Cascade Inn was a lot cheaper than the other place, but you get what you pay for. I looked at the apartments. The apartments were small. It was an old place and it smelled. They offered lunch if I wanted to stay, but I didn't stay. I just walked around enough and told them, 'We're wasting your time and mine, too,' so I just walked out the door. It was pretty clean though.

Provider Response

Thank you, Perry, for your honest review of Cascade Inn. We take all feedback very seriously and are deeply grateful you would take the time to let us know how we could improve. We provide the very highest level of care to each one of our residents and are disappointed that you had a less than ideal experience. Please don't hesitate to reach out if we can assist you in any way.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

The staff at Cascade Inn has been very kind to my sister, who can be challenging to deal with sometimes. She has made lots of friends here but does not partake in any of the activities, I have urged her to go on the outings but she won't do it. I hope she loosens up in the future and takes advantage of all the things Cascade has to offer the residents

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to let us know how much you appreciate our team members at Cascade Inn. We are so glad that we can provide the care and environment that our seniors deserve!

The Staff at Cascade is excellent, caring, kind-hearted and knowledgeable. My sister has resided there for 2 years, has made great progress and lasting friendships. She doesn't participate in many activities, but enjoys the entertainment and music that is provided, and the 3 meals a day where she can meet with her new friends.

Provider Response

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are so glad that your sister is a part of our community, and that she enjoys the entertainment and music that is provided, as well as the daily meals with friends. We are glad that you've had the opportunity to get to know our caring, kind-hearted, and knowledgeable team members. We think the world of them!

Our experience of touring Cascade Inn was good. The food was fair, the workers were also fair, and the staff who gave us the tour was very informed. We saw a 2-bedroom and a 1-bedroom, and I thought they were well-kept. Their dining area was nice. They didn't have so many activities to do, and their facilities were minimal, but when the weather is good, their outdoors was nice.

We liked Cascade Inn, because of its simple layout. They have a room that's next to the courtyard and it's easy to access. They supply a refrigerator and a microwave, but you need to buy the furniture like the bed, the cabinets, and the drawers. Their price was reasonable and they would try to work with you. The staff were very nice, friendly, and polite. All the residents were very friendly, too. They brought us to the dining room so that we could try the food and it was excellent food. There's a cafe there where you can get some snacks. So, all of them were just accommodating, especially Debbie, the director. She's very good to us.

Cascade Inn, for me, was a little too big. They had 188 rooms, and it almost appeared that they might be short staffed. The facility itself looked OK, but I would give it an average rating. It was a pretty complete facility. They had pretty much everything. They had a good social program, a library, and a lot of places for the residents to go and communicate or socialize. They had one really big dining room, and one average-sized dining room. They had a lot of activities and things. It was centrally located, and it was convenient to me. They did have a couple of areas that were outdoors. They said they do outdoor barbecues. There are places outside for people to socialize in good weather, not this time of the year, but it is available. Staff-wise, I only saw two people there; the one who gave me the tour and one that evaluated my wife.

Provider Response

John, Thank you for sharing your candid review of Cascade Inn Assisted Living Community. While our community was crafted to offer our ladies and gentlemen a refined, independent lifestyle, with all of the assistance they may need, we understand that it may not be a fit for everyone. I went to Cascade Inn. One thing I liked is that they're very helpful, they're willing to work with you and help you with the documentation of anything you need in regards to elder care. The leadership staff is very friendly and very accommodating in helping you navigate all the ins and outs of what needs to be done to get your mother, or your family member into a care center and all the hoops you have to follow and whatnot. I like that. The room was much smaller than the other place, and also they had a step on their shower, which to me and my wife was a trip hazard. Cascade was cheaper in some ways, but they were cheaper if you took the smaller room. If you got the same size room, they were not all that much more inexpensive. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. It was a little less modernized, it wasn't quite as bright. They've done some remodeling, but it's an older building, it doesn't have the nice, fresh look the other place had. They need to modernize their room and get rid of the trip hazard in the elderly rooms with a shower. That'd be a big win for them.

Provider Response

Mark, Thank you for sharing your honest review of Cascade Inn. We appreciate your kind compliments on our team members as we strive to help you and your loved one in any way we can. Regarding our showers' slight lip, we understand how that may be worrisome. Our community has different accommodations that are readily available for any resident such as care staff assistance during baths or utilizing a large shower in our spa that does not have a lip. Our goal at Cascade Inn is to provide all of our residents with the best care possible, and it's important for us to hear how our community could have met your expectations. Thank you for sharing your feedback, and if you have any further concerns, please feel welcome to reach out to us. -Chelsea Sterns, Executive Director

I visited a friend at Cascade Inn. It's small, quaint, and friendly. His room is adequate. There's nothing fancy. They don't have very many things, but he is 90, so he doesn't need them. They have gardens, tours, and shopping excursions.

