I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Our family was very unhappy with the support and care received. Our family member was sharing a room with another person that wanted the room warmer (78) so the thermostat was set at that temperature. We were told the other person got cold with the temperature lower. When help was required, it took 1 and one-half hours before anyone came to help. The CNA was wonderful, but she had 24 patients to provide care to. The facility was cramped, understaffed and my family member was sent "out" after one and one-half days in a medical crisis.

My father was here for re-hab. He was on the Peaks floor, and it was the worst experience of my life and I'm sure his after 2 days. He was moved to different floor after one of the Therapist came in and saw the situation. He was supposed to get better care there and I can't say it was much better there. If you have a loved one here, please be sure to check on them daily, especially if they can't speak for themselves. My father was afraid to speak up, he didn't want to do anything to delay his discharge which thankfully came 10 days later. Only positive was his PT and OT therapist were awesome which is why he was able to get out as soon as he could. I do not recommend; they are extremely understaffed, which most of the employees use this excuse for poor care. My father is diabetic and never put on diabetic diet even though I asked multiple times. Rooms are small, not many interactions with staff since they are too busy and never came to address our needs, sometimes on their personal cell phones which I noticed several checking. Not sure about amenities or activities, if there are any they must be on a different floor.

The staff at Summit Health & Rehabilitation Center seems to be good and everyone has been very friendly. When I'm there, they seem to be doing well. I have my dad in a private room. It's small and he's fine with it, but I just have not been pleased with the care under the new management. It's adequate, but not anything extra. They have a really good activity staff though. They have two excellent activity coordinators and they have quite a few activities planned every day (now that we're able to do more) such as music activities, different little special making (like a special little desserts), and some exercise. They also do bingo and other games. They really have bumped up the level of activities.

I visited a friend in The Summit Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was there for several weeks. The place is clean. The staff was polite and attentive. They took care of things. Everything was nicely clean and in its place. The rooms were clean. They're just nice, neat, clean, and inviting. The room was nice-sized, very well equipped, clean, bright, and roomy. They seemed to have the facilities to take care of people.

The doctor referred the Summit. It was for a family member, and we are very pleased with the service. As for the activities, I'm not sure because all we used is the rehab. They were not able to participate in that at that time due to the recent surgery. I just known several people to be there -- friends and acquaintances -- and they were very pleased. The food was good. I did not go to the regular dining area. It was just a small private area for a handful of the residents in the rehab center. I did not taste it, but I saw it and it looked very appealing. A family member said it was good. I would say the safety and security is good. They pat people at the entrances, and they have locked doors after hours. We are not pleased with the pricing as we were at the other facility.

My mother was in Lynchburg Health and Rehab 4 months. They promised us the moon before she was admitted. Once she got in, everything they told us they would do was forgotten. EVERYTIME I visited my mom I found things wrong. I kept asking why things were not as they had told us in the beginning and again I would get passed from one staff member to another, and would leave with another bunch of empty promises. In the four months that my mom was there, the things that she could do ( walk with a walker, go to the bathroom, et) was lost because she was put in a wheelchair and left there all day. I was told from the beginning the she would be toileted every 2 hours and would have a pullup on to make that possible. Instead she was put in a diaper with velcro tabs. These were used because they were easier for the CNAs. They would just let her sit there, when she did soil herself, they didn't have to take off her pants in order to change her. When I did try to communicate with the CNAs they got an attitude. Then I would go to their boss and get promises that were never fullfilled. My mother suffers from dementia. I did not want to disrupt her again but after 4 months, that is what I did! She is

I visited this facility

It is a very small area. The staff was friendly for the most part, besides a few nurses. The kitchen and dining area was nice, but the woman who ran the kitchen was not. The living areas were very nice.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My mother stayed in the Summit rehab portion towards the beginning of 2010 for recovery from a stroke. This was a very hard time, but the summit was a great place for her to stay. From the first day that I walked into the summit I felt peace. The open windows that allowed sunlight, and the well kept room was a deciding factor. My mother seemed to like the nurses and those who helped her. She also was able to attend therapy daily, and got to eat in a large dining hall so she was not confined to a room. I only wish that she would have had a little more available activities, but I understand she was in recovery. It was a very nice place with wonderful service.
