My mother-in-law has had an apartment on the assisted living floor for 2 1/2 years. She was living in her own home for over a year after her husband passed away. She is well taken care of and we don't have to worry about if the caregiver can make it to her home in bad weather or any maintenance issues anymore. The cost of living at Valley View was actually cheaper than staying in her own home with caregivers! It has been very easy to visit her in the apartment or take her to doctor appointments. All five of her children and extended family are very pleased with the decision.

Valley View Retirement Community looks like a welcoming community. It's not an overly large place, but it's roomy for its size and it's very well maintained. The apartments were very well done. It's not a luxury. It's just a very comfortable apartment. Kathy was the marketing and admissions director and she did a very good job. She's very knowledgeable. She's been there 16 or 17 years so she knows the place well. The dining area was very nice, too. They have several activities. We just didn't get into that, because I do enough of my own activities without worrying about it, but they have a library and an activities room.

It’s been less than a week since my parents moved to Valley View. We like that we have a full apartment with a porch/balcony. They have the kinds of activities that were most appealing. It’s a 40-year-old place, but it’s beautiful and very well maintained.

I want my dad to go to Valley View. It is a beautiful place. They have independent living and assisted living. With independent living, they can get two meals a day, and there's medical people on-call 24 hours a day for all residents. For the same price as with the other facility, my dad would get a one-bedroom with the two meals a day. Valley View is much newer and has more amenities in the facility as well.
