Having the right health aide is extremely important. Getting to know each client would help a great deal when choosing a health aide for the client. My current aide ( Olivia ) is by far the best I have had since needing a home aide. She is on task her entire shift each day throughout the week. And, we get along perfectly.

The caregivers have had several absences due to illness, and I have not got the people I asked for. I have wanted to get regular people but so far it isn't working out too well. Right now it has been a little up and down, but I also just recently started the services. I think they could have a little more of an eye for detail. They have looked over little things like replacing the empty paper towel roll in the kitchen or not refilling the water when it is empty. I have shown them what I need, and I understand it is a learning curve.

I think the care is usually really good from the caregiver. I think the agency could keep me informed about who is coming. They should be calling the client if the regular caregiver is coming or not or if there is a substitute. It can be a fearful thing to not know if the person at the door is actually a caregiver. She's polite, conscientious, and when I wobble, she always seems to be there to grab me. I'm trying to hold onto my independence while I can.
