My dad is in Bickford of Spotsylvania. The staff is caring, but they're understaffed as anywhere else. It's just unfortunate that they don't have staff to take care of all these patients that they have. I don't think it's their fault, it's just the way it is. They're very stressed out and it puts a lot of pressure on them. When it comes to activities, they pay more attention to the assisted living side, which is understandable, but I don't think they do anything for the dementia side. They just put them in front of the TV. They have a salon and a courtyard that's inside the building. They have cleaning people that come in, but due to COVID, sometimes they don't allow them to come in. And since they're short on staff, they can't keep up with their patients and clean the facility. If they had the staffing, I think it would be a smoother ride for these elderly. They have two people in the evening feeding them, taking them to their rooms, changing their beds, and trying to get them to bed. And you have two people in the room, and no one on the floor to watch the others to make sure no one gets hurt. The hospitals are right over the hill and down the road for about a 10-15 minute drive, and there are hotels and restaurants nearby.

We toured Bickford of Spotsylvania. The food presentation was amazing. The flavor was amazing. They have a great selection, and that changes daily, and you can even order, staple items every day. So if you don't want something that's on the menu, they have a certain set of options that you can order all the time. The rooms were great there. You can individually decorate them however you want. The dining area was like a restaurant-type dining. They actually seat you. They wait for you. There are couches everywhere, and pillows that they decorate per holiday. They have blankets out for the residents to be able to use during their stay. Even if they're out sitting in the living room and they get cold, there's a blanket there. It's a smaller place. So, they know everybody by name. It was wonderful. The staff answered every question, and let us peek into some of the actual residents' rooms that were decorated, so we could see what would fit and what wasn't. We got to pick some activities that they had and showed us all the activities they do every month.

I toured Bickford of Spotsylvania. I thought it was a great place, all around, very personalized, and family-oriented. Residents can choose regular activities to benefit the community if they would like to give extra purpose. They go to the doctor's appointments with them, and it's pet-friendly with a mobile vet and groomer. It has a very nice dining area with fresh food.

We toured Bickford of Spotsylvania. It was a very small setting, which was nice. It looked like the place was well-maintained and clean. The people I ran into seemed to be happy. The staff seemed to be attentive to the needs of the people. They had their residents engaged in either exercises or mind games. There was a group in one of the gathering areas sitting and talking amongst themselves. If you start at one point, you're going to end back up at the same point if you follow the building around. The doors were locked, so you had to have an access code or key fob to get into either the living part or the memory care section. There was a courtyard that was only accessible to the people in the memory care, which was a good thing. That means they couldn't wander out someplace else. The cleanliness seemed to be very well. There were a couple of areas on the carpet that they were getting ready to clean up because somebody had dropped crackers and crumbs. So for the most part, the area was very well-maintained and clean.

We went to Bickford of Spotsylvania. They are very good. It's very clean and homey and just welcoming. It's got sofas, tables, a fireplace, puzzles, and games on the table. It has a little dining/cafeteria area. You can watch the cooks prepare your meals and make fresh bread every single day. They have a medical facility where they dispense medicine. Everybody's medicine is computerized and tells you what medicine and when and what time. They won't go to the next person until that person has had their medicine at the correct time and the right dosage. They do have a nurse and an on-call doctor. The rooms are smaller than what my mother had been used to, but they're clean, they're well-organized, and the handicapped parts are very good. And everything's made wheelchair accessible. She showed me where they have a room for arts and crafts, or places to engage people. They do it daily. They have gardening there, you can have a little plot of land, or an area out in their atrium to do gardening.

Bickford of Spotsylvania was very nice. They were very competent and helped with answering our questions. I felt very comfortable with what their staffing level appeared to be and the competency of their people. The facilities were nice. The rooms were very nice. The facility was a little jammed into an area. It would have been nice if they had more land around it.

