When people ask me what I like about living at UH, I immediately talk about the vibrant community that involves both residents and staff. University House provides a friendly, safe environment that includes extensive programming on all levels. I have lived here for 3 yeas and am continually impressed with the commitment by residents and staff to provide these amenities that so definitely enrich our lives.

I wanted to get a sense of the feeling of living in University House. My tour with Mike was very friendly and complete. It covered various choices of living quarters, dining plans, optional elective activities, health support, the building and grounds. I even met some of the residents. Needless to say, I was most impressed.

Apartments are very well laid out, lots of light and storage. Common areas very well maintained. Food excellent with a good range of choices. Staff excellent, helpful and supportive. Many activities over a range of interests. Because of a strong connection with the University of Washington, many residents are intellectually active. Large library. Neighborhood is a mix of residential and small business, very walkable, good access to public transit.

Great choice for independent living. Good community size for finding a small group of like-minded individuals without being overwhelmed with too large a community or hampered with too small a community. A great retirement community to get involved in rather than just being a retirement facility to end your days in - it all depends on how you look at. Variety of activities for different interests. Good public transportation to get around and about on your own. Walkable neighborhood.

It’s a beautiful facility, very well maintained. The apartments are spacious. When my mother was there I went to many if the concerts and entertainments and enjoyed them all. The staff are very friendly and know residents by name. The meals are excellent with many choices at dinner. I particularly like joining my friends there at the weekly Knit & Stitch group.

I've been at The University House in Seattle University, Wallingford because that's where my mom lives now. They come in and handle her meds. They help her get dressed, and they bring her food. You live in your own apartment. For an additional cost, they will do things like bring you your food, manage your meds, help you get dressed, and help you shower. The apartments are awesome. They're well laid out. You have a choice between a 2-bedroom, 1-bedroom, or a studio. There are some with nice views of downtown Seattle. Then there are others looking across the street to a high school. There are some that don't really have a view. It's in the middle of the Wallingford district, which is about 2 miles from the University of Washington. It's a very active community, a middle of the city kind of place. The staff was very professional, very kind, and trustworthy. My parents didn't partake in any activities because of their situations, but they have plenty of activities there too.

University House Wallingford was very upscale. They offer very classy activities like people from Seattle Symphony and the university itself would come in, including upscale speakers, musicians, and art projects. It seems they have a very educated audience. The rooms they have were nicely arranged, theyre the right size, and they get a good amount of light.

University House is at the upper end of retirement homes, they only offer 27 meals a month, and the rest of it is on your own. There is a small garden. The staff was peasant and upscale. They have various lectures going on and musical things. The food was standard.

University House is a very nice facility. It has an impressive range of activities for seniors. It seemed to excel at getting seniors interested in community and civic activities. They had a lot of lectures and classes, so it seemed like an especially good place for seniors who want to continue learning. They have quite a long waiting list by more than a year, but they have a preference for retired faculty members. The one-bedroom apartment was a bit smaller but still a very nice-sized apartment. They have a pretty large fitness room/small gym. There were group meetings on specific topics.

Twelve years ago, while still very active, my parents chose to sell their home and move into the University House at Wallingford. At that time my Mom wasn't sure she wanted to make the switch. But within no time, she was sure they had made the right decision. They loved and took advantage of many of the activities. They became involved in a number of committees, which introduced them to other residents who became close and long term friends. They loved the choice of their dining program. And the staff, especially the dining room staff. grew to be like part of the family. Calls to them usually involved them keeping us up to date with the lives of all their new "grandchildren". One concern they had when they moved in was that they would no longer be able to host the family holiday dinners. University House solved that family problem quickly by always being ready to cater dinners, buffets, events right at the facility. Not always easy as they have ranged in sixe from 15-150 people. But they have always provided beautiful meals and friendly, helpful service. The apartments are very comfortable and well kept, as are the main areas of the building. When I come from out of state and stay in the apartment I always feel welcome and at home. It also gives us comfort to know that this facility is one of the "emergency/disaster" centers in the Seattle area. It is good to know that even for an unplanned event, they are the safest spot. Last year we lost our mother. During the last of her life the University House offered us options for multiple levels of care when she needed it. In her last days of hospice she was visited by some of her "kids" that had either graduated from school and left University House employment or still worked there. They had truly become family. She loved them. My father still lives at University House. He works out in the gym facilities 2-3 times a week. Helps on committees, and has enjoyed the comfort of friends as he has transitioned to being single again. He continues to think moving to the UH was one of the best decisions he ever made. Unfortunately I do not live in Seattle, but I hope that when it is finally to "retire" that I can find a place as enjoyable as the University House at Wallingford.

We found University House Wallingford during our web search. The staff were extremely polite and lovely. The meal we had there was outstanding. The only reason my mother did not want to stay there was because of its location to us. The general facility itself is just lovely, beautiful. It's the place I want to live. Its only downfall is its location because it's next to the highway.

University House was in a great location because you could walk to a lot of things. They had weekly linen service and housekeeping. The dining room was beautiful and had different choices for food. The residents could choose from maybe five courses and everything came with a soup or salad, bread, dessert and drinks. The staff seemed happy. It was a quite expensive facility but it was a good fit to my parents.
