I visited this facility

I like the Commonwealth Senior Living at King's Grant House better than the other facility. It seemed to have more options. The rooms were a little bit small, but they were nice. It's adequate. The staff was excellent. The amenities were very good. The dining area was very nice.

Commonwealth Senior Living at King's Grant House was very clean and very well managed. The staff has tenure. The information during the admissions process was given to me very thoroughly, professionally, and promptly. It looked like a fabulous community. The rooms were clean and adequate in size. The dining area looked wonderful. I heard that the food is fabulous.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We moved my husband yesterday into Kings Grant House. It is very clean, very updated, and modern. Every person that I've come in contact with, they are happy. They are patient and community-minded. Every caregiver in the memory center that I have had contact with is trained in dementia and Alzheimer's care. They are patient-oriented. They spend extra time making sure that everybody is taken care of and all of their needs are met. I have been very impressed. They have chefs preparing the meals. They have a calendar of activities. They have family nights, and they have activities every day. They have a common area where they have movies and bingo and different activities. They don't like their residents to stay in their rooms. They want them involved in activities with the other residents and to be out mingling socially. They have screened-in balconies on every floor that have very nice furniture. They also have a courtyard outside. They take the residents out there when it's warm and they serve them ice cream. They also have popcorn nights when they're watching movies and they try to make it festive for them.

Commonwealth Senior Living at King's Grant House was nice. Dawn was the lady who helped me there and she was extremely helpful and very, very nice. It was just a little bit older. So, it wasn't as shiny, new, and fancy, but it felt warm and inviting. You could tell that the people cared about their community. It was a welcoming environment. It was nice and clean. They have activities, a garden for the residents to work in, an area that has a library, and games available.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your kind words and giving us the opportunity to celebrate our associates. Since improving the lives of seniors and their families is central to everything we do, would you please take a moment to share how we could have improved your time with our community? My husband is in Commonwealth Senior Living at King's Grant House. He's in memory care. It's a very nice place. I rather he did not have to be there, but they seem to take very good care of him and that's a plus. If anyone had to go somewhere like that, I think it's a very nice place. They seem to know what they're doing. They take good care of the residents. They say, "This is your home. You do whatever you want to do." They can go out into the courtyard and get fresh air and what have you. They have movies and different things like that to keep them occupied. The rooms there are furnished. They have cable TV that is not extra. He has a private room. The food seemed nice. They have everything that they should have. They go to the dining room and eat together, and they have a variety. I haven't seen anything repeated too much. It's a good selection.

Provider Response

Dear Dolores, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. We know choosing the right memory care community is not a decision any family takes lightly, and we’re honored you’ve entrusted us with the care of your husband. Sincerely, Gary Pelton Senior Executive Director

I have no complaints with Commonwealth Senior Living at Kings Grant House. Nothing I saw was wrong. It's a nice place. I just met one person. She was fine. The dining area is fine. Everything about that facility is nice. It would be a nice place to put a relative in. I saw all of the rooms. There was plenty of space. It had real nice sized rooms, and it seemed to be clean. They had their own bath. I saw the fitness room, and it was really nice.

The staff at Commonwealth Senior Living at King's Grant House was most accommodating. I had a question. They were not able to answer it, but they found a social worker and a physical therapist that was on-staff, and they came in and accommodated me. They really went out of their way to make sure I had all my questions answered. The apartments were very nice. They let me see what was available and what they had in their apartments. They were nicely decorated. It's in a nice, quiet, intimate neighborhood. There's no such thing in my eyes as perfection, but it's pretty close to it. The facility was very nice and definitely updated. They had it decorated for the holidays, which made it very homey.

In the memory care section they accept residents who need behavior monitoring 24/7, but they don't have enough staff to manage them, so some of the quieter residents find it hard to get the attention they need. My loved one was often left in wet or soiled pants because the aides were busy serving a meal or they were not providing timely checks. Always understaffed for the level of need of their residents. Best points were good food and good activity planners.

