Food is marginal. Staff is lovely. The bus scheduling needs improvement. Using FAx to schedule bus needs is inefficient and hard to verify. This process needs updated to an electronic one.

I toured Delaware Plaza. I was a little bit surprised at how big the rooms were. The one thing that came to mind when we visited is that most of our medical treatment is done in the Kaiser facility across the street from there. So out of the ones we have visited, that's the one we would consider. And it wasn't terribly expensive, too. The staff who gave the tour was very nice. The dining area was very nice. The people were very conscientious about showing us the place. The facility was very clean and very well-kept. I would rate it very highly. It was very favorable. We had lunch there, but the food was not as hot as my wife likes it.

I toured Delaware Plaza. The food, all of that is fine. It's like whatever the chef makes. The community layout, it's kind of like a prison I suppose. It's just a building with a bunch of rooms in it. The staff was super friendly.

I toured Delaware Plaza. The staff was nice. The atmosphere seemed nice, but it was kind of old-fashioned. The dining area was nice. It was community dining and it was like walking into a restaurant. The overall condition of the community was good.

Delaware Plaza was really nice. However, the hallways are a little dark for my mother. For other people, it might not be, but for my mother, I thought the hallways were a little dark. She's low sighted anyway and needs bright light to get around and to move around. The rooms were nice. I think there's a very small refrigerator and a microwave. The tour experience was very good. The manager was excellent. They had really nice people there. The seniors were really wonderful. They had outdoor spaces, too.

We went to Delaware Plaza. They provide whatever level of care you need, so you wouldn't have to leave that building and go elsewhere. It was an older facility, but very well-kept. I just personally didn't care for the place. The staff only showed us a one-bedroom apartment. It's really like an apartment complex, only it has a full cafeteria, and off the cafeteria was another place to eat. They had lots of eating rooms. We didn't see anybody eating because it wasn't dinner time. The staff didn't rush us through, but we kind of went through it quickly. We didn't have questions to ask. We knew that it was not something that we were looking for. They had a wonderful music room with a piano in it, and one of the residents was playing. They had another room where people were playing cards, and they did bingo and all kinds of different things in that room. They had a room that had a shuffleboard in it. They had lots of activities. It was a place that served all the meals and it was a higher level of care than what we needed. It was very clean. The carpeting was not outdated or anything.

We went to Delaware Plaza. The building itself was nice there. The halls were long, but everything looked in its place and they were well taken care of. They weren't doing any activities when I was there, so I didn't see anything, but they gave me a calendar. They had a lovely garden or plaza. They did some games out there and chairs to sit on. It was very pretty like a park. It was nice, and the landscaping was very pretty. They had an elevator, so that was good. They have three floors. We did go up to the third floor and the room they showed me was probably adequate. They have one- and two-bedroom places there. It was very nice and very welcoming. The staff who gave me a tour was very nice, very pleasant, helpful, and caring. She walked me back to my car.

My father has been at Delaware Plaza for a year now. He's in their assisted living. It's very clean, they do a lot of activities, my dad loves the food there, and the staff has been wonderful. Because of COVID, they've had several lockdowns so we can't see him, and then I also don't live close and is 5 hours away. They have this thing called Familio, which they've set up, and I think it costs us $8 a month. It allows family members to post photos and messages every week, and then they print it up like a little gazette that he gets to have. The app looks like it's for a lot of assisted living places. It allows me and my children, who don't live where he's at, to still stay in touch with him. They also do ice cream socials every week. This is pre-COVID because COVID shut down a lot of stuff. They used to cook a certain food each week, and they'd have staff members cook and talk about some regional food, and then everybody would try it. They have movie nights, they take the residents around town in their little bus to look at the Christmas lights, and things like that. The facility is large, so there are lots of people there. It's clean and they seem to keep it up. My dad had a problem with a refrigerator in his room and they fixed it immediately. He keeps messing up this TV and they have somebody come and fix it too.

