I toured Heritage Green Lynchburg's assisted living. When I walked in, I could smell the food at lunchtime. I thought that was an indicator that the food was going to be pretty good which means a lot to my mom because she's a picky eater. I thought the facility looked pretty clean. I was impressed with it. The person who gave me the tour was very nice and informative. I also talked to the guy who is in charge of the physical therapy so I know that my mom will be able to work with somebody there, which is a good thing.

My family has a member that has been a resident of the Memory Care unit for 1 1/2 years. All the management are very professional and responsive to any questions. The staff and managers treat the residents with respect and caring as if the residents are their own family. The facilities are nice and the food is excellent. They make every effort to make both residents and family members feel as valued. They plan regular activities including off site excursions and to keep the residents active and involved as much as possible. They know every resident by name and their preferences in behavior and participation. Highly recommend for consideration of a loved one who needs 24x7 care and safety.

When my husband needed care in assisted living, Heritage Green was the best option for him and our family here in Lynchburg. The rooms are spacious and we were able to decorate his room with familiar furniture and things he would like. There was a variety of food options and would give him options if he requested or needed it. Our family was most pleased with the staff who cared for my husband. From the practical of cleaning rooms and laundry to the personal interactions, we found Heritage Green to be the best place for our loved one. We could tell they genuinely cared for and loved our family and we will always be grateful to these amazing people.

When I was first looking for s memory care facility to place my mom, I scheduled a tour online. Within 2 hours Misty called. She listened to my needs and told me they had an opening and would hold it until after my tour. She had me come in for a tour in 2 days. When I arrived she greeted me with a warm hug and told me she was glad I was there. I knew the moment I walked through the doors that was where my mom needed to be. I even brought the deposit to secure her room. Misty is amazing!!!! When I brought my mom there to place her, Misty also greeted her with her warm, beautiful smile and welcomed her home! I begin to say enough wonderful things about this place and all the staff. You will be blessed if you place a family member here.

My father was on the assisted living side for a short period and then moved to Memory Care. The entire staff on both sides were always friendly, professional, willing to listen and helpful with anything that arose during my dad’s stay. The dietitian listened to any of the meal concerns I had, the skilled care givers helped whenever I needed something or had a question, everyone was very supportive. They had planned trips and many activities planned out monthly for the residents and families. A highlight was the Fathers Day car show! I’d recommend Heritage Green to anyone!

I toured the facility and found it to be welcoming ,homely and resident focused . The entire staff was friendly and more than willing to answer questions and accommodate any concerns I may have had . The facility itself had a cozy feeling and even had decorations for the Holiday that was approaching . It was warm and smelled amazing ! The rooms were well kept as well as the residents ! Music was playing and the residents were occupied with stimulating activity they were enjoying ! I appreciated how I was greeted and the time each person took to explain things at their best ability . More importantly the residents were so canned for and so loved ! #HighlyRecommend

My husband is a recent member of the memory unit. They have treated him with dignity and care. The facility is a typical unit with basic tables, chairs and other items needed for care of the residence. The staff is the treasure of the unit. I thank them for giving him the care he needs plus knowing that he is safe!

Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care did not feel like a place I wanted for my friend. It didn't feel homey or warm. I felt that it was understaffed, too. It felt cold, and the room was typical and institutional. The staff who toured me did pretty well though. She was an activities director. She wasn't the actual person who typically does the work, but she did the best she could. The dining area was institutional. I was not impressed. With regards to amenities, it was typical and institutional. I didn't see anything unusual that would have grabbed my attention. They could make it warmer and more inviting. They could make it cheerful.

Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care were all single-room units. The woman who showed it to us was an excellent presenter. She's been at her job for many years and she has had other jobs within the facility. She was very knowledgeable about everything. She said most people stay there a good while, not maybe the CNAs. The rooms that I saw were very dark, and you didn't have much space, which bothered me. The people that I encountered were very professional, friendly, and welcoming people. The courtyard was a very small area. There was not much outside activity. Although they were going to have a luau that day, and so there were some personnel that were welcoming folks into the facility.

