I have taken a 2-bedroom apartment at Jubilation by Silver Companies in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I found the people here to be very helpful when I was still looking. They showed me several different apartment options, notified me immediately when one became available, and even provided help in terms of my moving in. It was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend them to anyone. It's a 55+ community. I'm almost 79 and I feel right at home. There are people my age, people who are older, and people who are younger. There are children who go to the swimming pool on the hottest days and it makes me smile to remember all of the moments I had with my children and grandchildren. It's a lovely, lovely community. The apartment I'm in has a closet immediately to the right so you can hang up your coat or jacket. You come in through the kitchen and there's a lovely island in the middle of the kitchen so people can just take a seat right there and have a glass of wine or iced tea or whatever they feel like having. Beyond that is a very lovely living room area with a door out onto a lovely screened-in porch since I'm on the first floor. You don't have to worry about mosquito bites and it's a nice, spacious area. It's very pleasant to be out there. I get the sun for a significant part of the day if not all day. I can also see whether it's a cloudy day or a sunny day, blue skies or not, so I know how to dress accordingly. To the right, as you pass the kitchen, you can go into one of the bedrooms, and off of that bedroom is a private bath. I use that as my master bedroom. To the left is a little hallway with some storage space and another bathroom for the guests. That bathroom also opens into a second bedroom, which is also private. Both of the bedrooms have large windows that open. You can have blinds or drapes, but the windows provide lots of light. It's a very bright and open space. It's not dark and gloomy but bright and happy. The kitchen is very well-equipped even though your meals are provided with your rental. I like to cook and I like that I have plenty of things in the refrigerator for my guests. It also provides a place to keep cold beverages. It has a lovely built-in wine cooler for those who like it, and I do, so you have your refrigerator and can also use the wine cooler for other things that need to be cooled and I like that. They have an electric oven, and a stovetop with a microwave, so it has anything and everything I need. It also has a dishwasher and a sink. I can really live independently without having anyone provide my meals but it's also really nice when you're alone and not having to make your own tables or just to be able to go to a beautiful breakfast. It has every possible option. You get a notification of what the meals will be each evening and if you want to arrange something different, or if you have any food allergies or special requirements, they're very happy to work with you so that you or your spouse can eat anything and everything you love and want, but not anything that's going to make you sick or give you an allergic reaction. Also, they've just introduced a new program where you can arrange to have soup that you can take to your own apartment. There's a very minor additional cost but I'd much rather pay the $5 for the soup than spend two days making the really perfect soup. The other thing I love about this place is the activities that are provided. The other night we had bingo and it was great fun. There's ballroom dancing, line dancing, and country dancing. You can take lessons from 11:30 to 12:30, several mornings a week, if you choose to. If you know how to dance, you don't have to take lessons. Just show up for the music with the other people who like to dance. They even have a poker club here. They also take you on various field trips. We went into downtown Fredericksburg to listen to a musical group on the steps of the library and it was fabulous. We go to events in Richmond or Washington. Those are additional fees and they provide the bus and the transportation, but they're minimal fees and certainly no more than what you would pay if you were doing it and living elsewhere. It's usually a whole lot less than you would pay if you were living on your own. It's just a really nice benefit, and it bonds you to other people. You meet other people who are residents here, you get to know a little more about them, and you share these experiences together so you're really not isolated. You're really forming friendships and relationships that are important at this stage in your life.

I toured Jubilation by Silver Companies. It seems to be very active. There's nothing that I liked least. It was far superior. The staff was wonderful. It was a very happy and very pleasant tour. The facility was very clean. The kitchen was very nice. It was nice that there was a place for a washer and dryer. I got a one-bedroom for about the same size as a regular apartment. The bathroom was very nice. It didn't have the handlebars for the handicapped, and they were more than accommodating and asking how many I wanted, where I wanted them, that kind of thing to get it to where I needed. I felt I would be accepted and find friends there. There are a lot of things like a room where you can do yoga and chair exercises. There are two pools. Those saltwater pools, one inside, one outside. You can do aerobics. It was very nice.

Jubilation by Silver Companies was a very nice facility. The tour was a good experience for me. They had a lot of amenities and it was well priced, but they didn't have transportation. The rooms were luxurious. The staff was amazing. They had bingo and outings to local grocery stores and casinos.

We have been in Jubilation by Silver Companies for six weeks now. It is only independent living. They have wonderful activities. They have wonderful salt warm water pools, both outside and inside. The apartments are very nice. The staff is wonderful. They have a 24-hour concierge service. They have exercise classes. They have pool exercise classes. Practically every evening after dinner, they have entertainment come in. The food is wonderful. They feed us dinner tapas style, five nights a week and breakfast every day. There are enough activities that you can pick what you want. There's Bible study, garden club, dog walking parks, pickleball, and shuffleboard. I haven't used the pools yet, but they look wonderful. Value for money is a bit high though.
