My mom is in long-term care at Sentara Chesapeake (Sentara Nsg Cntr Chesapeake). It's very clean, smells great, they provide very good care, and good food. I'm very pleased. They have a dementia/memory unit, skilled care, and long-term care. They have activities and right now my mom is doing rehab and therapy. The staff is very helpful, nice, and pleasant.

Not in our case was the care great It was not acceptable for my husband that had serious back surgery and needed a lot of assistance. I had numerous meetings with issues with Director of nursing social worker ( only once) nurse manager a few times about issues . some were taken care of and some are still on going. I have written other review and don't see them posted on this page. Nice place but it wasn't my choice to go here it was my husbands. I would not recommend too understaffed especially at night. I had to call 911 to have him get in bed one night because after sitting up all day and not being helped to bed until after 11 PM he had slid down in his chair and was afraid to move because he was afraid of falling. He called me after 11 PM and the only thing I could think of doing since I didn't get an answer at nursing station was call 911. It would have been serious to his surgery if he had fallen.

What an amazing difference it has made for the residents to be in the beautiful new building. The building is beautiful and the rooms are well thought out and lovely in appearance! The residents are given great care and the daily activities are well thought out! All in all, the staff here are filled with care and kindness! Job well done!

Even though the building is older, the care provided is 5 star quality! Very clean. Good food. Lots of church and singing groups come in to entertain the people that live there. Everyone I encounter that works at this facility is very nice and caring. And I see that Sentara is building a brand new nursing home to replace this one....that's great news, too!

My mother is now in a nursing home – Sentara Nursing Center. She was taken to the hospital and then needs to be in a nursing home now. It has now been two since she was there and I can see that she has settled down. They keep her busy. They have a lot of activities going on and the staff are very attentive to her. The night that I arrived, they were having a dinner party and they had people come in with music. They seem to do that a lot and she loves that. The facility is very clean, but I think they need to brighten up the place a little bit to make it more cheery.

My friend was sent to Sentare Nursing Home from the hospital to recover from some health issues. I visited her several times at there. It was very clean and tidy there. The sign in was quick and easy. The staff appeared to be very professional and hard working. The building is spacious and not cramped where everyone is running into each other. My friend is well feed there and very comfortable. There is enough space to move around in her room with ease. The staff that help with her physical needs are excellent. She is well taken care of and I was very pleased. There is also many activities there for her to participate in during the week and almost always some type of church service for her to continue to grow in her spiritual life there. There serve her there always with a smile, never a grumpy or complaining attitude and they never make her feel like she is being a burden to them. Instead they have encourage her there to get better and she does not feel rushed to recover.
