My mom was here for rehab. We realized she couldn't be home anymore and decided to place her here. She liked it there, the nurses took great care of her, the place was very clean. Everyone was very helpful with us. From rehab they got a room for her, it was a large room, she really liked it and I brought a lot of stuff to make it feel like home. my mom was very weak from having sepsis and she just keep going down hill. She doesn't have long to live now but she thanked the staff and nurses for the excellent cate. They always kept me informed on her progress. I would recommend this place highly. A very great full daughter.

My mother was there for rehab after surgery. They did not do good wound care. She had a bad infection the first time. They did not call her doctor or family with concerns. She ended up in the hospital 9 days. Then went back for 13 days ended up with an uti and pneumonia and has been in the hospital 18 days. She may even had a seizure by the time I got her to the hospital on the 5th of Jan. I am very disappointed in this care facility. Then to top it off they called 15 days later to see when she was coming back. She is fighting for her life as I type this.

My father was recently admitted to Edgewater Haven. He has diabetes and stage 4 cancer. My mom, his only caregiver for the past several years, has been ignored by the staff and is not given any deference regarding my father's care. His diabetes medication schedule has been changed without consulting anyone, and his blood sugar is very high now. A speech therapist came to see him, but my mom was not in the room, and the speech therapist put him on a puree diet because he would not speak to her (he will not talk to very many people without my mom present), and he will not eat the pureed food. He is having multiple problems, and it seems that the nursing staff is just ignoring them. My dad should be receiving hospice care, but it seems that only the bare minimum of care is being given. I wish there was an alternative to this. Both my dad's parents were also at Edgewater Haven, and they both died there. They were also given very minimum care, and my grandmother fell out of bed at least twice and broke her hip. Relatives that came to visit were told that they couldn't put up the bed rail.

My husband is at Edgewater Haven nursing home and it was wonderful. The staff were equipped to handle him and they were very caring. He was only there for five days and he died, but they were wonderful. The room was adequate. The facility is very clean and well managed.

The employees at this facility were friendly and caring, yet sometimes seemed incompetent for the work they were doing. They were very kind to the residents and the visitors, yet there were times when some of the residents appeared to be neglected. Some residents appeared to be unclean and lacked in attention. I remember one specific incident where a resident was choking during dinner and it took over a minute for an employee to respond to the situation. The facility could also use some updates. It's appearance is old and dingy. The lights are not very bright, the equipment, such as wheelchairs, are very outdated. These reasons are probably the reason why the facility is not very expensive. Although it may be the only option for some people, I would not recommend it as a place of living for someone's loved ones. I would spend the extra money to make sure your loved one is being properly cared for and is living in a facility that is equipped to handle all situations.