I went over to the memory care at Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care. I'm very impressed with them. The administrator and the office manager were very informative. They wanted to know about my sister personally and it was very important that they did that and I was quite impressed. The rooms were really large. They're letting people use their own furniture, their own beds, and all that they want. The people that I met that live in the memory care part seemed very alert, very clean, and seemed happy. They have a garden area and a living area where they can watch TV. All of this is in a secured part of the building so that people with Alzheimer's couldn't wander off or anything. The place was clean. I was very impressed with the activities. The residents had just finished having an art class and it was toward the afternoon. They were just sitting around, kind of talking to each other and they were in the living area. There was one lady that was taking a nap. It was just a comfortable atmosphere. The dining room is off of a living room and there's enough space in there for everyone to eat. They post their menu ahead of time, and all of their meals looked good. They have a real chef. The meals were very balanced looking. It had your meat and vegetables. They also have accessible van transportation to medical appointments. They told me that they go out on rides or to the mall. I see their buses around a lot. They have a front porch and an outside courtyard. The light coming in was very impressive. The facility was nice. I would live in it.

Every person working here that I have met has been wonderful! They have all been friendly, helpful, caring and respectful to me and my father. The residents' rooms and the group areas are a nice size, comfortable, welcoming and kept clean. The two large courtyards are a particular joy for my father along with the van rides and outings that are offered weekly. He enjoys many of the offered activities and is always eager when a performer is there to sing n play their instruments. I am very pleased with Heritage Green and believe it was by far the best choice for my father.

We are currently looking into placing my mother in law into an assisted living facility. We did a pop in tour to several facilities in the area and I will say I was very impressed with this facility. It was so clean and smelled very nice. We were very impressed and will be placing my mother in law at this facility by the end of the month. We were surprised that with even a pop in tour everything was so well kept and a CNA even did our tour because it was on the weekend and management was not there. The CNA took our information and before we could get home their admissions person was calling us. Everything so far has been easy and very organized.

We feel like Heritage Green has been a very positive move for our mom. Immediately when meeting Misty, first over the phone and then in person, we felt that she cared and was interested in our mom and her well-being. Kim, the director, has always been so pleasant and caring in our interactions with her. Mom’s room is very nice with her things from home. She enjoys all of the activities including basketball, bingo, noodle ball and outings when possible. She has made some friends. Other staff members have also been very kind and kid around with our mom which she loves. Again, we feel this has been the right move for our mom.

From the minute we walked in and toured this facility with Misty, I was so impressed with the friendliness and pleasant atmosphere. Everyone is caring and makes you feel welcome. Great staff and team. They make it so much fun for the residents with all the daily activities, from exercising and games to celebrating every holiday and event. My mom has been well cared for and stays busy and has fun which is what we wanted for her. The food is excellent and they provide so many amenities from dr, medication administered, physical therapy, hairdresser, housekeeping and laundry. Our family has been so relieved to know that our Mom is well taken care of enjoys herself with all the activities and enteraction with her own peers not sitting at home being lonely and depressed. Thanks everyone.

Before choosing a Memory Care facility for my wife, I visited all the facilities in the Lynchburg area. All facilities do their best to sell you on why they would be the best choice for you and your loved one and we are fortunate to have so many great facilities to choose from. For me, Heritage Green stood out with the staff's friendliness and genuine concern for my wife's well being. They send me pictures and texts with updates on how she is doing and reach out to me to help me through this transition. I can not say enough about the great folks at Heritage Green.

It doesn't feel (or smell) like a residential facility. It feels more like home with residents bringing in their own furniture and decorating their rooms. This helps with memory care patients. Finding a place for mom with staff who understand dementia has been wonderful! There are always activities for them. They make sure residents are eating meals and have morning & afternoon snacks and drinks. There is a lovely courtyard for them to walk through and to sit to enjoy the outside. Administration provide their personal phone numbers so you can call anytime for a report or to ask questions. They are always available to listen to your concerns and take care of them promptly. They also jump in to help anytime they're needed without hesitation to look after the residents and treat them like family. We're happy mom has so many caring people around her.

Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care was very nice. It was a smaller community, which I thought was a great benefit. We got to see the residents doing some activities together, and they all seemed very happy and involved, even with everything going on with COVID, so it looks like a very nice and welcoming community. Each room has a closet and an individual bathroom with your own shower and a shower chair. Each room has its own window, which is very nice. They do provide furniture if you don't want to bring your own, so I thought that was really cool as well. They have private and shared rooms. The shared is obviously cheaper. You get a clean bed. They offer bingo and gospel hour. They do cookies that come around on a cart. They have milkshakes that come around. They have weekly trips around Lynchburg. They all get in a van, drive around Lynchburg, and see the site. When they go outside, they have a wonderful patio that looks gorgeous for when it's warmer out. I didn't try the food, but they showed us the menu. They also have a nice wine and cheese hour. It looks amazing. The facility is very easy to walk around and has no stairs or anything. It's very easy to find your way around.