We toured the Delaware Plaza. I was very happy with the staff, and I felt the rooms were clean and attractive. It just seemed smaller than what we could get at the other place. They're beautifully appointed, the furnishings and design effort. It was very nicely done and in good taste. They had a common room, a game room type area, and a library. The dining room was accessible from a couple different ends for the residents.

Delaware Plaza is a good and an updated facility. My mom needs to have a place that had 24/7 nursing, and they have everything my mom will need. The staff were all very helpful in giving us the tour. The facilities were also nice. The spot where my mom is going to stay overlooks a park, and they got an area in the middle where they could go out and do some raised bed gardening or do whatever they want.

My mom lives in Delaware Plaza and we like it. They treat her very kindly and take good care of her. She is not totally independent. She is blind and they have to do a few things for her. I personally didn't choose it. I was in the Baltics when my daughter actually got her set up there. It was what was available at the time, but we like it. The staff is great and they take very good care of her. For my mom, her room is big enough. When she gets more feeble, it's going to be hard to get in and out of the bathroom. It looks like an old hotel room. I haven't eaten their food, but the dining rooms are very nice. Sometimes, I think they need a little more staff members or help in that area, but I think overall they do a good job. The facilities are dated. I have no idea about the activities because my mom doesn't participate in any of that. She just stays in her room. The value for the money is good.

Delaware Plaza didn't work out for what we needed. I wouldn't take my father back there. The nurses were great, while the staff was fair. His room had the basics, but the bathroom was way too small for him. He is in a walker, and it was hard for him to get in and out of the bathroom. He didn't like the food at all. It was brought to his room, and most of the time it was cold. It would be great for other people, but it was not the best setup for my father. He was only there for 10 days. They had a lot of food there, but it's not setup for elderly people. They had spinach lasagna and that didn't fly with him. The price was too much for what he needed. He didn't have care. All they did was bring him his medicines and his food.

I stayed in Delaware Plaza. The staff members were top of the line. I had nurses, nurses aides, and program directors. Everything was immaculately clean all the time. The top maintenance crews took care of any problem we had. The food was definitely good. They had all you wanted to eat and the also had daily specials. They provided three meals a day and in-room service for those who couldn't go to the dining room. They offered all kinds of activities too. We had music, stage plays, billiards, shuffleboard, and card games. They have elevators, stairs, a parking lot, and a locked gate. I had a 1-bedroom unit where I had my own bathroom, shower, bed, outside window, and smoke alarm. They also have some 2-bedroom units and some units for couples. They were all very nice.

Delaware Plaza was large. I liked it, but it was too large. The staff was fine. The dining area was nice, and the rooms were OK. They had different sizes of rooms, and we looked at the smallest. They’re considerably more expensive, and there were certain things I did not like about their pricing.

Paula, thank you for spending a few moments writing a review for Delaware Plaza, the first purpose-built Assisted Living community in the United States. We are so glad you were able to tour, because we know how hard it can be choosing a place for a loved one. Although our community is large, it allows us to offer a wide variety of apartments. We hope that while you were touring, you had an opportunity to meet several of our staff members. We take great pride in our team and the exceptional care that they provide for our residents. Both pricing and providing great customer service are important to us. Please know that we will continue to stay competitive, as well as providing great amenities to our residents and their family members. We wish you the best of luck finding a great community for your dad. Our door is always open for any future questions or concerns.

A loved one went into Delaware Plaza for six weeks. The main thing she was unhappy with was the food. The staff was very friendly and very helpful, but they would offer two choices for the main meal in the evening, and a number of times they ran out of one of those two choices. When she moved in there, she wanted a separate bedroom. At the time she moved in, they did not have a one-bedroom available, so she went into a suite so that she would have a private bedroom, but the rent was too high. The room was big, very nice, and very bright, but the air-conditioner did not work properly, and during summer it would get hot in there. She had a kitchen area, but there was no stove or oven which she would've liked. She never participated in any activity.

They have several different types of rooms at Delaware Plaza. The single rooms have a bathroom but no cooking facilities. They have two stories of larger rooms. I have seen the food, and it’s pretty good. They have a game room and a workout room. They have games and get-togethers. The cleanliness needs to be improved a little bit.
