I was very blessed to find such a wonderful place for my Mother and Father. My Father passed away, but my Mom still lives in their one bedroom apartment. There is a cleaning lady who comes once a week and also does the laundry. I love Mom’s charming apartment. There are many meals that she enjoys very much. She participates in exercise class, enjoys Thursday Bingo, and several other games that they play. Library Terrace has a vegetable garden and also grows herbs that are used in their meals. They have programs with little children that come and also therapy dogs, which she loves. I feel my Mom is safe and receives excellent care. My Mom is also only a few blocks from my house, so it is very convenient for me to visit her! Library Terrace Assisted Living is the best, and I am so grateful that she is there!!
What you can do with Caring
About Library Terrace Assisted Living in Kenosha, Wisconsin
Small enough to be home-like yet large enough to offer the amenities and services one might expect in larger senior communities. Library Terrace offers a continuum of care in a long-established, single-family home neighborhood. Located adjacent to the Kenosha Southwest Neighborhood Library, the campus is conveniently situated near Festival Foods, Walgreen's pharmacy, banking, medical clinics, churches, restaurants and much more! The campus consists of Library Terrace Apartments ? 26 apartment units where seniors can age in place --- and Library Terrace Suites ? 20 units for seniors with higher care needs. Offering a continuum of care allows seniors to move while still relatively independent and then age in place as their needs change over time. Our chefs get to know the food preferences of each of our residents and menus feature fresh fruits and vegetables plus high-quality meats and fish. We offer life-enriching activities tailored to the interests of our residents and include a Senior Fitness program with yoga class. Our full-time on-campus registered nurse does weekly wellness checks and works closely with our direct care staff to monitor changes in condition. The smaller building size can ease the transition from a home of many years and allows new residents to quickly get to know the staff and other residents. Service packages are based on the nurse assessment and customized to meet individual needs. Levels of care allow service levels to be increased or decreased as resident needs change. At Library Terrace the focus is on the whole person including physical, spiritual, social and mental well-being. My mom is at Library Terrace Assisted Living-Suites. The facilities are very nice. The staff are very nice. The food is very good. My mom loves it there. The negative is that, if she ever got to the point where she needed a lift to get her up and down and everything, they wouldn't be able to support her. And then the other negative would be that they only have two rooms for Medicaid, and eventually my mom is going to have to go on Medicaid, so that's a little scary. The staff are very helpful and very friendly. She has not had any concerns about not having help when she needs it. She said the food is very good. They have activities in the community room, like for Cinco de Mayo they had a party out on the patio. They have raised garden beds that the residents can help with, they do games, and bingo is a regular. They do activities every day. Everything is in really good shape. The maintenance people were very helpful in getting my mom set up in a room, getting her TV mounted to the wall, and all that kind of stuff. It's outrageously expensive, but everywhere is. They're very comparable or maybe even a little bit on the lower end.

We like Library Terrace Assisted Living for Mom because it's right in her neighborhood. The staff was extremely caring, and the facility was small enough that it had a very homey feeling. It had received an award for one of the best facilities in the Kenosha area. We were very comfortable with the facility and the other amenities it offered. The staff members that gave the tour were very personable, very caring, knew the patients by their first name, and seemed to give them individualized attention. They have a hair salon, they have exercise equipment for the clients, and they have a patio where they can go outside and enjoy the neighborhood. It's in a residential setting. They have an activities director that plans activities throughout the week for the residents.

We just came from Library Terrace Assisted Living. It was clean. I liked it. It was nice. We just looked at the assisted living. We saw a gathering room, and we saw their patio; both were nice. They had bingo. They had an activity director there. It was a homey atmosphere. It was well maintained, and they were in the process of doing some renovating. They were painting, which was nice. It had a fresh look.

Was pleased to learn that my cousin could keep her cat at this facility. The rooms are spacious and homey with large windows that give a great view. Lunch and dinner are exceptionally made with a variety of fresh ingredients. The talented chefs give personal individual care to everyone at every meal. The owners and staff always go the extra mile to make their residents feel at home. Many activities are planned throughout the day. Which becomes a good way to make friends. I have recommended this facility to other friends. After looking at other places like I did, they agreed that this was the best place to call home.

We visited several assisted living facilities in the area with my dad. All were good, but The Library Terrace stood out as the best match for my dad. He is in his 90’s and uses a walker but tires on long distances. Since there are only 20 suites on one floor the shorter walks several times a day gives him the right amount of exercise that he remains independent. Also, he has some memory problems, so having the centrally located large dining room and short hallways has made it easier for him to get around. The staff is fabulous. Kind, patient, courteous are the words that come to mind. They know my dad very well and do not hesitate to contact me if something just does not seem right. The food is excellent. He is given a choice at each meal and it is served restaurant style. There are numerous activities scheduled per day. The activity director has a wonderful knack of encouraging my dad to participate in activities. He loves to be outside during the nice weather and makes sure he makes it out to the covered patio. The Library Terrace is very clean and well maintained. When you walk in, there is a feeling of comfort and being home.

Library Terrace Assisted Living was very clean and organized. The staff was very friendly. They just wouldn't be able to accommodate my father because he was bedridden. The dining room was clean, organized, and homey. Everything was well lit. Our questions were answered and they took their time. Everything was well maintained and it felt homey. There's ample parking.

My dad is at Library Terrace. It's good. The people seem friendly. There are sufficient staff members to take care of my dad's needs. They don't have a lot of amenities because it is a small place. They have a library room with a TV if you want to go outside of your apartments. They have all the meals in an area where you can have your meals, they have three different spots outside where you can sit if you want to be outside, they have people that come in and do exercises with the residents, and they have some recreational activities too. My dad seems to like the food; he hasn't complained about it. Overall, the place is clean and updated, and the people are nice. The staff members have been very helpful. My dad has had a few issues, but they have been great with him.

Library Terrace has been a God-Send for our family. We are now blessed with the peace of mind that comes with knowing our Dad is safe and well-cared for. We tried what we could to keep him at home. Senior delivery meals were often found half eaten. The turnover with in-home care was so frequent we were never confident or comfortable having so many different people coming and going. He wasn’t eating healthy meals, he wasn’t staying hydrated, he was at risk for falls, and he was either sleeping or watching TV most of the day. His quality of life was gone. Life has changed for Dad. He is getting regular, “home-cooked” meals; he exercises daily, he participates in activities with other residents and keeps updated on current events. His Suite and the surrounding common areas are well-appointed, but homey. The number of suites is small enough that he knows all of his neighbors and the staff. Activity Director Robin has become a member of the family; Campus Nurse Sarah is attentive to anything that he needs. He remarks regularly on how quickly a staff member arrives when he calls – even if it is just to open the twist off cap off a drink. He has his own Suite decorated just as he likes it; the grounds are beautiful and provide an opportunity for bird watching and gardening. He is truly living in a community and I can't begin to say enough about his new home.

It didn't feel as good as I walked in Library Terrace Assisted Living. There were only around 4 residents sitting around talking, but it was so noisy. I could not understand why it was so noisy because these 4 people weren't even talking loud. It may be the acoustics or the high ceiling. I don't know; I just didn't like it from the very beginning. I just talked to the one who showed me around. The whole place just kind of turned me off. I think they need to improve on the overall appearance and their presentation.

Library Terrace Assisted Living has activities like crafts. It has a little room where they do puzzles, and they have exercise equipment. It's a small community, so they can give the residents more attention. Dad has a 1-bedroom which is very nice. It has 2 closets, and the size is good. The bathroom has a nice cabinet and bars to help him get up from his wheelchair. The neighborhood is nice, too. There are religious services, and they also have laundry services.