I've been impressed with the Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care. I feel like my aunt is getting good care. It's clean and the staff seems to be attentive. It's on par with other facilities. Their admissions lady is very personable. She's very genuine, as well as the administration. They have lots of activities. Today, they were going on a van ride, and everyone was dressed in tie dye shirts. They also play bingo frequently, have wine and cheese parties on Tuesdays, and ice cream socials on Sunday. My aunt does not participate as much, and that's just because of her condition right now, but residents seemed content as they could be. Everybody is usually out and about and not confined to their rooms or anything. I see them in the lobby, in the dining room, and on the porch, so they're always visible.

We placed dad in Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care. I think it seems to be well staffed, which I appreciate. They clean the rooms, mop, and clean the bathrooms on a daily basis. They have activities. They're easy to communicate with. They listen to what you have to say and respond. It's expensive, but they all are. I've been there a couple of times. The food looks par for the course. It didn't look like it's gourmet, but it looks fairly decent. I did tell them that for lunches instead of a big one, he enjoys soup and a sandwich. They said they would see that he got that several times a week. So far, I think it's OK. It seems to be going all right. I think they gather the people down and watch TV, sing songs, watch movies, and various things like that. It's kept very clean, it doesn't have any odor, which I like. They do have a nice little park-like area that they have access to, just a little walking path and a bench out there. It's kind of nice. It's like a big backyard, where there's some greenery and things that I think are really nice. The staff have been totally, totally responsive. One day when I went, I called the nurse and I said, "I know this isn't a fun job." She said, "Oh, we are happy to help you and anything he needs." I mean, they have really good attitudes. One of the attendants told me that at lunch time, she asked him what kind of music he'd like to listen to; she played that. So, as far as it goes, they seem to be good.

This place is horrible. Their patients were often left unattended in their rooms, and the staff had an attitude a lot. My grandma was here for a few months, and this place left her alone to choke to death. She died of a choking incident, because of her Alzheimer’s and mental health issues. The staffing’s report contradicted the EMT’s report. They are not properly trained on how to handle mental health conditions! Do not have your loved ones live here unless you want them to be alone, or suffer. I witnessed the staff would often leave patients alone in their wheelchairs in front of the TV.

Terrible, neglectful elderly care. To have my Gran fall so frequently, go to the ER for trying to get up and landing on her head, breaking it, and then seeing the rashes and skin infections from being left in a wet diaper has just broken us. Her mental health tanked after being shut in and left alone, not receiving the help, therapy, or even the food she needed. We found out they were not even doing food puree every meal because she can't have solids. Her weight drop was drastic. Doctor said there were many concerns with her state so we are not letting her back there. So many neglectful things that have brought her to what might be an early end, it's heartbreaking. And no, covid can't be to blame for negligence of this sort. I hate to leave this review but a few nice CNAs don't outweigh what is a glaring admin, staff, and moral quandary that is causing people their life.

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING! Please do not send anyone you love and care about to this facility! My 84 year old mother had to call 911 to get someone to look after her last night. She called for assistance to go to the bathroom and no one ever showed up! On a previous occasion, a staff member who came to assist her after hours of waiting told my mother to "JUST PEE IN THE BED" Neglect - plain and simple.

Our visit to Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care was very good. This is what we would have picked if my mom had decided not to come home. Their accommodations at the assisted living were just rooms with their bathrooms. They didn't have phones in their rooms and you had to supply your own furniture because they didn't have any for rent. So we were going to have to move her hospital bed and furniture and it would have cost us $300 to make that move so that's one of the reasons why we didn't go over there. The staff was very friendly.

I was scouting a vacilitiy for an elderly friend with dementia. I would not have been able to get her settled into a better new home without the help and guidance of the staff at Heritage Green. The coronavirus had just begun to affect our area. Time was of the essence. They have been saviors and are most certainly angels. My friend is safe, healthy, and having a good time at college!!

I would definitely consider Heritage Green. The only thing was the money, but everything else looked really good. The staff seemed very caring and many had been there for a while. They do a really good job of caring for the residents. The apartments looked nice and accommodating. It would've been a good place for my folks in many ways. It's a good location, and there were woods around them, so it looked pretty. I liked it.

