My mother is at Life Care Center. The thing that I like most about this facility is that it is convenient for us to get to. Some of the staff members are good, but some are probably not too good. The facility seemed to be clean. I'm a little bit over halfway satisfied with this facility.

The staff were caring and positive, sincerely concerned with the well-being of their clients and residents both while staying at the Life Care Center and their future health and well-being. The facility itself is fairly new, clean, and well-maintained. Although I did not eat there, the food looked and smelled good. There is a cafeteria for residents who are ambulatory. Meals are served in resident's rooms for those who cannot or do not want to eat in the cafeteria. My mother was treated with friendly courtesy and respect. The staff creates a variety of events for long-term residents, I saw a musical performance put on by several of the residents during my visit there. Event staff create events open to residents' family members, and send out reminder notices to families of events, encouraging them to participate. The facility is secure, with visitor sign-in/sign-out, very flexible visiting hours, and staff closely monitors the location and condition of residents.

My very elderly mother spent a month in this facility after a fall at home and a subsequent diagnosis of dementia. During my mother's stay I had extensive telephone contact with the staff at the Life Care Center of Port Townsend. Toward the end my mother's stay at the Life Care Center, I saw the facility in person several times while visiting my mother, and met several staff members in person about my mother's care needs. I found the staff to be friendly, helpful, professional, and conscientious. I felt that the staff showed genuine concern and care for patients/residents, and they provided me with a great deal of useful advice regarding my mother's needs. While visiting my mother at the Life Care Center, I saw that they had social activities for long-term residents, and that many of the long-term residents had extensively personalized their rooms. During one of my visits I saw an afternoon musical concert performed by the residents. There are other social events for residents, and the facility sends out postcards and a newsletter to families of residents inviting them to these events. The facility seemed exceptionally clean and well-kept.

When driving up to Kai Tai Care Center, I was pleased with how well taken care of the grounds were. Having to find my mother an assisted living facility, this was comforting because it reflects the care that the center provides to not only its facility, but possibly to the residents as well. When going through the doors, I was instantly greeted by my tour guide, who is also the Assistant Manager of the facility. She showed me the rooms, the dining area, and even the recreation area. With many options of entertainment for the residents, I was definitely put at ease that my mother will be well taken care of in this facility. I was able to actually see how dinner is served, and the residents seemed to be enjoying the evening. The rooms and halls seemed to be in great condition, and the staff was very helpful and eager to answer all of my questions. The grounds are beautiful for walks, or even just sitting outside to enjoy the sunshine. I am definitely relieved that I found a place to provide the ultimate care for my mother and would highly recommend Kai Tai Care Center to others.
