My mother is in hospice right now and the care is being coordinated through VITAS. She is being cared for in my sister's home right now. They get support from a nurse that comes a couple times a week and there's a certified nursing aide that comes in and gives her baths a couple times a week. There's a chaplain that comes in and inquires about the needs of the family. They have a doctor who has visited and checked out my mother's health. The nurses seem pretty good and fairly good at providing supplies.

Dear GFIDYQI, we appreciate your feedback. Sincerely, Avni Parekh

We were using VITAS Healthcare for my mom when she was still alive. They supplied all that she needed that a hospital would supply. She had a bath aide and an RN that comes into our house once a week. We chose them because they were highly recommended. We were with them for two weeks, and they were excellent. They carried out everything that they promised.
Provider Response

I’m sorry for your loss and though the circumstances weren’t ideal, I am glad that VITAS was able to provide quality, compassionate care to your mother. I have shared your feedback with the team, it will make them happy to know you and your family were pleased. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Sincerely, Avni Parekh

Indicate the nature of your experience with the provider: Horrible, I feel guilty and I regret picking this hospice. Have firsthand experience with the listed service provider within three (3) years of review submission yes, Vitas is currently the Hospice for my loved one. Not be an employee, former employee, or paid representative of the service provider No I am not. Not be or represent a competitor of the service provider being reviewed No I am Not I set up a loved one 4 weeks ago with Vitas, and it has been a nightmare. The communication within the hospice, among nurses, and doctors is incredibly poor. The communication with the patient is poor, and instructions are not clear. The nurses rush in and out. As well,Communication to Family contacts, is incredibly poor, late, or none. By not communication properly among themselves, Vitas has poor internal communication among the team. The hospice often did not know if a nurse or doctor was even on the way. The patient is always unsure if the nurse is coming by. Medication was often delivered late. The team assisting my loved one was incredibly rude at all times, with the exception of signing up. My loved one has become so stressed by the lack of care, (often for days), and I myself am stressed beyond belief, due to the lack of care and communication. The Vitas website advertises things on their website that they do not fulfill. (Communication, bereavement support (would I be writing this review if they followed through with this?), Does not assist the patient at home as advertised. We are currently still experiencing problems with this hospice. The patient out of frustration has decided to try to terminate service with them altogether.

My mom spent her last days at the Vitas Hospice room at Shoreline Care Center. It was exceptional. The room would normally have two patients in it but it was remodeled to have a private bathroom. It also had two recliners, a table and a chair, a countertop and a refrigerator. There was bedspread on the bed and the room also had a dark wood cabinet. We had 8 people visiting at a time in the room with my mom. There was a curtain at the door so you would completely feel that you weren't in a nursing home. It made all the difference. They even let me climb into bed to take a nap with my mom. Also, when the family was there, the staff brought in cookies and coffee. They were just really nice.

My dad already passed away. VITAS was good in providing services and we were happy with the way they took good care of my dad. They did a good job. I mean death is a natural thing and it happens.