The rooms at Heritage Green are spacious and cheery. You can choose a private or semi private room and each room has it's own bathroom (showers are in a separate part of the facility). You are able to individualize the rooms as you choose. The staff is amazing. Many staff members have been there in excess of 20 years, which says a great deal about the facility. It was rarely that I needed to note any concerns, but whenever I did they were addressed immediately (as within the same day) and to my satisfaction. They take the residents out for lunch and always have interesting activities for the residents to participate in. They celebrate every imaginable holiday and always invite family to be a part of the events. There is a birthday celebration every month. But most important to me was the way my Mother was always treated with respect by all staff there. There is a beautiful courtyard area so the residents can safely enjoy beautiful fall and spring and summer days. The decision to place my Mother in Memory Care was one of the most difficult I ever had to make. There was never a time I felt I made the wrong decision with Heritage Green. I was told when I placed my Mother there that everything they do comes from love. That was completely evident. I was always kept informed with any changes or issues pertaining to my Mother. Her day to day care, her nursing care, her safety and overall wellbeing could not have been attended to better. My Mother passed approximately 15 months ago. I still have contact with the staff there from time to time. If you have to make this difficult decision, I highly recommend Heritage Green.

I write to express my total satisfaction with Heritage Greens memory care. For the last three years I have visited a family friend at this facility. Visitors are always welcomed in a professional manner by Heather P. The care provided is of the upmost quality. All staff members sincerely care about these residents. The facility is kept clean always. i have never visited and found anything lacking in their care. Any family who is thinking of a place for their loved one needs to visit and see for themselves the type of establishment that Heritage Green can provide. Let me close by saying that the activities program functions at a very high level thanks to Jennifer C and care staff.

My 81 year old mother, who has moderate dementia, spent a month in Heritage Green in Lynchburg this spring for respite care, and it was a great experience for her and our whole family. The facility is perfectly clean, has an updated look and is pleasant and comfortable with a number of different areas for the residents to spend their time in. The staff is outstanding and could not have been more welcoming--everyone we encountered was warm, caring and competent, and they seemed to know all the "tricks" to help manage people with dementia in a kind but effective way. We chose Heritage Green for her respite care in large part because of the facility and staff, but also because they offer a multiple daily activities, seven days per week (a lot of other places do not have activities on weekends, which we felt was a big problem). The residents seemed to love the activities which ranged from outings in the van, to hymn singing and music, to games and reading aloud. My mother enjoyed all of these, and the staff occasionally sent us photos of her participating, which our family appreciated. The food seemed very tasty and was fresh and hot in the dining area. My mother was clean, appropriately dressed and seemed to be very much enjoying herself whenever we stopped by (and visitors are welcomed any time, no notice needed). We will definitely choose Heritage Green for future respite care, and when the time comes for long term care, we are so happy that we have found a place where we feel confident my mother will be happy and will receive excellent compassionate care. Thank you so much, Heritage Green!

We knew right away this would be a safe and caring environment for our mother. Our concerns were less stressful just knowing that our mother was well taken care of each day… The staff is amazing and appreciated greatly. I cannot stress enough the attention to all details and questions myself and my siblings had when we were considering a place for our mother. We had absolutely everything we needed to make a decision on mom's care. We left our first meeting with Heritage Green personnel with feelings of trust and satisfaction, and this feeling has continued to this day!

We liked Heritage Green a lot. We chose it for my mother and she liked it. The staff was terrific. They catered to her all day, and they did a super job showing us the place. When we were there they were setting dinner and everything looked great. They were entertaining the residents when we were there.

Heritage Green was very nice. The staff seemed to be very capable. The apartments were clean and spacious. They offered three meals a day. It's about 15 minutes from our house and reasonably priced. I would be moving my father there next week.

I really liked Heritage Green as well, but it was not just a better fit for my grandmother. They were really good. I liked the facility; everybody was very nice, and the grounds were nice too.

Heritage Green was nice but only had studio apartments without a separate bedroom, so they didn’t have the amenities that we were looking for. The staff was really friendly and nice. My rating of 3 stars can me misinterpreted because it didn't satisfy some of the things that we were looking for, not because it's deficient in any way. The location and many things about Heritage Green were very appealing.

Heritage Green was a nice, small place. It was too expensive for my parents. The rooms were nice, medium sized, and had a nice bathroom in there with a seat and handles built into the wall where they could sit and take a shower. I liked that the bathroom was accessible. The closet was huge, and you can get a chest drawer, or one or two beds in the bedroom. I didn't like the physical therapy room that much because it was kind of small. There should be more rooms for activities because I think they do everything in the dining area. They had a movie theater room with a big-screen TV. I was expecting it to be a little bigger considering the prices.

