HomePlace Oak Harbor Memory Care is a very nice facility. It would have been perfect for my mother-in-law, but it was just a little too far. But the facility was nice. All of the individuals that we met either leading us around or visiting with us were very appropriate. They were very good. They answered all our questions. We had a good experience visiting them. Even though we weren't able to talk with the residents, they were all doing activities, so it was good to see that. Some of them were in different rooms playing cards. The dining area is typical, but not like the setting of a nursing home, you did not get the feel of that. It was a nice dining room and appropriately spacious.

I toured HomePlace Special Care at Oak Harbor for my husband and I thought it was a very quick tour. It was very different from the other one we saw. It was clean and well maintained, but the rooms seemed older. I don't know if that's a good word to explain it. They had a courtyard and it seemed clean and well maintained. The staff seemed fine, just not quite as thorough as the other tour I took. They didn't seem to take as much time.
