After retiring Mum wanted nothing more than to go back to the hobby that she had pursued when she had just gotten married: her book club. However, after so many years all of her friends were now living far away. This is why we started looking for an assisted living home where she would be able to not only start her book club again, but also get the company of people of her own age, and she got it at Bentley at Lynchburg. She now also gets many other great advantages while living her, such as the doctors who are always available round the clock.

The front desk personnel are not very friendly. I visit a friend's mother every week when I am in town. I've been doing this for about 2 months. I have never been greeted or asked if I need help. I notice they aren't even that friendly with the residents. In fact, it does not seem there is much interaction at all between staff and residents in the lobby, dining hall, etc. You all need to work on your front desk staff.

We toured Bentley Commons at Lynchburg. It's very clean, very organized, and very homey. They provide a microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator in the rooms. The staff were very knowledgeable and very down to earth. They answered all our questions. They have a courtyard, places to walk, and an activity center. It's close to a shopping center across the street, so it's a good area.

My dad was at Bentley Commons at Lynchburg. The facility itself is very nice, but they are so understaffed. They said 60 percent of the people there are now on assisted living, and they do not have the staff or the assistance. They have like one person on call for the whole place, and it's upsetting because you can ring the buzzer and they don't come for 20 minutes if at all. I think if you're independent living, Bentley Commons is fine, but they have taken too many assisted living patients and don't have the staff to do that. My dad was there until we moved him in September. He'd been there for a couple of years. I would give them a 3 because even when someone came, their attitude was one of like, 'Oh well, here's another thing we have to do.' And where he is now, I don't find that at all no matter what the task. When they come, they always say, 'We're always happy to help you,' and that means so much because the patients get that. The facility was beautiful. They did have activities. I don't think my dad participated because nobody helped him get down because he's in a wheelchair. I've been there when my dad had been eating, and I think the food was fairly decent there. The staff was mediocre at best. The staff's attitude toward the patients that need help is very lacking. It was like they were just a pain. They were almost rolling their eyes if they had to come in and help with toileting or whatever. I think they need improving. They're very much understaffed. The labor force is now that may be contributing to it, but it seems like it was always like that when he was there. You couldn't even find anybody at Bentley. You'd go up and down the hall, and you couldn't even find anybody available.

At first glance, Bentley Commons is beautiful. A closer look shows a shoddily constructed building needing upkeep. The staff is more interested in chatting with each other than taking care of the residents. The atmosphere is that of a nursing home rather than independent and assisted living. My friend is very unhappy living here and is looking at other facilities. Not worth the cost.

I have mixed emotions about Bentley Commons. Although the majority of the staff if very kind and helpful, yet there seems to be a lot of things that "fall through the cracks" so to speak. I believe that the quality of proper and timely communications between the facility and the loved ones of the residents could be greatly improved. I am having a hard time justifying the costs with the actual "assistance" given, yet apparently most facilites all offer about the same level of care for the dollar.

I loved Bentley Commons at Lynchburg, it was a polished and beautiful community. I just didn't feel that it's a good fit for my step-dad because he needs more individual care than what they're used to doing. The amenities are excellent, there's a salon, a physical fitness room, etc. They have a professional staff, and the dining room is clean, well-kept, and it's pleasant to be in.

We visited Bentley Commons for my mother-in-law. We liked this one because the rooms were bigger and included a kitchen area, and it was cheaper than the other facility we visited. It would be the next one on our list.

My parents are in Bentley Commons. It is spacious, clean, and open. The staff is friendly, caring, and respectful. The apartment is quite spacious. It is about 700 square feet. It felt cozy and comfortable even with a lot of family members. The dining room looks very nice, and the food is good. They have Wii bowling, music concerts, outings, billiard, bingo, and movie nights.

So happy that my mom is here! The staff is wonderful. There is always a fun event going on when I come to visit. I have piece of mind that my mom is being taken care of when I go home and that is a great feeling.

My father-in-law is at Bentley Commons. It is good for assisted living. I didn't see any problems with the cleanliness of this place. They have activities. I think they are adequately staffed for assisted living.
