Brookdale Monroe has been great. Everyone is wonderful, pleasant, friendly, and outgoing. They do a really good job of having a feeling of community. My dad has a studio with new floors and new paint. It meets his needs. The place is nicely maintained. They do a good job with that. The food is also very good. Their dining room is very elegant and very inviting. They have all kinds of activities such as card games, puzzles, and different crafts. They have a list of what is available for each day and it's more than adequate.

Brookdale Monroe was excellent. I like how the director answered all my questions and how I got to meet the residents as well. I saw my mom interacting with all the residents and how they interacted with her. They were very professional. I felt very good about the security of the building, so my mom couldn't get out if her dementia got worse. I looked at their menu. I saw people eating it, and they said the food was always consistently good. It's the best I've seen of all the other facilities. It's top-notch.

I toured Brookdale Monroe. It was good. I got to ask questions. They are more like a wing. They had a nice internal garden area. They have assisted living, it's kind of a courtyard and then the memory unit is on the other side of the courtyard which is a secure unit. It was pretty good. The people there seemed to be happy. I got to see the menu. The cost was a little bit higher than a couple of others but they're well done in terms of the decor. The environment is very positive and seems to be a pretty high-quality place. The staff was good. They had all the options, you can have private or shared rooms. The assisted living people are given as much freedom to participate in the community as they want. There's some group of ladies there who do flowers. The residents grow flowers and cultivate flowers in the courtyard. They encourage the people there to contribute as much as the community wants. They are doing different things, which is kind of nice. They chose a room where the ladies were in there making flower arrangements. The price is a little higher, but it seems it comes with the quality of places.

I toured Brookdale Monroe. The tour was very informative. They had a very professional staff. The facility was very nice and very amenable to the particular set of circumstances regarding the living arrangements there. The rooms were very clean, very orderly, and very quiet. It's a modern and up-to-date facility.

My mom stayed at Brookdale Monroe for over three years. I love the people who work there, but the whole thing is run by a corporation. The prices are too high, and they don't get what they're paying for. They raised the rent by 15% last January without notice. The staff members were wonderful, but they were underpaid and overworked. Brookdale Corporation is at fault. The Brookdale facility is trying to run as best it can. The director that was there is now gone because she couldn't handle having to answer to residents why their rent went up 15% and they're not getting the things that they're supposed to get. The food was crappy. The toilets don't work. There are leaks coming all over the place. They've had to replace so many things because the building is old and falling apart. The people did not get their rooms cleaned. They did not get food or do any activities.

We toured Brookdale Monroe for my dad. The facility was clean, bright, and well cared for, and all of the residents in the memory care were clean and dressed nicely. Activities were going on. They had their own gardening area for those that like to plant flowers. It was just a good experience. The woman that assisted us was wonderful. She was so knowledgeable and explained everything so well to us. The dining area was wonderful. For people that are in assisted living, their dining areas are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., so anyone can come in and sit down and look at the menu or choose what has been prepared for the day. It was a nice dining room. The staff were friendly, too.

Brookdale Monroe is probably at the top of our list. That's the one we would probably recommend at the highest level. The staff was very caring. We saw residents sitting around in a kind of little common area. They seemed to be chatting and enjoying their time together. And there's kind of a courtyard outside where it's kind of a rainy day, but it's still kind of nice outside. There weren't a lot of people out there. Most of them were sitting inside, and the staff seemed to be caring and accommodating. Brookdale looks like a nice spot. The rooms have their own bathrooms, and not shared. They have a variety of rooms, it depends on what's available. I think they have up to two-bedroom situations. They have a little activity, like a little area with exercise equipment and things like that. They got common areas and a nice little common area with a fireplace and all that.

Pricing goes up every year. Anything extra they do is an extra charge. If a resident doesn't want to go down to the dining room, they will charge to have food taken to room. It's not kept very clean. Her smoke alarm has been hanging from her bedroom ceiling by the wires for weeks. You can eat with them in dining room for a cost of 18.00. the longer my mom is there the less happy we are. But she loves it

My first choice would be the Brookdale Monroe because they had cottages. I like the idea of a cottage separate from everybody for independent living. They also had assisted living. They have outdoor spaces. Their library was separate from everything else like the living room or gathering room, and the library was a fairly good size. They also had a billiard area, which most other places had. The person who gave the tour gave good information. It was not something she normally did because we just walked in without an appointment, the gal who normally does the tour was busy with somebody else. She was not that knowledgeable, but it was not her job.

