This nursing home has horrible guidelines for all areas of care. Nursing skills are lacking. My sister could not breathe and was chocking and gasping for air. Her vital signs were not taken, her lungs were not listened to. Her nurse told her to relax. My sister yelled please call 911, her nurse said ,I have a few things to do first. My sister called me and I called 911.. That’s how she left this horrible facility. While their she became infected with a bacterial that was highly contagious. She was “supposed “ to be in isolation but they left the patient in the same room with her for 3 days before moving her, the bathroom was shared by 2 men in the adjoining room, really? AND she was still going to community physical therapy!! Hygiene? Glad you asked. They were taking wipes from one patient’s room to another because they were running out of them. They would wipe poop off of my sister’s butt, not change gloves and touch all surfaces, including doorknobs! Germ infested is this place! Please remember this the next time if you ever have to go here. I am writing this out of concern for anyone who has to put their family member here! To be fair there were a couple of staff members that were stars and their help was truly appreciated!

The nursing home need stricter management. The level of care has declined. The male patients are unshaved, the female patient has facial hair, the fingernail are long and dirty, urine smell in hall. The dining hall during lunch time is like a social club for the workers. They are on the cell phones while feeding the patients, talking loud, using profanity.

I have visited Heritage Hall in Nassawadox, Va numerous times and each time I go I notice a urine or bowel movement odor in the hallways. It's always understaffed. Patients lights will ring for almost an hour if not longer and no nurse appears. I have seen them bring out patients from the mental department to the front with other patients. While I was visiting a patient in the mental department got outside more than 3 times and once was at night as I was leaving. The food is disgusting or they don't receive enough and then when you go to the kitchen to ask for a sandwich they have attitudes and won't fix it but they carry alot of food home. I have witness patients crying in the hallway for hours and the nurses laugh and walk by. I have seen patients pushed and pulled by residents. You have non nurses aka the other workers helping more with the patients then the nurses. It's just a shame and I can't understand why they have not been shut down. This is a disgrace and I hope something will be done. Most of the rooms are dirty or something is broken and it takes forever for maintenance to fix it or even answer your question.

This place is the worst! I wanted to take my father to a different facility but they weren't qualified to care for him so we had to put him in heritage hall. The nurses are incompetent or lazy,I'm not sure which. They are not checking his wounds or changing his heart port! We are going to try and get him out of this place as soon as possible!

My father was at Heritage Hall, and it was not good because they had long term patients with mental retardation or dementia, and they come in and out of his room like they belong there. It was not a place I want to put him in for the rest of his life. They had a really good facility, but I was not really happy because they kept trying to give him medications that he did not need. They also did not have enough nurses.

Some of the staff at Heritage Hall was very helpful. Sometimes I would run into a few rude one though. They act like they couldn't be bothered and didn't want to do much work. On one occasion my grandma was found to be very wet like she hadn't been changed for a long time. The charge nurse was told about it. The nurses were nice most of the time. After that occasion there weren't really any more problems. My grandma was always dressed nice and seemed to be in a good mood. Heritage Hall is not really that big. Sometimes there was a smell in the hallways of urine. I noticed lights going off. They were usually answered right away. If there were people there who act like they didn't want to work, the lights were ignored and not answered even though the workers looked like they weren't doing anything. Overall I think Heritage Hall is an alright facility. They just need to make sure to put the patients first and tend to their needs at all times.
