HarborChase of Shorewood was a little bit farther for us, but the facility was very nice. Their marketing director's name was John and he has just been fantastic throughout the whole thing. He talked to Mom and kind of kept her calm and engaged and always checked up on us and just all around a very nice man. The rooms were great. They had one and two-bedroom places with balconies. They're very nice and large, too. It was almost like a full on apartment or small condo. They have a pub for happy hour. They've got an exercise facility. Their restaurant was very nice with beautiful decorations. We stayed for lunch there and the food was very good, but it was just very small portions. I wanted more. They had a private garden. The first night I was there, they had a local choir come in and sing. So, that was nice. They have activities throughout the day.

I visited HarborChase of Shorewood and I like the whole place. The employees were great. They were all very friendly. The chef was also very friendly and very nice. The food smelled good as we were leaving. They even offered to have a meal. April was amazing. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. She was great. The facility was clean. There was no urine smell when you open the doors. It was great.

I have chosen HarborChase of Shorewood because it has all of the things that we need, and the other ones didn't have as much. This community has a lot of activities inside and out the place. It's nice, bright, and modern. The rooms are very nice. We had an in-person tour, and not a virtual tour. They have nice parking for not only the residents but for the family, and it's very close to our house. It just checked all our boxes. The staff are very good, very knowledgeable, and very friendly. They're quick to respond, got us in for a quick tour, and answered our questions. They're very good. They have a restaurant with a nice kitchen, and a very nice dining room; they have a lot of onsite activities, and they have an outdoor courtyard with a fire pit. Their activities when it's outside of COVID are very good. They have lots of theaters, tours, and dinners.

Overall Harbor Chase is a very nice facility and my mother is happy there. What I wish I would have known before moving my parents there however was that the yearly cost increases are much higher than what we were told they would be. We were told that the yearly increases would be in the 3% - 3.5% range. That seems to be the norm for assisted living facilities in Milwaukee. The 1st yearly increase for us was 6.1%. Second year was 8% and the 3rd year 7.3%. The annual cost of living index for these periods, as provided by the US government, was around 2%. In just 3 years our yearly cost has gone up almost $13,000. Had I known that in the beginning we probably would have chosen another facility. Aside from that however I am satisfied with Harbor Chase. It's an attractive, clean, modern facility with a very nice staff. The food is good and the staff tries to keep the residents occupied with a variety of things to do. There is a significant amount of staff turnover but new hires seem to be competent and caring for the most part. If exorbitant yearly rent increases don't bother you then I would recommend Harbor Chase. If you're cost conscious however you'd need to judge for yourself whether the positive aspects justify the drastic yearly cost increases.

The staff has all been very kind and helpful. They have a library, fireplaces, patios, televisions outside, and they have restaurants. It's all very nice.

We went to HarborChase of Shorewood. Inside, the facilities were lovely. However, in the winter, you can glimpse a view of the Milwaukee River, but it is right on Capitol Drive. And while there is a dog park, you have to cross Capitol Drive; I cannot see a 91-year old woman trying to cross there with a small dog at her side. Norma didn’t want to live in the city, and she said that every corner of that street looks out to a busy road, so she didn’t like that at all. There was nothing wrong with the facility, and they were very nice. They did a very good job taking us around and answering all our questions, and it was pet-friendly. There was no lack of facilities there at all. It would be nice if it was west of the river, not east of the river. It is like a city hub, and the traffic never stops. The location is not good, but the facility is first class. But if you don’t want to live in the city, you don’t want to live there.

Harbor Chase is run like a cruise ship; you can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner anytime you want. The chef is absolutely incredible; I’ve eaten there 3 times, and it’s just top notch. They have a coffee bistro with scones. It’s incredible, but very expensive. They’ve got a work-out room, crafts, TV specials, and programs. You name it, it’s probably there.

HarborChase of Shorewood is terrific. I am happy with the staff. They have been extremely helpful in helping me with all the paperwork, and they are very accommodating in making sure my mom gets all the care she needs without any restrictions. Mom’s room is great although small.
