Our mom, Ruth K., was a patient at Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center for about two months. We, as her two daughters, and Mom, are pleased to write a very positive review of this facility. We found this rehab center to be light, airy, clean, upbeat with a calming and pleasant atmosphere. The extensive windows, throughout the hallways, gave you a feeling of openness. Mom felt that the staff was very attentive and cognizant of her needs. This encompassed her dietary, medical, physical and occupational requirements. They were always eager to accommodate her.If a question arose, management responded very quickly. Mom appreciated the friendliness and eagerness for help, and never felt isolated. After researching and visiting numerous rehab sites, we selected Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center; and we are certainly pleased that we did!

The rooms are small but clean, most of the staff are very helpful, patient and kind, Nurse Audre Doyle is a precious gemstone. She attends to my mother with a kind heart. I think the Unit Manager is new she has excellent nursing skills, and she is very helpful. Christine in activities is a delight to be around. My mother looks forward to Christine. Judos to Victoria and her team.

The food is pretty good, it’s clean and bright. Many of the staff have a bad attitude & I’ve had the run around when asking for help. Therapists are good. In my opinion, this is one of the better rehabs in the area.

Im my opinion you should not believe any good reviews. My relative was there and they doped her up put her in a diaper and left her there until her insurance was up. I know dementia patients are difficult but why accept them if you are not capable of treating them?! She got no rehab at the rehab and was worse off than before she went. These are just one persons opinion. My family visited there and it was not pleasant to say the least. They tried to convince my family to transfer her there or to an affiliate permanently $$$$. They couldn't even stop her from falling numerous times and then tried to tell me she is better off there. I think they are addicted to the $$$... I will leave it there. Check up on your family regularly at that facility and bring in your own advocate. In my opinion they dont care about anything but the cash. I feel the Florida Attorney general should be brought in to review.I wish you well...

My mom is at Margate Health and Rehabilitation Center. I think she's doing well. I like the physical therapist that she's working with, and her doctors communicate well. The facility is clean. They are there when she needs them so I could only say good things with them. She is sharing a room. She's had a couple of different people staying in her room at one time. But, yes, I guess it's kind of like the hospital. She has her own TV. They have games and they have some kind of events and stuff for them as well, so they don't get bored. They get to communicate with each other, which is nice. There's one courtyard and then they have these outside rooms that are kind of like a lanai closed in and screened that they could sit outside and play games. It's decent. They have birds and the people like to go outside and sit in the courtyard, and they have all these birds in cages, and they play music for them. So, they just not sitting there by themselves. I think it's in good shape. It's older, maybe built in the 60s, but it's clean just not like the newer facilities. But it's okay, I guess. It has all the essential things needed. It could be updated. They would have more activities, but due to Covid, I believe they told me that they're not having as many.

My father is there after major surgery - he is in his 90's but lucid, active and energetic for his age. He constantly complains about the food and the CNAs - they treat him roughly and they are unfriendly. In addition, with COVID, we have limited opportunity to visit him. So, when we have concerns, the staff does not return our calls or reach out to us about his care. We are pulling my father out of there as soon as possible. I would NOT recommend this facility.

If my mother did not have Dementia I would take her out of this place. I can’t move her because of the Demtentia. The food is horrible they hire people that don’t know how to cook or they just don’t care it’s just a job for them. They are understaffed everyone says they will take care of the problem that you may have but that only last for a few days then the lazy CNA’S are back to being lazy again. The picture’s they show on the website are old picture’s before my mom came there. The ladies that work in the Dining room are great and are very caring. The Activity Room has a great Actvity Director she has two women DeeDee and Marie work their butts off and I think they do a great job with the residents. If you have to put a loved one in a nursing home PLEASE check on them everyday and don’t be afraid to speak up if you have any issues.

The Nurses are great but the CNA are absolutely sub par . The facility is understaffed and has caused my mom to remain in wet clothing because no one is around to take her to the bathroom. She needs to wear a sling on a daily basis but no one is trained on how to put it on. I went one day and it was around her neck like a noose. I am completely disgusted. Look elsewhere before making a decidion

This facility is disgusting. During Hurricane Irma, they were not prepared. For days families went with no contact to their loved ones in the facility because they had no emergency plan in place for the electricity.Once insurance cuts he bill for PT there is no follow up on their so called restorative care to maintain the resident as they were received. Which explains why they scored low in this quality measure with Medicare They have multiple law suits on file for wrongful death and negligence and I have witnessed first hand why . Patients are never changed, turned, toileted or ambulated . Do yourself a favor you love your family, don't place them here or expect them to die in months

Physical therapy is great, food menu is decent... but help on the floor in rooms has a lot to be desired. You press the call button and a caregiver comes in, turns it off, says she will be right back and usually doesn't return for an hour... if she even returns. And this is not just one person... they all seem to do this. I don't know if it's laziness or being understaffed, but I find it extremely unprofessional and frustrating to deal with constantly.

My mom is currently in this facility. It takes at least 30 MINUTES before anyone answers a call light. AND.- If you are sitting on the bed pan it takes another 30 minutes for someone to take you off-. The staff has a very uncaring attitude. They make her wait for pain medication- after having hip surgery. I didn't think we lived in "that era" anymore....

My husband was a resident of Margate Healthcare Center. It was a clean facility. He was in a nice room that he shared with another man. It had plenty of room for both of them. My husband was only there for 18 days. It was supposed to be a good facility and they're supposed to give him therapy in the morning and afternoon, which he didn't get. They always had an excuse, e.g., they said he didn't like it. I would go there just to make sure that that they would come and get him for his therapy. I would also make sure that he would eat. I wanted for them to give my husband once-a-week shower, but he was there already for a week and a half and they didn't do that either. You constantly had to remind them. After 18 days, they said he was not progressing, so I just took him home. I would also say that they're understaffed. They need more help in there. Food was okay. My husband would order what he wanted.

My mom has been in Margate Health Care Center for two weeks now. It was referred to us by the hospital. Our experience there is very good. The facility is very good and beautiful. It is very clean. The staff is very helpful; they're good. The food is also good. They do have activities there. My mom went to rehab everyday and then they have games, presentations, etc. She likes this place.

I feel that Margate Health Care Center is a wonderful place to reside the elderly who can no longer care for themselves. My grandfather lived there for about a year before he died. Every time my family went to visit him, that staff was friendly and helpful. They also were able to give us details on how my grandfather was doing and they truly seemed to enjoy their jobs. The facility was very clean, updated and had many amenities. Most of the residents were keep active by playing games like Shuffleboard and Bingo and if the staff did not have anything planned for that particular day, they would allow the residents to go outside to the recreation area to relax or even take a walk with a staff member. My grandfather wanted to be home with the family, so he did try to escape a time or two but the staff must have kept a close eye on him because he never made it past the emergency exit. My experience with this nursing home was great and I have recommended it to many of my friends with older or sick relatives.