Heritage Green is very clean, smells nice, and very modern looking; not like some old place. It has two different buildings; one is the memory building for people with Alzheimer’s, and then it has another building that is more assisted-living. I was impressed. They have a movie room where people can come in to sit down; so it’s probably got end-seats where you can watch movies on a big screen. In fact the one thing that I was so impressed about it was they want as many families to come by, and they said that you can visit 24-hours a day. So it’s not just open in the day time, and if you choose to come by at night. If that’s what your family wants or if they’re one that sleeps in the day, and stays awake at night; then you can do that. I thought it would be like a nursing home where people were in bed and there’s a sense of smell around the place, but it’s not. This is for assisted-living or it’s for people who can actually pretty much move around themselves. So you can’t be bedridden, and that’s the only downfall for us.

Thanks so much for visiting Heritage Green and giving us a 5-Star Rating! We are thrilled that you liked everything that you saw ~ from the environment to the activities. I wanted to clarify your comment about caring for residents who are ‘bedridden.’ While Heritage Green is definitely NOT a nursing home, we do care for residents who are on hospice and in some cases, may be bedridden. Because of our staff’s longevity and training, we are able to care for residents needing a high level of care.

We visited Heritage Green for my mother-in-law. It was OK, but the room was too small for what they charged. The services seemed to be the same as other places but a little bit higher priced.
Provider Response
Thank you for visiting Heritage Green. As you know, there are many factors that go into the rates of any Assisted Living community. At Heritage Green, residents are encouraged to be part of the community ~ participating in activities and enjoying the newly remodeled common areas. Our staff, many of which have been on our team for 5+ years, become second family. Most importantly, the quality of the care and services that we provided is unmatched in the Lynchburg area. It is difficult to see things like that during a visit, but if you haven’t made a final decision yet for your Mother-in-Law, I encourage you to return and talk with some of our residents and their families. They are our biggest fans and will help you to understand the value that Heritage Green offers.

Heritage Green is wonderful and they had been very helpful. The place is nice and everything is great. My mother has been there about two-and-a-half weeks now and she is just not happy. But it’s not the Heritage Green. They are wonderful and I have not one bad thing to say about it. But she is just not adjusting well. I thought she would like the activities and be around people. She hasn’t been outside since she has been there. They have a lovely porch. They have trips to a restaurant at lunch time and I can see where she wouldn’t want to go. They’ll sometimes take them to dollar stores just to get out. The place itself is very nice and clean. The dining room had a linen table cloth. The staff is very friendly and competent. Anytime I call they would call me back. They had been great. The rooms were adequate, neat, clean and nice.

I think Heritage Green Assisted Living and Memory Care provided the higher quality of care for assisted living. One of the main drawbacks to me was that they only had rooms with bathrooms. It was not apartment living. The staff was very courteous, professional, and caring. They treated the residents like family. The rooms were spacious. They had a high quality memory unit.

The staff in Heritage Green was really nice during my visit there. They told me everything I needed to know. They had good communication with the residents, and they were very friendly too. Some of the rooms we saw were smaller than the others. Some rooms were shared with two people. However, the private rooms were really nice and spacious.

I liked Heritage Green a lot. They were very friendly and seemed to be a very caring facility. The staff seemed to be totally interested in their clients. The apartments were wonderful. Other people may be looking for other things, but for my mother, I liked it, and it would be an appropriate place for her, if she would go.

We had my 91 year old mother with vascular dementia in a facility nearby. It had not gone well for different reasons. We moved mother to Heritage Green DayBreak, November, 2014. The difference has been amazing. The care she is getting is superior, the staff is well trained and the activities stimulate her mind. I must also say the care I have received has helped me so much. The staff is always helpful and understanding. I have no worries about whether mother will be taken care of. She has recurring UTI and has recently started a new medication that is helping. I don't think she could be in a better place. Linda Edwards

After observing a change in personality where my Mother was not participating, skipping meals, and not feeling well much of the time we felt a move was necessary to hopefully break the cycle. Moving to Heritage Green’s one-floor facility with a smaller community has proven to be beneficial as she is receiving more personalized attention. Staff members encourage participation and the medical team responds efficiently to questions and concerns. The overall cheerfulness and happy feel of the facility is welcoming to Mom and makes her feel proud of her home.
