My brother and his wife moved into Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. They're both in memory care. The staff is extremely friendly, and sensitive to the emotional end of our quest. They were bending over backward to help us carry things, and everything we needed was made available to us. The room that they were assigned is very bright, with lots of sunshine, spacious, clean, and had a nice bathroom for handicapped people to get in and out of a tub. We sat with them while they had their first lunch. It was very friendly, people could come over to the table and say hi and sit down and visit. I think they had several activities, and I haven't heard much. I haven't had much feedback from my brother about that. He was thinking that he didn't want any activities, but I think he did talk about walking down the hall, striking up a conversation with somebody, and having a very nice chat. So I think he's settling in and enjoying some of the people. I know that they do have a beauty barber shop.

I went to Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. I like that one pretty well. However, their dining room for assisted living was on the second floor and it didn't look very appealing. It had a very basic industrial look to it. Otherwise, it was a great place. They had outdoor space. The apartment was nice. They serve three meals a day. The staff who toured me was very friendly, very thorough, and very professional. They provide a refrigerator in the apartment. With regard to the upkeep, I thought they did everything well.

We had a nice tour at Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. It seemed to be well managed and well maintained. They had two-bedroom units available, which is what we prefer. The apartments were well-maintained and adequate in size, but the kitchen was very small. The staff was very knowledgeable, very open to questions, and gave us a lot of opportunities to talk and ask various things. They had people cleaning the rugs. We were supposed to go look at a couple more rooms, but they were upgrading them. So, I was impressed that they were doing that.

My tour at Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville was excellent, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff members were very friendly, they were warm and welcoming, and everybody spoke to you when you passed by. It was a very friendly environment. They sent me a text today to invite me to dinner there tomorrow night so I can try the food. What I like the most about it is that it's open, there's a lot of natural light, and the rooms were all a good size and the place was really clean.

We toured Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville and we are actually in process of filling out the documentation for my aunt. We like the room that she'll be staying in. We've visited other places, and all were good, but for our needs, we like this one better because they have different levels of assisted living. When we walked in, we liked the atmosphere that they had. It was nicely decorated. They do that seasonally, which we had witnessed in the fall. The location for us was the key point, too. It was mutual for our family along with her friends who live in Charlottesville or Crozet. It was nicely nestled up on a hill. It's accessible to things, but not so readily accessible that had she walked out the door, she would be right there at a major highway or street. The staff that we spoke with was accommodating because my cousin and I were able to talk with them even after our work hours, so that made it accommodating for us. The assisted living part was very nice. From the other rooms that we had looked at, the room felt a little bit more like its own little apartment. They cover three meals. You can provide yourself with a mini refrigerator and a microwave, you could have those as options, but no stoves. My aunt, she would not want or need a stove for that matter. So that might be for their safety, too, just because you don't want someone to leave the stove on. However, going in you have to show two years' worth of income to be able to support being there even though it is a month-to-month. That is probably the only negative thing because with the other places, it was month-to-month and they didn't require a two-year window of income. So that was a little odd to me, and I didn't like that part of it. The staff who toured us was great. Her name was Laura. If we had to call her and ask her questions at 6:30, she took our phone call. For the food, they had a buffet-type thing set up, but we didn't eat. They have outdoor space. They have a garden area, too.

My father will be moving to Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. Our tour was very good, and the other day there was lively entertainment in the dining hall and I thought that was very nice. The staff has been very helpful, I appreciate them. I think that the value for the money is very good. The staff there has been very helpful and friendly. The room looked like a little apartment, it was furnished very nicely.

I will move into Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. I chose it because I was amazed at how it was laid out, very neat, the way it was decorated, and the people there were so nice and very helpful. That attracted me to it, and the admissions director was super nice and very helpful. They showed me independent living and they showed me assisted living, everything but memory care. I was just checking the place out, visiting people, seeing people, meeting people, the workers, and looking at the surroundings like the apartments and studios and stuff that they had to offer me.

I went to Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. I would give it our second choice because of the location. They have more room choices, you could get one room, where everything is in one room, or you could get a different one that had a separate bedroom, for a few more dollars. It felt a little more like a facility than the other place. The staff was very, very knowledgeable, very nice, very helpful. They have followed up with me since I went. All kinds of activities, whether it's a movie night or whether it's bingo, and they did the day trips. They had a van that would take them to visit a park, or a museum, or whatever they wanted to do. It was a good activity.

We went to Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. The person that took us around was very nice, very friendly, and very helpful. She was probably the most helpful staff of the places we went to. I had mentioned to her that my mother likes to write, and so she had a little book all prepared for her, that was like three hundred and one writing ideas. It was just like she just cared a lot and thought about it a lot and had it all ready for us when we got there. It was very nice. It isn't quite as nice as the other places, but it's very nice, very clean, the rooms look like they're a good size, with reasonably good light, and the residents that we saw there seemed friendly and happy.

