My mother moved into Meadowbrook Senior Living, and with COVID restrictions, it's been difficult. We haven't been able to visit without an appointment, so you can't just drop by, and that's been hard. We can't see her room, so that's been hard too. Staff wise, I'm only talking to people on the phone, which I feel is not the best situation. It would be nice to be able to sit down and talk one-on-one with somebody, but the staff has answered my questions, they've been generous, and they've called me back. COVID restrictions have made it hard. I volunteered there as a hospice volunteer, so I knew a lot of the staff, and even a lot of the residents, so that's why I wanted Mom to be there. There are minimal activities going on, they do things room to room, so all of that is disappointing. I've talked to the nurses, the charge nurse, and the therapist, so I feel like I have a good idea of what's going on with her. You just can't pop in any time and stay as long as you want, and activities are limited. There are two beds in her room, although one of them was not occupied at the time. Before they had activities morning and afternoon, because I would go and volunteer there. They would have bingo, big auctions, play dice, and have tea parties. All of that ended with COVID, but it's just now kind of getting going. They are allowing residents together, but with social distancing. They have an atrium in the middle of the building, we sat out there, and they planted a lot of flowers. They have a little pond, and when weather permits, I can take Mom out there, which is nice to get outside.

Knapp Haven Nursing Home is divided into two major wings: the assisted living and the nursing home. My aunt currently lives in the assisted living portion, and it was quite nice. The staff there is really good. The people are very accommodating when you come and visit them. Therefore, ten to fifteen of my relatives have gone to that community. Initially, she was able to bring a lot of furniture because she got a large bedroom with a full dresser and a queen size bed. She also has a room for a dining table. She has a walk-in shower and a galley type kitchen too. My aunt plays bingo and does light excercises. They also have sewing and music clubs. I once had a lunch with my aunt there. We just had a sandwich and soup, but everything was good. Their dining area is large with one full wall of nothing but windows. There is also a common park-like area outfront, which is very well lit. The good thing about it is that it is a small community, and people know each other.
