during this time.

Janice W. RN and her team members, John, Anwell,Eileen, Anna,Denice, Chaplin Al The most caring, compassionate, loving group of professionals we have ever met. The Care given to our loved one was excellent. Every need was met with speed and accuracy. During his long illness they came daily when needed and always when they said they would be here. Thank you from our hearts for your dedication from start to finish..May God always keep us humble. Sincerely Joseph and Joe Ann Penn.

This company sent out different LVN's everyday. My Mother used their services just under 3 weeks. During that time she received help from 3 competent LVN's the rest were horrible. We had to ask one LVN to leave the home do to his insistence that he was in charge of the home, patient and distribution of opioids he planned to administer. Another female nurse, decided she would cook my Mother French toast and then did nothing else for the entire 8 hours. During that 8 hours I changed my Mothers diapers 4 times, due to her stage 4 bedsore I had to turn her every hour. The female LVN did absolutely nothing besides talk about her divorce and children and ran down to her car several times. The case manager was also useless, when we stated we wanted to file a complaint she refused to pass on our complaint. The only responsibility the LVN's were concerned with was being able to give morphine. It was disgusting listening to them trying to push their drugs onto Mother who cannot even take morphine but the LVN's did not care they just wanted the patient quiet and to leave them alone. One more thing, only 3 LVN's stayed in my Mothers room with her, the rest sat out in the living room or dining room texting and doing their so-called paperwork. Horrible experience!

I think this hospice care is awful. We have been using them for my grandmother for 6 months, and as her final days are approaching, we feel they just don't care. Her bedsores are being left with old band aids, and her medicine isn't arriving as promised. It took a week to get medicine we were told would arrive the next day. Just getting a nurse to check in is near impossible. It can take 12-14 hours for a nurse to show up after we call. I think a cable repairman could show up faster. She hadnt even been bathed in 5 days! Every independent nurse we've hired has said Vitas in the worst, and has said Hospice Care of California is better.

Vitas, a hospice provider, has been caring for my 89 year old mother for over 2 years. Because of the compassion and professional care given by their staff, my mom no longer has to go to doctors offices and wait for hours until she is seen. The doctors and nurses of Vitas visit mom in her home on a regular basis, order all her medicines, provide bathing services, religious services and assist with any questions I might have regarding my mom's condition. Vitas has made a difficult situation so much easier for me and my family.

The nurses and aides were just wonderful. They were supportive when needed, efficient in their care, and always kept us informed. My Mother died as she wished in peace. My family felt we could trust those in charge and this gave us great relief. Our association with Vitas for this short period will be remembered as a gift we received from these very caring givers at our time of need.
