The facility is the best very clean and it feels like home. The staff is very nice and well mannered they take good care of the residents. The resident appeared to be please with the facility. I spoke with some residents along the way they were very excited about the activities ,they had planned for the day there is nothing like a good game of bingo win there are prizes involved. The administrator was exceptionally nice to me when I stopped by the office to ask questions about my loved one's care. He gave me his personal number and told me I could call him at any hour and he'd assist me however he needed to. I really loved that, it made me feel really happy because I know care about my loved ones when I'm not around.

I was in this place 3 months and it was hell. I was denied treatment and care. I was left without proper medical for several weeks which caused long term life changing affects. If you love you family members do not place them there. I watched staff mistreat residents and leave them in there soiled garments for hours.

This was several weeks of lgiteral hell. I was very sick. I had lost my eyesight and the use of my legs from being in a medically induced coma because I had contracted a respiratory infection. The staff were cruel, at best. I could not get a shower because I could not afford to pay the nurses or orderlies to get help. There were days when they would not give me mum medications because they were out of? Because I could not see I could not empty my bedside potty and they would not because I could not pay. For fun they would move it so I could not find it and laugh. One night I fell and the nurse got angry and slammed me down on the floor ripped off my underwear and put a diaper on me, then said if I made any more problems she would step me to the bed! When I complained to the head nurse the next day they told her ai had jumped out of the bed! I could not use my legs!! I was there to learn to cope without my eyesight and physical therapy onl my legs. I had2 sessions!? Then I contracted MERS in my respiratory system and was finally transferred back to VCU Medical center where I was put in another medically induced coma. Four months later I was finally allowed to go home. 7 years later I am still dealing with the aftermath of this MERS infection I contracted in this hell hole. This company should be shut down and it's employees tried for gross incompetence, cruelty and probably worse.

My room was nice and roomy. Lots of storage space. The staff was great they got the job done. There could have been more activities but there was bingo, card shark and pokeno . A resident could sign up for outside activities with transportation provided. The dining room was nice but more meals were served in our room. The food could have been warmer and not cold by the time it hit the floor.

Envoy of Westover Hills is satisfactory in all areas. The place is homey and clean. The people seemed content. The staff is helpful. There was a salon and rehab room. They have the ability to get them to daycare for activities if they want to.

I recently had my mother at this facility after she was hospitalized with heart failure. Due to my mothers complex medical condition I had to choose a skilled nursing facility that could take care of her needs. I have lived in the Richmond area for some time and in asking around had heard mix reviews. My experience was nothing but positive. The facility is an older building but, the care was excellent. My mother enjoyed working with the therapist and I received peace of mind by the way the staff physician and nurses took care of my mother's cardiac condition. She is now home living with me and we just enjoyed our holidays together and are optimistic about 2015.

My father was sent to this place. When we arrived to see him they could not locate him. When we did find him he was sitting in a dark cold room. It was 9 degrees outside. They nurse for got to turn on the heat in his room. He was laying in his own body waste. We never did find his close. He was never given his pain medication. He is terminally ill with brain cancer. The person in charge got extremely agitated when she was informed we were sending him back to the hospital. He fell out of the bed three times. They only reported it once. I would not send my dog to this place.

My dad unfortunately was transferred to this place. He had end-stage Alzheimers. He was at the Envoy for two week and each day I visited him, he was markedly worse. I think Envoy hastened him to his death. When I first arrived, none of the staff seemed to know where he was. We found him, eventually, doubled over in a wheelchair, near the nurse's station. I suppose they overlooked him. We learned that they were billing Medicaid for "physical therapy" sessions for him daily. He was very ill, bedridden, unable to walk, talk, follow commands, etc. This "physical therapy" was, to say the least, not in his best interests: he was dying, and clearly just wanted to be left alone in bed. No, the staff would get him up to these sessions, or wheel him to the dining room. The place smelled of urine, but most do. It was not in very good repair. His room on the "good," floor (not the long-term care floor on the second floor, that was locked away). His room was dingy and the walls had holes in the drywall. Each day we would see a severe decline. He was pocketing food. Every day, we would visit, and he had a large mass of pocketed food in his cheek. We would have to clear this out ourselves as the staff obviously did not notice, or did not care. I believe he aspirated some of their pink, pureed 'food' and he developed pneumonia and died the third day I visited. We had to beg the doctor to give him morphine, first after tracking him down, as it was the weekend, and they have NO DOCTORS IN THE BUILDING during weekends. So, we had to wait a day for the "special order" for palliative medication, and even after the order was given, it took the staff two hours to deliver the morphine shot. He was obviously suffering and in pain: his face was strangely contorted, and though he could not talk, he whimpered like a baby. We unforntunately had to put him here, as there were no other beds anywhere in Richmond. Believe me, we did not wish it, but there was no other option. So, we had to fight the staff not to give any more unnecessary PT, meds, and tracking down the social worker was hard. I had the feeling she was avoiding us. Oh, the staff is very 'jovial,' but I'd rather have COMPETENCE and CARE over JOKESTERS any day when it comes to healthcare. If I could give this place a negative rating I would. My sister-in-law referred to it as a 'depressing sh*thole' - pretty apt description. The patients are elderly and obviously low income, but this does not mean they have to live their last days in hell. Most of the short-term patients smoke and though smoking isn't permitted inside, they'd allow residents to sit inside the dining room beside the open door and smoke. This place has a 1/5 star rating by the DHHS of Richmond as of 5/12. No big surprise there.

My Great Aunt is on a lockdown unit in the facility. Although the facility Is not presented as upscale on the outside, the staff on the inside definitely are! Each time that I visit, they are always laughing and joking with her. She is not too fond of having assistance with her bath and always has a few choice words when the staff tries to help! They are required to report instances such as this. When I receive the phone call, they never seem displeased with her. Instead, they just laugh and find the humor in her sarcastic comments. Considering that she lived with me at one point, I also find great humor in it! The activities that can be performed are somewhat limited on this unit due to the mental capacity of some of the elderly patients, which is why I was very surprised to walk in on an afternoon bingo game. To my surprise, this was actually well received by the patients and for those that could not participate as well, staff assisted. This is a great facility and I am pleased with the care that my Great Aunt receives!

This is the worst facility that I have ever visited. My great-great uncle was a patient. The smell was horrible, I could only stay there about 5 or 10 minutes because the smell was affecting my stomach. The halls were dark and gloomy and there were patients just sitting in the hall in their wheelchair...it was pretty sad. When we finally made it to my great-great uncle's room, he was sharing it with like 3 other patients. The room was only big enough to accomodate 2 patients comfortably, but the cramped 4 people in the room. I would NEVER recommend this facility to anyone, I would have given them a -5 stars...but I did not have the option
