We went and saw Bridgewater Retirement Community. We were very impressed by them. We were visiting friends who live there. They're in a duplex house. They have their own quarters and garage and all that. They have access to all common areas, which is quite extensive recreations like exercise, barbershops, beauty shops, and all sorts of stuff in there. Plus, if and when they need it, they can move into assisted living. And then beyond that, if they need it, they can move into skilled nursing care. It's all there in one campus, and it is run by the same people with all the same general facilities available to everyone, but then specifically, depending on what level of care you're at. And we were very impressed by the whole thing. It seems well-run and clean. It's the a kind of facility that we were hoping to find for my sister-in-law. She is not fabulously wealthy, but she has plenty of money to go into a place like that. It's a great place. It's very modern, very well-kept, and beautifully decorated. We didn't eat there, but what this place does is they give you credits for some restaurants in the area that you can go to. So that was nice and well done. Our friend told us that they have a dining area there that is chef-prepared level of dining. In terms of activities, it's the widest variety you can think of. They have hobby craft activities. The staff working there were very friendly and helpful. Just really, nice people. It costs a lot to get there. I think it's very good value for the money. My wife and I couldn't afford it, but for those who can afford it, I think none of them are feeling cheated in any way. It's not just the facility; it's the people. They go out of their way to do whatever you need them to do for you. They're anxious to help. They're pleasant and friendly. It's hard to put a value on that because they seem very genuine people.

We visited Bridgewater for my relative. Everything was fine. I liked it because it offered everything, like if you went into assisted living or needed more help. The staff was good. Their rooms were not as big as the others I've seen.

I was very impressed with them. The person that showed me around Bridgewater was very gracious. She was full of news and answered all my questions thoroughly. They showed me the apartment that I would get if I were to stay there. She showed me what it was like, and it was quite adequate. It has a living room, a bedroom, and a small kitchenette. I have eaten there, and the food is definitely good. It is a nice place. They did have activities, but I wasn't impressed with it. They were not as nice as the activities in the other facility. They have small trips using a bus that goes into town twice a week. You can go on the bus and shop. If there is a good movie on, they will arrange for you to go on a movie show. My problem is I can't find anything that will fit my budget. Everything seems too expensive for me.

My grandparents spent the last 6 years of their lives living in this community. I was absolutely a beautiful place filled with wonderful people (both staff and neighbors). I know it will be quite a while before I am of age to move there but I really love the community and plan to move there. The community is designed for graduated care, meaning that as your level of need is increases, the level of care increases. Also, it is within walking distance of a lovely church and Bridgewater College. Bridgewater Retirement Community is a piece of heaven on earth!!