I toured Brookdale Monroe for my dad, and it was very clean and seemed to be a happy place. The staff was excellent. The bathrooms in the rooms were large and spacious. The rooms were carpeted, but I think they should be hardwoods. They were clean and well taken care of. But my biggest thing was the big bathroom; that was nice. I have not tried their food, but I saw it and it looked good. The dining area looked great. It was very clean and well thought out. I liked that they put live displays of each meal out. When I went in there, there were lots of folks out doing group activities. They have patios, gardens, and very well-maintained grounds.

I checked the assisted living at Brookdale Monroe. I liked the layout of it, and I think it's very typical in assisted living places, one wing smelled a little. I want to say less clean or less new than the other wing but maybe it just needed to be upgraded a little bit or something.

I toured Brookdale Monroe. First off, they were super nice. The lady was very, very helpful. Right away I realized I almost didn't know all the questions to ask even though I had a notebook with about 10 questions written down. It was an older design. It was a single-story unit located in a neighborhood that's a regular neighborhood. If you're just walking you probably would think it is just a couple of houses together. They didn't have memory care and I was looking for independent care. They had a nice little walking area on the property. The room design, the 1-bedroom was kind, I'll just call it funky, but I thought "this isn't a real 1-bedroom." It's kind of a studio with a wall and it just a funny design. Now, having said that, after seeing many more, I realized that even though it's an apartment, they're not at all the standard 1-bedroom design that I would think if I was renting it for a family. So, the design wasn't my favorite. They were nice and willing to work with us. They had a little garden patio area which was nice, too.

Brookdale Monroe is close to our home and it's going pretty well for my mother-in-law. She has dementia so she's in the memory care unit, and they help her with bathing, using the bathroom, dressing, and everything else. The staff is nice and attentive. The place is clean and perfect for seniors. It's kind of bland and boring, but that's what they like.

Brookdale Monroe had a large outdoor area inside the facility, which was secure, and it was pretty nice. The room I checked out was nice and clean, and the staff was friendly. The facilities were laid out very nice, so the people can get around easily.

We toured Brookdale Monroe. They had samples of the food set out, but they didn't look very appetizing at all. The place had an institutional feel, instead of a homey feel. The person who gave us the tour talked fast and nonstop, so we could barely get a word in edgewise. She talked the whole time. It didn't look like an active enough place for my mother.

We liked Brookdale Monroe, but it was more than we can afford. They were very nice people who seemed like they had a nice place in there. They gave us a tour and were very nice and personable. The room was empty, but it was clean and had necessities, like a refrigerator. They walked us through the dining area, which looked nice and clean, and the people there said the food was very good.

We checked out Brookdale Monroe. The place is very nice, but they are so expensive. We thought that they were not as willing to help the individual. Some of the staff are exceptional, but they do not return phone calls when they tell you they would.

Brookdale Monroe is very nice. They have sing-alongs, scenic drives, movie nights, ice cream socials, and bingo. They have two dining rooms, and the residents can choose where they want to go to. They have a pretty nice apartment. They just put a new carpet in and painted the walls. It looks pretty new. It has a little fridge, a sink, a counter, and a little place to eat.

Emeritus at Monroe was too expensive for our taste. They charged a lot of money for an upstairs apartment that was very small and there was nothing in it except a small refrigerator, a small stove, a living room and a kitchen together. It was not worth it. We can live in a trailer or an apartment cheaper than that. They were really expensive for the apartment that they wanted sold to us, which was in the building itself and not an individual apartment. They do have some, but they were all filled up that for what they sold us, which was upstairs, we would have to take the elevator up and down, and my husband has a wheelchair so it wouldn't be suitable for us. We did not really look at all of it. We were not interested because they were too expensive. They were courteous, but that was about it. I think it is outrageous to charge senior citizens that much in the first place.