My brother is at Cascade Inn. It's an older facility, but it's really clean. They had some nice updates; it seems like one of the better facilities that we looked at. It's a nice facility. They have some movie theater there, a theater room, and several kinds of games or recreational rooms, community gardens, and a large patio area, kind of outdoor dining like in the summer months. I didn't eat there, but looking at their menus, the food looks pretty good.

We chose the Cascade Inn for my sister. It's a wonderful place, it's clean, the people are great, everything about it is a good fit for her, it's a great place. She moved in there last week. The staff is wonderful, friendly, helpful, and we couldn't ask for nicer, more professional people to work with. Her apartment is clean, the carpets are painted, a nice bathroom, and a kitchenette area. it's a studio apartment, but it's fairly roomy, and it fits her just fine. The location is really handy for me, it's off of 205, really close, and easy to get to, so for me it's great.

Cascade Inn seemed nice, but the room that was the most affordable for my mother would've been literally a block away from the dining area, and the bathroom was difficult to get in and out of in that particular room. The thing I was put off the most was their pricing because you don't know the pricing until they get an evaluation of the client. They're looking at the level of care that's going to be needed, and they had a point system. The staff was very nice. It's a big facility, and we walked through one common area where there were some people playing a game.

I liked Cascade Inn. The apartments were nice. The big advantage was they also had assisted living. They're licensed for both independent and assisted and that's a plus, so you get to stay there. The guy I talked to was very nice and took me all over. It looked great. The dining area was nice.

I visited Cascade Inn, and it was really nice. Outside, they had really nice walking areas, a raised garden, and the people that lived there said the food was really good and they liked the staff. I saw a studio, a smaller one, with a twin bed, and room for a smaller couch, a couple of end tables, and a kitchenette with a microwave, refrigerator, and freezer. The bathrooms were big for people to have plenty of room when they take a shower, they have shower seats, and the towels were easily accessible. It was all carpeted.

Provider Response

Jeanny, thank you for touring Cascade Inn Independent & Assisted Living Community. We hope the tour provided enough information about the rooms, but also 24-hour licensed nurses, engaging activities from our Active Living Director and the now complete remodel. Cascade Inn seemed dark and cold, and not friendly, warm, or inviting. It looked cheap and there wasn't anything pretty to look out at. You had to enter through a weird setup for the parking lot and main entrance. Things seemed to be far from one another and felt like a football field away, so it was not convenient. I didn't want to live there. The room we saw was very tiny and cold with no view or patio. It was just a place to sit all day in-between meals. We passed through a room that was more like a cafeteria than a nice dining room. It seemed cheaply put together and inexpensive as could be with the tables. I was just so unimpressed. They wanted to charge $3,900 a room for something that wasn't a luxury place. It was a very depressing place.

Provider Response

Jo Ann, thank you for touring Cascade Inn Independent & Assisted Living Community and I am sorry the rooms were not to your expectations. As you know we have recently completed a major remodel and the entry way and many rooms have been updated. We hope you have since found the perfect place, but if not come and see the new Cascade Inn!

Cascade Inn is so clean. That's what I first spotted, along with the kindness of people. I've been here for quite a while now and I have not met one employee that I don't love. They are so good and they have a lot to handle, and they know how to do that. I think it's really reasonable. I have three meals, I have my room cleaned up every Monday, they have a bus and they take us to Dollar Tree, to Fred Meyer's, to Walmart, and take us to different entertainment on Tuesdays. On Thursdays they take us to doctors' appointments. They'll have a lot of entertainment, too.

Provider Response

Edith, thank you for choosing Cascade Inn Independent & Assisted Living Community. We are so blessed that you made the decision to live here and humbled. I will pass along your kindness compliments to all of our teams. The trips and entertainment options are some of our favorite things too. My father was in Cascade Inn for a while in his later years. It's a good place to be, but it was pricey in terms of what I thought they provided. The dining area was functional, but not particularly attractive. It had tables, chairs, and tablecloths, but nothing fancy. I saw one room that was set up as a model, nicely decorated as far as the furniture goes, and it looked very nice. I only saw the person that showed us around and he was making a pitch.

I now live at Cascade Inn and would highly recommend it. It is a beautiful, well-furnished place with a nice dining room and good food and staff. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I have an apartment with a nice-sized living room and a bedroom. My living room has air conditioning, electric fireplace, walk-in closet, and handicapped-accessible bathroom. The grounds are very nicely landscaped. It is within walking distance to a lot of shopping and not far from a major shopping complex and movie theater, so that you can either walk or go on a power chair up there. I have been playing bridge and pinochle, and we have scheduled outings to lunch or day trips to various stores for shopping.