We went to Bickford of Spotsylvania. The tour was fantastic. The lady who gave us the tour did a good job. She asked a lot of questions about my father. The tour was pretty extensive. If it was based on the tour only, we would have gone with the Bickford of Spotsylvania. They were one of the top choices. The staff seemed very nice. We were there during lunchtime, and there were lots of people at different tables in the lunch area and having what sounded like good conversations with each other. They have studios, but we were looking at a one-bedroom and it was pretty much the same as the other facility. They said that they had music that came in once or twice a week. The activities seemed like they would be adequate. It's a smaller facility with fewer residents, so it would be a good place depending on what somebody is looking for.

I toured Bickford of Spotsylvania. I like the restaurant they had in there and the food choices. The staff was friendly, I saw people in the cafeteria and they seemed to be content. I saw the apartments and they seemed to be clean, they look like they had been built within the last 5 years. There's a smell there, though I don't know what it was. They didn't look dirty, but it was the smell I didn't care for.

I was very impressed with Bickford of Spotsylvania, and I'm trying to get my wife in there. They didn't try to hide anything, unlike the other places I had experience with. When I was in Bickford, they took me throughout the building. I saw people and how they interact and were treated. They seemed so much more caring than the other place where I was. The staff was very professional, very good. I didn't even have a chance to ask questions because they would already answer them before I ask them. They already seem like they knew what the questions are gonna be, and they already had the answers for them; they just seemed so great. They offered me a meal, but I already had eaten before I got there. The place looked awesome

Bickford of Spotsylvania is a beautiful and gorgeous facility, but clearly out of our price range. It looked more like a hotel to me than an assisted living because they didn't have medication carts in the hallway. You had to go up to a room to get your medicine. They just had lunch and it smelled glorious and good.

I visited Bickford of Spotsylvania, and it was absolutely gorgeous. The staff was friendly, they took me on the tour, answered my questions, and I would recommend the place. It's all on one level, so it's very appealing, it's a complete circle, the décor is absolutely beautiful, the rooms were not huge, but adequate. They had place for a sofa, a bed, and the shower and bathroom were handicap accessible. They have a beautiful courtyard with flowers, and where people can sit. It's totally secure, you cannot get in there without ringing a bell, and somebody will let you in, so it was very appealing.

We visited Bickford, it was very nice, and the staff was very friendly. She was very knowledgeable and very nice. They took the time, showed us around, and made sure that we got to see what they offered, even though what we wanted was not available. They talked to residents who allowed us to come in and take a look at their rooms. The dining area was very nice and very clean.

Bickford of Spotsylvania's residents do get a lot of help. I chose it for my husband because it's convenient for me. My husband's room has a living area with a couch, two chairs, a TV, a good-sized bedroom, a walk-in closet, a good-sized bathroom, and a little kitchenette that has a microwave, a sink, and a small refrigerator. They still need to improve since it’s very new -- less than a year old. They don't have many activities, but they have a big TV, and they sit and watch it. The place is very clean.

I loved Bickford of Spotsylvania. Their building was beautiful. They have the smallest of the rooms, but the way they have laid out the bathroom gives you a little more of your usable space. They were the only place that had the bathroom right between the sitting area and your bedroom, so you can still get to it easily from your bed even though the bathroom was not right off of the bedroom. Their staff is excellent. They just have a beautiful building; it is so nice, and my mother-in-law is actually there. The residents are always out doing activities. Every time I’ve been there, there are people mingling around; they are not just staying in their rooms. It has got a very positive atmosphere, and the staff is always smiling. They have the lowest price to get in but end up being the highest in the end. My only negative is maybe the meals. Their meals just seem so-so, like a cafeteria or what you get in a hospital. It didn’t have that restaurant taste and feel.

Bickford was convenient for me and my brother. It was a new facility. It was very nice. The people were very nice. They had a game room, puzzle rooms, and a lot of activities. They had popcorn and movies. They would be having a Hawaiian party. The staff was very helpful. They checked on him often. They served three meals a day.
