What I like most about Fairwood Retirement Village is the skill of the caregivers and their personal attention to the patients. We have lots of activities here and my wife had her own private room with her own bathroom and she has a caregiver who goes to her every day to help her out. Basically, they are doing a good job.

I like Fairwood Retirement Village & Assisted Living, although it is an older facility. When people move out, they would remodel the room, and I looked at a couple of them. I liked the way the ground floor apartments were set up. A lot of them have little outdoor patios and those types of things where you can let your dog right off the patio and right out into the center grass area. I like that way better than the idea of a dog park. However, you got to buy in for the one bedroom, and I did not want to go for that at all. You get 75% of it back if you leave, but if you do not leave or if you die there, you do not get anything. You gotta put $106,000 right upfront. If you want to get a bigger place, you have to put up even more cash money. The facility is fine, just not particularly the way they do business. The lady was very nice too. They have an activities board posted outside of their office where it says they do cards and all that sort of things.

My tour at Fairwood Village was wonderful. I like it. The rooms were very nice and very clean. They have everything you could imagine. The grounds were a little bigger too. The thing I didn't like about this community is that the assisted living is quite away from the independent living.

I really don't feel that they care about the residents. Their goal is to take your money!!!! You pay taxes on "leased" property, you are asked to provide bonuses for staff at X-mas, and you are paying for meals for the staff and sometimes their families. Maintenace is slow and when you sell back your apartment, they can take however long they want to remodel and put it back on the market. They play favorites and keep a list of names of people who complain. I don't recomend this place at all.

Fairwood Village is the nearest to our place. I am familiar with it because I have another family member in there. It is a more casual place and very comfortable.

We had a pretty short tour at Fairwood Village. We hadn't scheduled one with them, but when we called, they told us to come in. We kind of felt like they were not ready and that we should have waited. It was really nice. They had a lot of apartments. I think they had four separate buildings. It was big, clean, and nice.

Fairwood Assisted Living has a beautiful country club atmosphere. As I walked through the facility I felt a friendly, family atmosphere. The caregivers, nurses and administrative staff greeted me with open arms. The facility has recently add more rooms including large studios and one bedrooms with beautiful views of tree lined hills or the courtyard putting greens. A wide variety of activities are offered everyday to residents. Organized field trips to places like Green Bluff, Manito Park or viewing christmas lights are scheduled monthly according to season. There is a secure memory care unit within the assisted living building. Rooms are spacious with a large private bathroom. I consider Fairwood Assisted Living as one of my top picks in Spokane for my parents.

My visit at Fairwood Village was helpful and informative. I was treated well. The rooms were obviously smaller than the place we're living right now, but they were an adequate size and well arranged.

My Mom lived at Fairwood for 13 years and was well cared for except for two issues. The facilities and people were generally great. When she she had to vacate her apartment in March 2013 we discovered the 15 page Residents Agreement contract she signed allows Fairwood to retain her $117,000 deposit until they find a buyer for her apartment. As of Oct, 2013 it has been over six months. The CEO told me that they will retain her deposit until her apartment has been rented - indefinitely, and that it's not unusual to have to wait quite a lot longer. The fact that they did not complete restoration of her apartment until mid-August certainly didn't help. For Fairwood to continue to use her money to conduct their operations or invest, is 'wrong' and unethical. The CEO told me that is their 'business model'! So take this business model into consideration when you consider living at Fairwood. Secondly, in 2007 a thick layer of ice accumulated on roofs of the 3-story housing units. The ice slowly slid off the roofs in large chunks and would unpredictably come crashing down, potentially injuring, or more likely killing, anyone entering or leaving. I was nearly killed while emptying garbage, and watched a visiting nurses car get damaged a few days later. When I brought my personal experience and concern for others to their attention I was unable to get ANY response at all.