My visit with Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville was wonderful. The director was superb and very informative. It was a very clean and friendly atmosphere. The rooms that she showed us were very, very nice and clean. It's a 5 just because of what I had mentioned. When we were walking around, the interaction that the director had with the residents was nice. They offer transportation to doctors' visits. They do a lot of outings on certain days. They seemed to have a lot of activities going on.

Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville was a very attractive, welcoming, well-organized place at first glance. Once I was taken on a tour of the facilities and especially the independent living floor, I was even more impressed. I liked everything that I saw. I liked how it was maintained and decorated and how residents were wandering around as people would do, coming and going as they pleased and the staff was available, but not bothersome in any way. I was very impressed with the size of the one-bedroom apartment that I saw and the layout of it. It had everything I could think that my mother-in-law would need or want. I was even more impressed with two things. One was the number of public spaces for the residents, a library, a theater room, a pub, a large dining area, small nooks and crannies everywhere with a couple of chairs and a table or something for people to sit and read or talk or whatever, a really big covered porch outside, one in the front, too, but this was on the side of the building, so it's kind of private. The person who was showing me around was so enthusiastic about the place. It was kind of contagious. I just agreed with her opinion on everything she was showing me, so it was easy for her to convince me that it was well worth checking out. I wasn't interested in the food because I wasn't going to be eating it particularly. I was happy to know that there were menus planned with a couple of choices for every meal, but there was also an option for the residents to get sort of on-demand a smaller, like fast food menu whenever they wanted, which I thought was good for people who may not want to be on the schedule of the place. It checked all the boxes for me.

I am a little late reviewing this community, but I was thinking about my mom this morning. I am so thankful for the outstanding care she received while living here. Every staff member treated us with love and respect. Our interactions with the staff were great. I'm sure we didn't meet everyone, but the ones that cared for mom truly cared for her. Nancy and Frank will always stand out to me. The managers are helpful and hands-on. If we needed something, Jennifer would make it happen. When they say you are part of the family now they mean it. We were there every day during moms final days and the dining staff brought us food and snacks. It was very thoughtful. Her room was like a mini apartment that we furnished. It did not have a kitchen. The activities were touch and go probably because of COVID. If mom didn't want to go, she could get a personalized room visit. The food was excellent. They grow their own vegetables and lettuce for the residents. They have independent, assisted living, and memory care. It's a large community and has 4 floors. I can only comment on the assisted living since that is where mom lived. Thank you to everyone at commonwealth for your guidance and support. If they are still there ask for Jennifer or Amanda. They will point you in the right direction.

The tour at Commonwealth Senior Living was very nice. I liked the apartment a lot and the fact that it has a washer and dryer. It's wonderful, and that's a big plus. The fact that there's a sliding door that I can just walk out with my dog, that is a great big plus, too. I think what bothered me the most is that it's pretty dark in there, and that just threw me off. I thought to pay that much more money for that when it's not any more desirable than it is, I didn't think it's worth it. The facility was in good shape.

My mom is moving into Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville tomorrow. From the time that I walked in the door, the place had a real sense of calm and a real sense of family and of unity there. They seemed to be a real place of support and everyone helping each other. The woman who gave me the tour is the marketing director and she was super nice, super thorough, and she answered any and all questions I had. She gave me a thorough and proper tour of the different choices they had for rooms. The rooms and the place itself are very clean and very organized. Everyone that I met was super nice. I met the activities director, the people from the kitchen and the reception area and everyone seems to really be there for each other. Their main goal is to make sure that the residents are taken care of, comfortable, have activities, and are satisfied with their care. It was just a super positive experience. I spoke with the marketing director for quite some time to just be thorough about details: the pricing, what's available, what they do, what they have, how it's done, and their certain protocols. I felt very confident about having my mom there. I was pleased and satisfied with the people there, with what I saw, the condition of the place, how things are, and how the people interacted. It gave me a sense of calm and reassured me that it is a great place for my mom to be a part of a good community. Their rooms have an apartment feel to them; even the studio has a studio apartment feel to it. The larger room has a really large bedroom and living room. It's similar to a a big 1-bedroom apartment that you would get in an apartment complex. I think the place is fairly new as well. Maybe they have been there 10 or 15 years, but, still, they keep the place in good condition. There were no holes in the walls and nothing was dirty or out of place. They have activities that change on a daily basis. They have arts and crafts, bingo, and other communal games that people can play in a group of 10 to 1. They have exercise programs and movie nights in the big living area. All the staff wear masks the whole time, but the residents are COVID-free and do not have to wear masks. The staff members are fantastic.

