I had written up a lengthy review on this facility but decided against divulging details of mom's stay here out of respect for her privacy. So all I will say is this is one of the worst nursing homes I've ever encountered over the years in helping my family with stays at SNFs. Some of the staff were short-tempered with mom, belittling, and careless. Mom did not feel safe here. In the short time she was here, her health declined, and she ended up back in the hospital. Staff ignored concerns noted by the family. I would not send my worst enemy here!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

We chose this nursing home partly because of the location. It's located in the same town my sister resides. She was also an old employee of this place. She thought our mother is safe there because of the familiar environment. The facility is just small but it's clean. There's no stinky odor even from soiled laundry. My mom would like a private room but the rooms are shared. The only good thing is that she has a very nice roommate. They had several activities but they don't really allow mobility since others could still walk. Most activities include concerts, bingo games, arts and crafts and watching movies. The staffs are very nice. They call her by name; they are familiar with her likes and dislikes. Her personality and humor are appreciated too. In addition, they reach out to the residents in their own time and with their own money. For example, they give them Christmas gifts according to the residents' likes, wants and needs. My mom is diabetic and she always feels cold even in summer. They got her a warm, nice, soft fluffy blanket which she really loves. They also give her sugar free chocolate that can't harm her and they hide it in a place where she can't have too much of it. If there's anything this facility could improve its more workers for the residents. I don't blame them for this because most money for the workers comes from the government. But the nursing home could ask volunteers from family members to address this issue. Volunteers could bring residents outside and help in other labor intensive task like carrying residents. In addition, they could ask family members to bring in pets. Animals could cheer residents up if they're sad or angry. This could also help in memory care. For instance, it really shows in my mother's eyes how happy she is if she sees my dog now which is similar to my dog when I was young. My mother recently said that she will give up everything to go home. But the place where she is right now isn't home but it's a good one. And it's the next best thing to home.