Cascade Inn wasn’t as clean as the other facility I visited. The floor needed to be vacuumed. They had a list of activities. It was bigger and more hospital-like.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and review Cascade Inn. We are sorry to hear that the floor needed vacuuming. Our housekeeping team ensures the entryways, hallways and the resident’s rooms are always clean and well taken care of. I will work with our housekeeping team to see what more can be done in higher traffic areas. We chose Cascade Inn because they just seemed very caring and offered more help than the others. They were also helping us file for a VA benefit, if my husband was eligible for it. It was independent, but we had the option of going to assisted, if my husband's health got worst. I chose Cascade because once you were a part of that community and ended up graduating to the assisted living, you did not have to change apartments. You could stay where you were, which was pretty huge. We were actually very excited about moving there.

We chose the Cascade Inn. They have an excellent sales representative who does the tour and fills you in on all of the things they have to offer, as well as compares everything they have to offer with other facilities. Other facilities are newer and flashier, but they cost a whole lot more and don't take Medicaid. If you go in as independent living, most of the places require you to change rooms when you transition to assistance. This place does not require that you change rooms unless you want to; you can go there and die in the same room. Other places look like five-star hotels; this place is much more like home. It's not classy nor fancy and doesn't have super high ceilings. They have wonderful menus with lots of choices. We didn't eat there, but the menu was better than other places. The staff seemed very personable. It offered everything that we were looking for in one place. It's an older facility, so the rooms are smaller than some of the other more expensive ones, but my mother's not going to care. This place offers a few exercise classes, they don't have a pool, and their theater is a lot smaller, but they do offer everything my mother is going to need.

My experience with Cascade Inn in the beginning was very good. As of right now, we do have some issues, but they're working them out. The rooms and apartments are nice. They're open, spacious, and very clean. We like the rooms very much. The food is really good too. They're very professional, very good, and very intuitive. They have group activities, they get to go on field trips, they go to the doctor, and they have group gatherings in all other places like piano forums and things like that. What they could improve on though is communication with the family members. Nevertheless, what impressed me most is how speedy and well they got us into the facility. They helped my parents got in.

Cascade Inn was well run, and the people were so friendly. We saw three different rooms with different sizes -- two studios and a one-bedroom. They were all very well equipped, and they showed what the possibilities were for furniture. They were really nice and clean. One set had a large bathroom where wheelchairs could go in to the shower. They had tons of choices for any kind of meal plan plus specials for the day, and they had diabetic menus. They had a movie theater inside which was well equipped. They had games, and there was bean bag baseball going on when we were there.

I like it particularly because of where it was located, it was a walking distance to shopping areas, and they also had an extra large studio. They were the only ones that had an extra large studio apartment. They have exercise, game rooms, and party rooms. I would recommend the place.

We chose Cascade Inn because they take Medicaid. Also, the residents don't have to move when they graduate them from independent living to assisted living. They do have activities and I have seen the monthly calendars. She has gone to a couple of things. However, I have several issues with the staff. It's their training and their procedure. Regarding cleanliness, it is very good. However, I think their rooms are not made for those with mobility issues, i.e., getting walkers through doorways and the width of the hall in the room is too small. Apparently, her aluminum walker was also unable to get through the doorway, so it puts her at risk for a fall. I have been there for meals as well. They have a four-week rotation menu. Unfortunately, they use a lot of pre-processed frozen items, so they have a lot of salt and sodium issues. They did make a change after she moved in, to include "items" that the residents can always order if they don't want what the main offering is. However, they're not very good at estimating how many of the residents are going to want "X" and how many are going to want "Y," or how many are going to come to the meals because they frequently run out of something. The Cascade Inn is more interested in looking at their process and procedures than the needs the residents they have. The quantities of food for example, have been drastically reduced. They have had no special training in dementia, which impacts a lot of residents.

Provider Response

Thank you for your recent review of Cascade Inn. Our resident and family input is highly regarded and very important to all of us at Koelsch Senior Living communities. We are delighted to hear that your relative at Cascade Inn is enjoying the lifestyle and activities in our community. The safety of our residents is of the utmost concern at Cascade Inn and although our doorways and community entry points are well within safety and industry standards, we are considering future renovations to facilitate ease of mobility for residents who are using mobility devices. Because memory care is such an important aspect of Cascade Inn and Koelsch Senior Communities, all of our caregivers are qualified in specialty Dementia training within 90 days of employment and are required to have 12 hours of continuing education every year.

We understand that mealtime is an important part of the day for all of our residents at Cascade Inn. That is why we offer a full menu at each meal with eight delicious entrées to choose from. With all the selections we offer, we are improving daily on quantities available as we learn the specific food preferences of our resident ‘family members’. Just like ‘home’, the majority of our meals are made from ‘scratch’ while others are healthy selections from selective outside sources. We always welcome healthy suggestions and opportunities to make mealtime an enjoyable experience for everyone. Cascade Inn is passionate about serving our residents and family members with excellence in services and care and are honored with the opportunity to serve them.