My mom is at Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville. We have been very pleased with it. The initial process was very easy, very smooth, and quick. We needed to get her in some place quickly. They were very nice and very accommodating; they came over to our house to evaluate my mother. We have been very pleased. She has only been there for about a week, but we have been very pleased with what they have told us and what she is doing. We are very happy with Commonwealth Senior Living. It looks new. It is very clean, modern, and very welcoming. When you go in the door you don't get the idea that you are in a hospital setting. We have not been allowed to go up to her room yet. We are hoping next month when they go into the next phase we will be able to go up there, but everything that we have seen so far has been very homey. It's very easy for us to get to because we are from Orange, and it's only thirty minutes away. They have an exercise program in the morning, and they are doing "visiting the different countries" videos in the afternoon, and she participates a little bit. They have a good range of things for their patients to do.

My parents have moved into Commonwealth Senior Living. It's very clean and very neat. The staff is very friendly and seems to be receptive to the needs of the residents. They have many activities. They do room visits and they play bingo, they have a library, and during the day they do educational seminars.

Our experience with Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville was wonderful. The staff during the tour was fabulous and the facility was really nice. They had a little exercise room that was a little bit dark. The place looked wonderful and was very clean. I was impressed. They offered Bridge, an exercise class, and movie nights.

Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville was very nice. They were doing upgrades. The food and the people were lovely. It had lovely views towards the west end where the mountains are. The staff was very nice. It was an enjoyable experience. It had an Alzheimer's unit, nursing care, and assisted and independent living. We came in around lunchtime and were given a chance to see how the staff interacts with the clients and how the clients interact with the facility. The food was very lovely. They had lovely closets and hallways, and they could refurbish the baths if the people wanted a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub. They give the people the option to change it over.

My visit at Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville was really good, and I learned a lot. The staff member that took me around was very good and informative. They have a couple different dining areas. And the rooms we saw seemed good, they weren't awful, but they weren't huge either. They have plenty of activities and they gave us an activities calendar. They have things like exercise. The one other staff member that I interacted with was pleasant, and the facilities were nice and well-kept.

CSL promoted its Daily Check-in process for the Independent Living Program “to ensure the well-being of all residents” yet failed to check on my mother for four days while she lay trapped in her bed without food, water and medications, forced to soil herself. Mom moved here specifically for the Daily Check In Program so she could have some privacy in her life without us checking up on her each day. It sounded like the perfect compromise for us to know she was okay each day and to allow her to maintain some independence. Should have been easy for the staff to make sure 19 people were up and about each day. Arbitrator in ensuing lawsuit wrote, “I found this to be a horrific experience and one which caused immeasurable injuries, physical pain, mental anguish, humiliation, embarrassment and inconvenience."

I placed my mom at Commonwealth. The general appearance is good, and I'm pleased with it. It's very convenient being right across from the hospital. My family passes by each day going to work, so they can stop in and take care of a lot of her needs. She has a lovely room, the meals are nice, and their dining facility is good. They've gotten rehab to come in while she's there and provid transportation to doctors' appointments, but they seem a little short staffed on weekends. They have crafts, movies, go out to dinners and lunches, and watch TV. She seems to be adjusting.

I loved Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville, but they didn't have the option for compassionate care wherein if you pay for three years and run out of money, they will be able to contact Medicaid and the resident wouldn't be kicked out. But overall, it was something that I liked. If they had that option, that's where my parents would be. The rooms were fine, but they were in the process of building.

Commonwealth Senior Living is too expensive for us, but I like it. My sister knows the owner, and it’s a well-run facility. They just redid a lot of stuff that needed to be redone, so they do maintain it well. They just fixed their dining room. It’s a nice-looking place. If they take public transportation they have at the place, it’s well-situated from going to a store to going to apple-picking. It has a nice mix of things right around it.

I walked in and everybody was so friendly and accommodating. We looked around and I said, “This is the place I want to be.” So, this is where I am. It’s worked out beautifully. I am very happy here because of the people. From the staff to the residents, everybody has been really friendly and I couldn’t ask for better friends. The activities are great too. They have soup dinners, Bingo, outings, and we go out to dinner. There’s always something to do. You don’t get bored.

I had a home up in Rutgersville. My daughter lives up there and one day about seven years back, she said, “How would you like to live in Florida?” I said, “If I have to!” Two and a half years later when she told me they were moving back to Rutgersville, I got online, found Commonwealth Senior Living at Charlottesville, and was amazed at how nice it was. I knew it was going to be nice, and it was lovely. The friendliness is why I enjoy living here so much. It’s like a small town. Everyone knows each other and you’re never actually ever alone. Even though you’re in your own apartment, it’s very nice to have people to talk to. New residents would be very happy here. We would welcome them with open arms. The community is friendly and easy to know. We were all “newbies” at one time and we know how to take care of the new people.
