I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad moved into Stonerise Morgantown. It is extremely clean, welcoming, bright, and cheery. While at my home, my dad was limited to the bed and wore a lift chair. At Stonerise, he goes out into a central area with other people in palliative care. He sits in a wheelchair and eats his meals with other people. He has socialization. The staff that I've seen and observed were very attentive and kind. They allow visiting of your family members at any hour of the day or night. The rooms are nice. They have a physical therapy area, game room, and dining room.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I spent time at Mapleshire both as an acute care patient and as an outpatient for physical, occupational, and speech therapy after suffering a stroke and heart failure. The nursing staff were all highly skilled, attentive, and compassionate. The therapists were also all highly skilled, and determined to achieve as much rehabilitation as I was capable of. They provided an individualized vigorous and challenging workout while at the same time maintaining a kind and at times humorous environment. The rooms were comfortable and quiet. Everyone from administration, front desk staff, nutritionist, kitchen staff to cleaning personnel all appeared focused on providing as comfortable and healing an experience as possible.

My father was a resident here, it was unexpected that he had to be placed there after a fall. I had no idea what to do to secure him long time care or how we were going to pay for it. the staff from the very first day he was there was absolutely amazing. They took excellent care of my Father and they helped me every step of the way. Unfortunately my Dad passed away there, but the kindness, compassion and care that everyone there showed my family in the time my Dad was there were in my opinion unbeatable. Thank you to each staff member there, you are the best.

Our family member has since passed, but the management and staff were very professional at first. Trouble ensued after time progressed and they began to meddle in private family business. We were also very dissatisfied with the disrespectful way management and staff would speak to my father about our mother's care. These people did not wasn't to be bothered with us. Would not recommend this facility.

A place. A "person". That pretty much broke the spirit and heart of a patient brought there for rehab and short term care. If you have to deal with the business office, specifically the 'business manager', be prepared. One that has no couth, empathy, mannerisms to be in such a position. I sat with my friend, a current patient at the time, in her office while she made a few calls that I assumed were concerning my friend. After about 10 minutes of talking and laughing with the person on the other end...while we sat there as my friend, the patient at the time, hung his head just totally broken. Not necessarily because they took everything he had. But by Peg's very unprofessional, cold (ice cold), unsympathetic, unconscionable total rudeness. It infuriated me because I suspect this is the way she treats all the patients and or their families. I understand that 'this' is a business. And debts are to be paid. But for God's sake, as well as the patient and family's sake, be humane and not ruthless and threatening. There is a 'professional' way. An 'empathetic' way of handling the 'business' aspect at Mapleshire. And had I not seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. The LACK THERE OF. Unbelievable to me that this type of "badgering" and LACK THERE OF, of respect is allowed, business or not. I could not fathom being that cold and disrespectful to anybody. Especially to those in such a vulnerable position most have not even chosen for themselves. There you have it...a broken spirit, a broken heart, a broken human being...that passes away two days later...But, by golly you got your money Peg!!

MY WIFE STAYED THERE FOR REHAB ON HER KNEE REPLACEMENT.THE FACILITY IS VERY CLEAN AND ADEQUATELY STAFFED. FOOD WAS NOT THE BEST. THE REHAB LACKS SOMEWHAT IN THAT THEY CONTRACT WITH PHYSICAL THERAPISTS AND YOU DO NOT ALWAYS GET THE NECESSARY TREATMENT, DEPENDING ON WHICH THERAPIST YOU SEE THAT DAY. .WIFI DID NOT WORK IN OUTER ROOMS.

I had my mother at Mapleshire for therapy. Everyone was wonderful. I felt like the staff was very attentive to her. They helped her to a full recovery after her hip replacement. The building was very clean and the food was good.

I visited this facility

The other reviews are correct. The staff is inattentive. The call lights are on for long periods with no response. The staff walks the hallways without even looking in to check on patients. Some staff members chastise the patients for having accidents, though no one came to help them to the bathroom. The facility was clean, but that is about the best thing I can say.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My grandfather resides at the Mapleshire Nursing Home in Morgantown, WV. He was placed in this facility approximately 8 months ago due to our family not being able to care for him as his disease progresses. My grandfather has ALS and mobility has become an issue. I was very worried when he first went to live at the Mapleshire. After visiting for the first time, many of my fears were relieved. My grandfather's room is well maintained and very clean, however, with all of the available activities, he does not spend much time in his room! When I go to visit, he is rarely in his room, but is out and about in the facility participating in various activities. With his mobility issues, I was worried that he would be bed-fast and/or neglected (bedsores). I was also concerned about him suffering from loneliness and being isolated due to his mobility issues. At Mapleshire, my grandfather's lack of mobility has NOT deterred the staff from getting him to participate in activities. He is wheeled along in his chair and made to feel as part of the group. I visit quite frequently and have never been shocked or saddened by the care that he receives. While we know that there is no cure for ALS and things will get worse with time, we take heart in knowing that he is being well cared for during his final days and is LIVING at the Mapleshire, NOT simply waiting to die!

I visited this facility

Administrative staff are overall friendly, as are direct-care staff. However, patient care and attentiveness of the direct care staff isn't great. Resident verbal and call-light requests for help often take a decent time to have a response. Many vocal requests go unheard/ignored. All residents have call buttons, but may not be coherent to know where they are or often are out of reach. 1-1 time with residents and staff seems to be rare, if ever. After many visits to this nursing home, I still have never seen an RN, and have seen 1 doctor 1 time. Majority of staff on site are LPN, cafeteria staff, or the PT staff. The facility is overall clean and well-maintained. Meals are definitely not 5-star rated or even 4-star. Moreover, menus for clients may include disliked foods that residents refuse to eat. Snacks and other food/drink are available, but residents must ask. Thus, those who are not as cognitively aware or sleep a good bit may be hungry but not get food. Activities seem to be decent-reading, church groups, meetings, occasional animal, etc. Physical therapy, hospice, and other services are available on-site, so it is good that the nursing home allows for such contracted organizations to participate in patient care.

I visited this facility

I visited this facilty with my mother while researching facilities for my grandfather. I was not impressed with it at all. It was a bit too drab for me. It didn't seem like there were a lot of activities for the resident. It didn't have the demetia care program that we were looking for. I would not recommend this facility.