Provider Response

Dear Elliebird, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. Improving the lives of seniors and their families is our primary focus, and I appreciate you reaching out in order for us to address this. I would like the opportunity to speak with you in greater detail. Please reach out to me at your convenience. Sincerely, Gary Pelton Executive Director

My mother-in-law is a resident of Commonwealth Senior Living at Kings Grant House. It's a nice building and she has her own room. We often have a meal there and there's music and dancing after the meal. They also take out the residents to other places. They have everything taken care of; once, she fell down, and they called 911 to take her to the hospital, and then they called my husband right away. The community is locked in, but that's required because she got lost more than once before. They also supply her with a balanced diet, so she's getting her weight back. The staff joins in during the family night, and they're very friendly and sociable. I've never had a problem; once, someone was trying to go into my mother-in-law's room and there was an argument that the staff stepped in and cleared right away.

King's Grant House (Commonwealth Senior Living at King's Grant House) is where I put my dad. It's good and clean. It's not perfect, but my dad has progressed so well when he moved out of a memory care into a normal unit. They do have activities, but he doesn't participate in them. They have family nights, trips, and church services in the community. They have good food, too. I went over there for a family dinner, and they had bangers and mash that was absolutely out of this world. The dining area is adequate but nothing fancy. There is a fancy one downstairs, but my dad doesn't go there. Overall, King's Grant House is a nice, small community.

I visited this facility

I really liked Kings Grant House very much, but it was out of my price range. The place was clean. There was a gazebo outside where residents could sit in the shade. The manicurist was really nice, and the staff was really nice. They were very caring about the people. What impressed me were the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness. You could walk into an area and not smell something. The staff seemed to care about the patients. I was shown everything, including the different-sized rooms. I got a very good tour and the person who showed me around was really helpful and nice. It was really a nice place. They had memory care. Residents were given snacks, and they could walk around freely. The staff knew them by name, so I was very impressed by that.

I visited this facility

We visited Kings Grant House. The location was not what we were looking for, and it didn't have the accommodations we wanted. We were looking for a two-bedroom, and they only had one-bedrooms. They gave us a nice tour of the facility and were helpful. However, nothing really struck me that made me want to live there. They had two dining rooms, but we were not offered to eat in either one. One was adequate, and the other one was nice. The rooms were relatively small.

King's Grant House is nice and neat, but it wasn't what I was looking for. I had a very nice talk with the lady there, and they gave me a good rundown of everything they did there. The people were very friendly.

King’s Grant House is one story, and you can have shared rooms. It was closer to where I live, and it’s in a good location and neighborhood. The employees were very nice.

I am not very happy with this place. My friend lives there and the staff are not very nice. They do not speek to you. I walk in all the time , I never sign in and the staff are nice on your first you move in, but there after they forget about you. There has not been any activities for my friend to do after 7:00p.m. He is alway in his room saying why not stay in be, there is nothing to do! Very disappointed in the place!

Mom is at Kings Grant House. I like that it’s smaller and more personal. The staff are very accommodating. The rooms are very good. Their food is fine. If she doesn’t want the meal, they always have all different kinds of salad that she can get in replace of it.

My mother is currently in Kings Grant House. Actually the facility is clean. The people are very attentive to her, and they have done a good job. She does complain occasionally about the food, but other than that, she seems to be fairly content and happy. She has her own private room, and it is spacious enough for her. They have a lot of stuff going on all the time. They try to get the people there to participate, and they do a good job with it.

I visited Kings Grant House Assisted Living, and the lady that was there was really nice; she was amazing. It was a really nice place, but the rooms were so small and still expensive. When I came in and saw the staff, they barely spoke, and I didn't get a good feel when I went in there.

Kings Grant is nice, it’s close to me, and it's in the right price range. They kind of negotiated with us when we were going out about the price. They were expanding at the time we moved in, and we knew that the price would be more, but our place has not gone up yet. Mom was moved into memory care just in the same facility, but in a different unit. They have done a lot of renovation and added on to it. Their memory care is new, and everything still in flux. It is good, but things need to settle down a little bit. Things have changed since my mother has been there, and the management has changed. The memory care is the new, and the nurse is new. It’s kind of hard to evaluate and give a critic on something that’s still changing.

King’s Grant House is more than adequate for the care they’re giving. They watch my brother-in-law very closely, and they interact with him. They help him take a shower, and they dress him. They seem to be very good. The food is good, and he eats well there. They know where he is all the time. They have a community dining room and a day room for activities or socializing. The rooms are a good size. Although it’s just a room and a bath, you can fit a lot of stuff in it.
